A New Era

Chapter Chapter Twenty Three

"Sam? Sam?!" Kyle shouted as he shook my shoulder. I blinked a few times and snapped me back to reality. I hadn't realized I dazed off. My eyes flickered from Kyle to the double doors in front of us. I took in a deep breath and pushed the door open. It was dark, except for the flicker of some lights in the distance.

Definitely the creepiest thing I have ever experienced. My walkie talkie went off, echoing in the halls.

"Sam, Kyle. You guys gotta hurry." Krista's voice spoke.

"We're on our way." I replied back and stuffed the walkie talkie back into my belt. I motioned for Kyle to follow me, the two of us with our guns held up as we slowly crept down the hall. The only sound to be heard were our boots against the floor.

Finally we made it down to the end of the hall, and one of the doors opened, Krista standing there all wide eyed and panicked.

"What? What is it?" I asked. She opened her mouth to speak but she didn't say anything, just stepped to the side to let us through. Ben and Noah were standing there, over two tables. My eyes flickered to the tables in the middle of the room, which showed two bodies covered up.

"What's going on?" Kyle asked.

"I don't know." I muttered under my breath as I took a few steps closer to the tables. There were monitors, that showed the vitals of the two bodies. Were they alive?

"Sam...Kyle.." Noah said and I turned to him this time. A shocked expression was written on his face.

A heavy sigh escaped his lips and he turned to Ben. He gave a nod and the two of them pulled down the tops of the blankets and revealed the faces of these bodies.

"No...no way..." I breathed down as I stared at the body in front me. I blinked a few times and shook my head staggering backwards. Kyle caught me in the process. He didn't say a word, just as stunned as I was.

I turned my attention to Noah now. "I'm right...aren't I? It's your parents..."

I nodded my head slowly, unable to move, speak or even breathe. This was crazy. There was no way they were alive. No way. I could now feel my heart pound heavily in my chest, my breathing increased by the second. I could feel Kyles hands on my shoulders and him trying to reassure me, but I could barely make out his words, just the sound of my heavy breaths.

Finally getting motion back into my legs, I pushed past Kyle and out the doors of the room. Heavy breaths escaped my lips as I took the strap of my guns holster and leaned against the wall. My body slid down and plopped down on the floor. I was definitely having a panic attack.

The door soon swung open, Noah stood there, a worried expression on his face. Raspy breaths escaped my lips and I tried to speak but no words came out.

"Sam, hey, it's okay." Noah spoke softly as he crouched down beside me. His arms wrapped around me and pulled me into his body. My face buried into his neck as I finally let out heavy sobs.

Noah's hand lightly stroked my hair, his head resting against mine.

"It's okay." He whispered softly and placed a kiss on the top of my head.

I don't know how long I've been crying, but it felt like hours. My breaths slowed down and I finally lifted my head slowly.

"You okay?" Noah asked, concern laced his face and I nodded my head.

"They're..they're alive." I whispered. "How? What are they doing here? How the hell did they get here?" I asked, knowing he didn't have the answers.

"I don't know." Noah shook his head. A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I quickly wiped my tear stained cheeks. I stood up fairly quickly and I looked down at Noah.

"He's not here. President Dickwad isn't here." I shook my head as I ran my fingers through my hair. My hands clenched up and I felt my whole body tense up.

"Fuck!!!!" I screamed out slamming fisted hands on the wall.

"It was probably him. He probably took them. Remember what Dave and Joe said? There weren't any survivors..."

"You think President Martin sent his troops back and took the bodies? Are all those people alive?!" My eyes widened and they darted around the halls. I rushed over to one of the doors and quickly opened it.

The same thing I saw in the other room. Bodies covered on tables, monitors hooked up. I turned to Noah and he raised his eyebrow slightly.

"What the hell is he trying to do."

"I don't know." He replied. "Let's get back to the others." He added and I nodded my head. The two of us finally made our way back inside the room. Kyle looked up at us, tears stained on his cheeks. The two of us pulled each other into an embrace.

"They're alive.." He mumbled under his breath.

"So...what does this mean? Is the President here?" Krista asked. I turned my attention to her, Ben and Viktor.

"I don't think so." I sighed while I rubbed my face with my hands. "Where else could he have gone?" I asked more so to Viktor.

He took in a deep breath as he looked around at all of us. "I'm not sure, I'm gonna call some of my men, see if they heard or seen anything. I'm sorry I failed you."

"No, Vik, you didn't fail us." I said and placed a hand on my shoulder. "You've been a big help, and we wouldn't have figured out that our parents are alive." I replied with a smile. He returned the smile and gave a nod.

"The other rooms are the same, people we thought were dad hooked up to monitors, keeping them alive. I don't know how this is even possible it makes zero sense." Noah said with a shake of his head.

"No it definitely doesn't."

We all stood there quietly, each of us trying to think on what to do in this current situation. I turned my attention to my parents for a moment.

"You guys get the hell out of here. I'm gonna stay, keep an eye on them-"

"Like hell you're not. You're not doing this by yourself." Kyle spoke up, interrupting me. I sighed heavily and shook my head.

"He's right Sam, you're not staying here by yourself."

"I'm staying, but we need to find President Martin. We have to find him. When you do find him, you bring him to me alive.." I said not taking my eyes off of my unconscious parents.

"Okay." Noah said with a sigh. "I'm gonna stay, the rest of you get the hell out of here, find him." He added. I glanced over at the others and then to my brother.

"Find out why he did this..." I said to him and he gave me a nod. I took in a deep breath and pulled Kyle into a hug once more before I watched him, Krista, Ben and Viktor walk out.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to face Noah.

"I thought this was almost over." I whispered softly running a hand through my hair.

"It is, it will be. We'll get him. Okay?" He said as he pulled me into him and I wrapped my arms around his waist, resting my head on his chest.

"He can't be far, especially if they're operating this."

"Where the hell is everyone though?" I questioned and turned my head to face him. Noah huffed softly and shook his head in confusion.

"I don't know, but it's creeping the hell out of me." He muttered as he rested his head on top of mine. I closed my eyes for a moment, my thoughts wandered to everything that happened in a span of minutes, not even hours. My parents were alive. All this time they were alive. But I had no idea how they survived, or why President Martin kept them alive ever since. Have they been like this since they were shot?

And what the hell was he planning now??
