Chapter 3753
Yep, tears.
It seemed she couldn’t help but cry over Leonel, despite knowing it was over.
Unable to control her emotions, she pulled over to the roadside to gather herself, fearing she might cause trouble otherwise.
With the engine off, her hands shook on the wheel.
It took her a moment to settle.
She silently observed the bustling traffic and lively streets.
But Leonel’s love doomed her to a lifetime of loneliness.
Who was to blame?
She held herself responsible for rekindling their relationship and welcoming him back into her life.
What she hadn’t anticipated was her inability to fully let go in the end.
Maybe she’d never be ready to let someone else in, but Leonel had already moved on to someone new.
Alexis believed she shouldn’t be concerned, considering her past relationship with Leonel was over.
But for now, she couldn’t shake it off.
She remained in the car for about half an hour until she regained her composure before driving off.
By then, rain was pouring, making the road treacherous.
It was a slow journey back to home.
Without bothering with an umbrella, Alexis simply opened the car door and stepped out.
Her coat was soaked with rain, but she paid it no mind, marching straight into the hall.
The servant trailed behind, visibly anxious.
Waylen was engrossed in the news channel when he heard footsteps approaching.
Looking up, he saw Alexis in disarray, her clothes still damp from the water.
He switched off the TV and chided the servant trailing Alexis, “Why didn’t you bring an umbrella for her? You should have been more attentive, especially seeing her so preoccupied.
”
The servant murmured, “Miss Fowler was in a hurry.
”
Shedding her coat, Alexis stated coolly, “Dad, I’m fine.
”
Waylen remembered the news he had watched earlier, which mentioned that Leonel now had a new girlfriend.
Interestingly, the rumors originated from the same place Alexis had gone to today.
It appeared she had crossed paths with them.
Yet, in that moment, she insisted she was fine!
Even she, typically so rational, found herself standing foolishly in the rain.
Waylen firmly believed that Alexis and Leonel were meant to be eternal rivals, destined to love and loathe each other throughout their lives.
He couldn’t fathom Leonel finding a girlfriend, yet he was hesitant to meddle too much in their relationship.
It was clear that Leonel didn’t intend to hold Alexis back and wished for her to start a new life.
Given their history of conflicts, Waylen also sensed there was no need to divulge the truth to her.
He sighed lightly, advising, “Head upstairs and take a shower.
Don’t catch a cold.
”
“Alright,” Alexis replied.
