Chapter 106
(Jackson)
Finally, things were starting to turn around here and make sense. I was able to reach out to the companies that belonged Isla now, the one’s Alpha Benjamin couldn't get his hands on. They were running fine, bringing in money that was funnele to their private account. They were smart to keep it separate.
They offered Isla a position on the board, which her father had before, but it was something that she wanted to think abc with so many other things going on.
They also offered open jobs to the pack members to interview for, as soon as we annouced it to the pack many people to them up on that.
We confirmed what we suspected when Cam reported that people rarely, if ever, left the pack. Benjamin wanted to keep people close to the pack, he didn't let them have jobs elsewhere and tried to take care of them doing the bare minimum. couldn't imagine financially supporting every one of my pack members.
Sure, we provide housing, pay the omegas that work for us, and keep up maintenance and improvements. We cover most the costs, but the pack members also pay a small portion to help keep up everything and the public spaces.
We had the small memorial service for the warriors, last night. Isla had a tasteful memorial placed near the pack houses an open space she wanted to turn into a garden. Although it was a sad affair, the warriors families left feeling better than when they showed up, seeming to appreciate the recognition and closure. The pack support for them was overwhelming, now they knew that even though their mates fought for Benjamin, no one held that against them.
One of the construction companies Silver Moon owns had space to immediately take on the omega village. We consulted with an architecture firm that another pack owns and they had the plans drawn up almost immediately.
The construction was started a few days ago and it was already starting to look like something. An echo of what was to come. We built more omega cottages than were necessary, almost doubled the amount.
It was necessary, so many omegas were finding their mates. There wasn't many young omegas, we didn't see any children actually around that could have been under ten years old. Isla wasn't exaggerating when she said that most omegas spen all of their time in the packhouse.
To think that the omegas weren't allowed to really interact with pack members was insane. It didn’t make sense, you wan to grow your pack, you need omegas, they are the packs backbone. At this rate he wouldn't have any omegas left after th generation.
Was he just so obsessed with power that he wasn't thinking about the future? I guess we would never know.
We were going to put together a private space for them there, a recreational place where they could come together, of course they were welcome to use the public spaces in the packhouse, but we wanted to do something just for them, to he make up for their past few years. Complete with a pool, gym, and an actual sized theater so that they could finally watch the movies they missed out on. Isla also insisted that we put in a fully stocked library.
Now that the pack was intermingling on a daily basis it turns out so many people that were waiting for their mates found them within Silver Moon, waiting for them too. Luckily, they weren't as upset about it as I was, they were just happy they found their mates and focused on the future instead of the time lost.
So, we had to think of the future of the pack, which would mean a huge surge of omega children, so why not start prepari now. I made a note to look back at the omega population in twenty years and see if we needed to add more then, but I wouldn't worry about it for the moment.
The Elder's gave us the all clear for the omega village, the old omega village. I didn't know what we should do with it. No one wanted to go near it, rightfully so. Even if it was clear of dark magic, that place had a tragic history. We were toying w the idea of tearing it down and then in the future, years from now, when no one remembered, the next generation could something with it.
Alpha Anthony and Luna Lily's bodies were recovered and they were finally going to be laid to rest tonight. Isla made som decisions with the help of my parents who just arrived for the memoria along with Jim.
My mom came at the right time, the perfect time actually. Isla had started coming up with some ideas but couldn't make any firm plans. We were planning it for next week but the bodies could only be held for so long before the burial, so it wa moved up to tonight.
Of course, my mother was flitting around the packhouse making all of Isla’s ideas come to life. We were set to have a sunset ceremony down by the lake to lay them to rest, and then set up a permanent memorial at a later date. The last memorial would happen next week instead, for those that were found in the pit. We were able to identify most of the bodies, or at least guess at who they could be.
More closure to unanswered questions from families. Some thinking that they left the pack, some thinking their families died in the fire the night Benjamin took over. At least they had answers, but that didn't help their grief knowing that their families were murdered by someone they thought was their Alpha.
The last thing we needed to wrap up, one of the last things, at least, was to appoint someone to watch over Silver Moon when we headed back to Moonstone. Lucas and Cam were in my office with me throwing out names. We already knew tha Bryce would stay behind to lead the warriors here until they were up to Moon Stone's standard before appointing a new head warrior from the group here. We just needed two people to watch over, handle pack disputes, day to day operations Even someone that could temporarily hold down the fort until we found someone more permanent.
“What about your brother?” I say to Lucas. Lucas had one younger brother and Cam had an older and younger sister, his younger one was still in high school and his older one had a mate in our pack that had a great job in one of our compani We didn't think they would be willing to relocate here.
“He still has a semester of college left” I forgot he was in college.
“Maybe our parents would want to step in, they know better than anyone how to run a pack.” Cam shrugs, that was hones our best bet at this point, we wouldn't have to train them, just update them on what was going on.
“Do you think they would be up for itz" I ask, mulling over the idea. I would hate to lose having my dad so close, I relied o him more than I wanted to admit. I knew he would be overjoyed at the responsibility, even if my mom wouldn't want to move here, it would be temporary, a few months maybe.
Dad?
Yes.
can you come into Benajmin’s er- my office?
On my way
“ll ask him now, can you guys call your parents and suggest the idea, and then maybe talk to your brother and see if he would be up for a long term assignment after college”
“On it, Boss." Lucas whips out his phone. Cam nods and heads to the other side of the room.
Three sharp knocks at the door later and my dad walks in.
“What is it, son?” He asks sitting across from me,
“We were just wondering, toying around wiith the idea actually”
“Just spit it out” Lucas gives me a look.
“Would you want to take over Silver Moon for a while, until we have more permanent solution?” I ask him, glaring at Luca “Oh,” He says looking taken aback, a look I couldn't quite decipher on his face, that was quickly replaced by a smile, “Well of course I would have to talk to your mother, 'm sure the closets here are lacking” He jokes, “But she has already been talking about renovations to the packhouse, I'm sure she would be thrilled to help out here. With Isla's blessing, of cours: He adds.
“My dad is in too.” Lucas says,
“Ah that is fantastic, get everyone back together again, just like old times,"
“Mine too” Cam says, “They can only come for two months, they had a European trip planned after, but they said if you needed help after they could come back.”
“Excellent!” My dad says, a wide smile on his face, “This is going to be fun."
