A Secret Alpha Mate

I have never seen this much activity around the place. Everyone is bustling about, stress evident on everyones faces.

AS chaotic as itis I can't help but feel a bit excited knowing that I have tonight to look forward to Abigail by the lake. As much as I hate to admit it I was curious about what present she was saving for this birthday.

I was also really excited to finally meet my wolf. 'm not sure what time of day I was born so I've been expectantly waiting since the moment I woke up to meet her. Abigail thankfully got us both assigned to kitchen duty and today that meant preparing a lot of pastries for the weekend. Not our strong-suit but we made do, hoping no one would notice our lopside croissants.

Everyone falls into comfortable chatter once we get settled into our assigned tasks. I'm happy enough working in silence, waiting for my second cup of coffee to kick in. Two girls are working next to me and I overhear them chatting to each oth not like they were being really discreet about it.

“I heard the Luna was yelling at Meghan and then he kicked them both out.”

“You shouldn't be listening in! What if he caught you?"

“It wasn’t me that was listening in, I heard this from Anna.”

“What else did she say?"

“Apparently The Luna was calling Meghan all these names, and wanted her to leave and not be alone with the Alpha, something like that”

“Oooh drama, do you think The Luna knows he’s sleeping with her?”

“Do you think the Alpha is actually sleeping with Meghan?”

“How else would she have gotten the lead omega role?”

“Good point, she's useless” They both laugh.

I called my family into my office a few hours before our guests are suppose to start arriving. Although we've hosted a few events before, they haven't been anything close to this magnitude. A few pack meetings with neighboring packs, and som smaller ceremonies over the years.

I need everyone to be on their very best behavior today and show everyone just how strong this pack, and family, are. Ev if1 don't believe my family to be the strongest, they do have potential, at least to put on a decent show. I hoped at least. They sit across from me on the other side of my desk, expectantly waiting while I gather my thoughts.

“You all know just how important this day is for our family and this pack. Everything has to be perfect, no, everything will be perfect. So I need to make sure that you are all on your best behaviors, as well” They all nod, “No, I mean it. If you hay a problem with anyone at the party, or in this pack” I pause making eye contact with Julianna, she scowls when it register I'm talking about Meghan, “We leave that all behind this weekend. If there is a problem you come directly to me."

“Do you understand?” They all nod, I sigh hoping that this actually registers. I place three boxes on the table in front of them and shove them towards each of them. “This is for you all for tonight.”

Hailey and Julianna's eyes light up as they grab the blue velvet boxes in front of them, Seth looks skeptical but grabs his, wel.

Hailey squeals with delight as she opens the diamond earring set. Julianna gasps and comes around the desk to kiss my cheek. I stand up and help her put on the sapphire necklace I got her.

I knew Hailey and Julianna would be easily bought, but Seth is always harder to read. Seth mumbles a thanks and puts or his new watch. “There's something else for you tonight, too.” I wink at Seth and this gets a genuine smile.

“Thank you so much, Daddy! These will go perfect with my gown” I smile at her.

“Now that we're on the same page, finish getting ready, we're expected to meet all of the visiting Alphas at the front befo dinner starts” They get up to leave Julianna has her arm around Hailey's shoulders gushing about their presents.

“Dad?” Seth says sitting back down, “I wasn't going to tell you this but I think you need to deal with it if you want this weekend to go as planned.” What is it now?

“Go on.” 1 sigh.

“Well, there's been gossip around the packhouse, nothing much, I just overheard a few omegas talking in the hall, and th some in the dining room when mom called me down to show me her place settings” He rolls his eyes while mentioning t place settings.

“Gossip about what? Get to the point." I say annoyed.

“Just about something that happened in your office with mom and Meghan, they said it was a huge fight. Then there was some speculation that you're sleeping with her and someone else said something that mom walked in on you and Megha free++g” He says, “Just gossip, but it's everywhere in the packhouse” He shrugs.

I am shaking with rage as I stand up from behind the desk, “Thanks for bringing this to my attention." I brush past him ou of the room.

How dare these f****+g packhouse dogs make assumptions about me and my Luna, this would have never been heard of before my time. I will force them to respect me if nothing else.

I run down to the kitchen and bump into Meghan on the way, I drag her arm not stopping to explain, “Come with me, we need to get your omegas in line”

She looks scared as she struggles to keep up with me. Good, she is my eyes and ears of this place, she should have puta stop to this before it got to me.
