Luke's POV I came out of the study room, carrying the shattered pieces of my poor heart... I never thought I would talk to anyone like that. It was so damn hard to keep my voice steady and talk when my heart was aching and begging me to stop. Since Shane confessed his feelings towards me, everything was really awkward. How much Shane has changed within this short period is totally unbelievable... Even after his confession, I didn't really expect him to act like this. I thought he wou come after me every minute and make my life hell because he is well known to get whatever he wants by any means. So 1 did everything possible to avoid meeting him alone... Even when we practice or study, I always made sure that we are surrounded by other people. Shane indeed felt that I avoid meeting him alone, yet he didn't complain about it at least once... But his eyes clearly explained how much he suffered because of that. Even when we are together, I tried my best to pretend like he is not there. My communication with him limited to the necessities. He called me a few times, on the next day after our celebration. I didn’t answer his calls. I think he understoo that I need some space and time... So he stopped calling me after that. He didn’t even try to talk to me when we are together. But his eyes were always focussed on me, that was hard to miss... Though he didn't try to do anything to get close to me, he made sure his presence near me is acknowledged. I don't even have words to explain how hard it is for me to ignore him totally. I have never felt that uneasy around anyone... I know Shane's feelings towards me are genuine and honest. No matter what he did in the past, he always had a special place for me in his heart, I knew that. When he stopped that bit** from hitting Sarah, and when he told everyone that Sarah is his sister, I was absolutely confirmed that his change is not just to fascinate me. That movement, I really felt the situation is serious than I ever thought. His love for me is far bigger than I thought... If I say I don't feel anything for him, that would be a lie. But the problem is I love him the way he loves me? Have you ever loved anyone from all your heart? If that person doesn't love you back, was it easy to change your mind an love someone else the same way? I believe most of you can understand me. I started loving Jake a long time ago... He is n brother, my best friend, and my everything... I don't think even Sarah can love him as much as I love him. My whole life revolves around him... I don't think I would ever be able to get rid of these feelings. So how can I start a life with Shane? won't be able to commit to Shane and our relationship wholeheartedly. If I face a situation where I have to choose betwe jake and my relationship with Shane, without any doubts I would choose Jake. How it will make Shane feels? It would be unfair for him... Therefore, I had to stop this before he grows up more hopes for me... I know I broke his heart... But it is better than giving him hope... I am s0 sorry, Shane... I really like the new you! But you deserve someone better than me... Someone who can love you as much as you love him... Sarah's POV I was really heartbroken with what happened at the university. I really wanted to talk with Luke about this. I know the exa reason he rejects my brother. I totally get it. But that is not an excuse to hurt him this much... You can say Shane has hurt me so much in the past, which is totally true. But I can't stand to see him going through pain. For the first time in my life, I have started feeling the love of my brother, I want him to be happy and love me as much as’ can. He deserves happiness for all the efforts he puts for transforming himself into a better person. But what can I do? When Shane constantly asked me not to discuss with Luke about this, how can I go against his words? jake was at his parent's place when this incident happened. I called him and informed everything. Mom first tried to talk to Shane and convince him. But when he was stubbornly holding on to his decision, she started to cry and make a scene... That is her way of getting things done according to her preference. Whenever someone tried to gc against her word, she does this... She is so clever... However, her trick worked, and Shane agreed to stay for the dinner. Though she made the invitation and she needs that rascal in our house so badly, she was not ready to do any work either Since I woke up, she ordered me to do so many tasks. First I had to clean the whole house, then started cooking... She car up with an advanced menu for dinner, but I am the one who had to cook everything... I don't know why we have to prepare so much food... It is more like a celebration rather than a dinner. Anyway, I didn't try to argue with her about anything. Arguing with her would just make her beat me or scold me, nothing more... She never listens to me, no matter how correct I am. When it comes to the evening, the whole house was filled with the delicious smell of food that I cooked. I felt proud of m as well because I could make all those food... But working all day had worn me out totally. I was so tired that I couldn't even stand up anymore. But my mom was not ready to spare me... She wanted me to get ready in a nice dress (like she ha bought me any nice dresses) and come for dinner. As soon as I returned to my room after all the work, I called Jake... He was really pissed off when he heard about this stup dinner, but what he can do against that. His only comfort was Shane is there with me when that bastard come to our hou Today, the whole day I couldn't talk with him because I was extremely busy. So I knew he is definitely so worried. “Princess... called you many times..” he said as soon as he answered the phone. “I had a lot of work to do, Jake... Mom made me cook so many things... She is not giving him just a dinner but a feast!” said. “When would I be able to come to your house and have dinner with your family, Sarah?” then he asked, making him sad. “Don’t worry about that, babe... That day will come so soon... That man comes to our house just as one of our lecturers. B when you come to have dinner with us, you will come as my boyfriend!” I replied quickly. “That's true... Soon the election will be over. After that, I am going to discuss it with my parents about you. 1 am fed up wi keeping us a secret, princess... Always have Shane with you!" Jake advised. “Okay, boss... Don't worry." I replied, smiling. Mom and dad welcome Mr. Patterson to our house with so much respect! It was almost like welcoming someone from the royal family. He also dressed like he is going to some kind of a sophisticated party. He was talking with my parents like he was talking with some very special people... With so much respect... Such a drama! I know Shane felt the same... His face was filled with disgust... After starting dinner, my mom acted like she made all those food... Well... I don't give a sh*t about that... Anyway, I didn’t want him to know I prepared food for him. Why should I give such satisfaction to that bastard? But after finishing dinner, I received a text from Mr. Patterson. “I know all this food was made by you. They were delicious. You are a fantastic chef. Thank you." When 1 raised my head up after reading the text, he was looking at me with a smile on his face. I just put my phone back to my pocket and looked away. “Actually, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, I want to talk about something” then he said, looking at mom and dad. “Yes, Mr. Patterson, what is it?” dad asked. “I prefer to talk with you two only...” Mr. Patterson said, politely looking at my parents. “Yeah, sure... dad said confusedly, but he asked me and Shane to return to our rooms. We were indeed so happy about getting a chance to escape from this stupid drama... We both went to Shane's room. We spent some time there talking until mom called us back... As soon as we went down to the living room, I suspected something has happened. Both mom and dad looked like they have seen a ghost! They were so shocked... On the other hand, Mr. Patterson was so happy... He was smiling like he has gone insane. What the hell has he discussed with my parents? “shane, I told your parent as well... talked with RB's manager. He is happy to give you an opportunity in their team. Also, talked with my dad... Mom...” Shane tried to protest, but dad stopped him. “shane just shut up, will you? You have never earned even a penny for any of your expenses. Both I and your mom have worked our butts off to find the money for your football expenses. So this is a decision we should make, you have no say this... * Dad's voice tone actually made me shivered.
