A Girl Nobody Wanted

Sarah's POV Shane dragged me behind him to an empty study room. He made me sit on a chair. Then he pulled a chair near me and s down. “It hurts, right? Should I take you to the Medical Centre?” he asked concerned. “No... No... I am fine..." I said, stretching my self on the chair to ease up my aching stomach... Beth's kick on my lower abdomen was hurting like crazy... Other than that, I was actually okay... “But you don't look like you are fine..." he said sadly. “My stomach hurts, but nothing big... I am used to these types of beatings, Shane..” I said, trying to smile... Until those words came out of me, 1 didn’t realize the seriousness of my words. Shane's face distorted with pain. “You have to go through all of these because of me..” he said apologetically. “Oh! I didn’t mean anything like that, Shane... I just wanted to tell that I am okay.” I immediately said. “Even if you mean that or not, it is the truth, Sarah... She attacked you today because of me... I know most of the other people who bullied you in the past, they also did that just to impress me..” he said. “All of them were in the past, Shane... Just forget them... Beth is just stupid, you have nothing to do with what happened today..” I said, trying to make his heart. What he said was true, he is the main reason I got bullied every day, but he is changed now, and 1 didn't want to dig into the past and hurt him. “I was such a ruthless person to let you getting hurt like that...” he buried his head between his hands... “Please, don't worry about that, Shane... You have changed... That is the most important thing..” I said, keeping my hand his leg gently. “I don't even know why I hold that grudge against you for this long... I am such a jerk...” he said worriedly. Hold that grudge against me? Why he actually hold a grudge against me? As far as I can remember, I haven't done anythin wrong to him... “Shane... I know this is not the right time, but I always wanted to ask you this...” I said looking at him... He lifted up his head and looked at me with a confused look... “Actually, Shane... What is the reason you hold a grudge against me?” I asked. His eyes got widened... Like he couldn't believe what he heard. “You can't think about a reason?” he asked. “Every day, I tried to think of a reason why you, mom, and dad hate me so much, but I couldn't think of anything," I replie “I don't exactly know why mom and dad treat you so badly, but I can just guess the reason... However, I know exactly, why wanted to hurt you... But... Can't you really think of the reason...” he asked. “No... I truly can't think anything...” I said. “Don’t you remember anything from our childhood?” he then asked. Childhood... Well... I don't have a distinct memory of our childhood... “I don't remember much, Shane... Actually, childhood is almost like a blank page for me.” I said. “Really? I remember everything about our childhood... Every single detail...” he said, looking outside the window. He was like trying to remember things... “Itis really odd why I can't remember anything, right?” I asked. “Hmm... Can you at least remember that you were so ill those days,” he asked. “I don't remember any details... But I kind of remember that I was so sick... I replied... “Well... You were so ill those days, Sarah... There were some times that I thought you were gonna die.” he said, looking at me... “What? Really? My condition was that bad?” I was so surprised to hear that. “Yes... You..." when he was about to say something, the door to the study room was opened. Luke entered the room in a hurry. As soon as Shane saw Luke, he stood up as he got electrified... “sarah... Are you okay?” Luke asked concernedly. His eyes traveled from my face to Shane's as he spoke. “Yes, I am fine, Luke..." I said, smiling... “I was so worried about you... I was looking for you everywhere. Bob told me he saw you two coming here.” Luke said. “Shane took me here... Don't worry Luke, I am good... My stomach hurts a bit, other than that nothing wrong..." I said. “That bit** kicked your belly, right? ” Luke sounded so worried. “Yeah... She kicked me... I punched her face and her lips started to bleed. I think it triggered her...” I said with a grin... Actually, when I recall what happened, it made me laugh... I have seen girls fight in the movies. But I have never seen a li one... Who thought I would involve in such a fight in the first place? I felt like a totally bada*1 “Are you crazy? Why are you laughing? That b***h beat you just like how they did in the past..” Luke was annoyed. “Yeah she started to beat me, but I didn't let her just beat me... I gave her the return... So it was not like the past, Luke.’ I stated. Luke didn't say anything. He shook his head like he doesn't accept what I said. Then his eyes shifted to Shane, who was quiet all this time. “Why you let that bit** hit Sarah? Couldn't you stop her?” he questioned. “I didn’t know she was up to something like this, Luke... If I knew I would have stopped her” Shane quickly replied. “You knew or not, you are the reason she got into a fight with Sarah... As always, it is you who behind the suffering Sarah has to go through...” Luke shouted at Shane... Shane didn't say anything... He was just quietly standing up. “First, That bit** attacked Sarah during my birthday party. Can you remember how much they all beat up your sister? ” Lu asked. But without letting Shane say anything, he continued speaking. “How you can remember, you were pretty drunk. Also, you were so happy that she got beaten up, right? Did you even utte a word against it? Instead, You approved it. You appreciated that bit** for beating your own sister, and slept with her on that night as a reward, am I right?” Luke seemed furious... Shane was just staring at him, he didn’t even try to say something. I couldn't really understand what is going on. Luke never talks to anyone like this. He hates to hurt other people. So why talks to Shane like this? This is so unlikely of him... “Luke... There is no point in talking about the past... Shane has nothing to do with what happened today. Beth just thougt am having an affair with Shane because she didn't know I am his sister” I tried to explain. “He may have nothing to do with what happened today. But they all first started to bully you and hurt you because of hin just to impress him. He didn’t do anything to stop them. So they are just continuing that...” Luke yelled again. Shane was still quite... Why the hells he not speaking up for himself. This is so unlikely of Shane as well... He is never ready to get criticized by anyone, even if he has a fault in his hands. But now, he is just being quiet even when he has no mistakes from his side. I think 1 have to speak up for him. “Listen, Luke.."l said, standing up. "We don’t have to think of what happened in the past. Currently, no one is trying to hurt me or bully me. It is just Beth. SI is actually madly in love with Shane... That's the reason for her actions. Shane did what needed to be done today. He said in front of everyone that I am his sister, and also he specifically told everyone not to hurt me ever again...” I said. “He should have done that a long time ago. He wanted to make such a scene to tell everyone that you are his sister. Why couldn't let others know naturally? ” Luke asked. I was totally speechless, I didn't even know how to respond to Luke. “As always, he wanted to have other people's attention... As always, he wanted to be in the spotlight. He wanted to be the hero.” Luke said. I couldn't even believe it was Luke who was speaking like this. His words are like sharp knives. He had no empathy at all. “We both didn’t want to go to everyone and tell that we are siblings, Luke... Shane did what he had to do in that situation don’t think he wanted to be a hero. He just wanted to protect me, that's all...” I said. “You know nothing, Sarah... Even if he is your twin brother, you don't know anything about him. Who knows if he is the on who asked Beth to go and attack you so that he can be a hero in front of everyone... * Luke!!! You have gone insane! Do you at least know what are you talking about? I have never felt this angry with Luke. What has happened to my sweet, always cool Luke? “What I gain from such an action, Luke? Even if I get attention from other people, what is the use of it?” Shane talked for the first time. His voice was filled with pain... “You might think you can impress me that way!” Luke said. What!tll you have crossed all the limits, Luke! This is totally ridiculousit “Lukellt” I screamed at him. “Don't act like you are surprised, Sarah... You knew he has feelings for me, though you hid it from you.” Luke then yelled me. His words felt like a hard slap! “You.” he then turned to Shane and looked right into his eyes. “Never think you will be able to impress me... I thought you have really changed. But now I know you are just trying to get what you want. You are just the same old Shane... ” Luke growled at Shane and then left the room without even looking a me. I was just staring at the slammed door for a few seconds without knowing what to do. After I got out of shock for a bit, I looked at Shane. He was still staring at the door too... His eyes were filled with tears... His whole face was turned to bloody red! No words needed to express the deep sadness and pain he is experiencing. “shane... I talked to him gently. He looked at me like he just woke up after a nightmare... “Don't think much about what he said. I don’t know what has gotten into him. I will talk to him.” I said. “No, Sarah... You don't have to talk to him... What he told was right, except for what happened today. He knows exactly wh type of person I was in the past. So from his side, suspecting me is the right thing to do. He hates me, Sarah... He hates m for how I treated you... I think I deserve that for my stupid actions..” Shane said in a broken voice. “Noll You don't deserve that, Shane... You are trying so hard to change... That is not a fake and not stupid as well..” I said “I know you, believe me, Sarah... I know you have even forgiven me... But it seems like Luke has not forgiven me yet... He holds on to the past..” Shane said. “That is ridiculous... I will talk some sense to him." 1 said. “No... No... You shouldn't talk to him about this” he said firmly. “But why? He can't treat you like this." I asked confusedly. “If he understands me and loves me one day, that should be because he felt my love for him... No one should make him see things. He must see them and understand them on his own...” Shane replied calmly... I was staring at him as I saw him for the first time. His love for Luke is so deep and matured. Who thought this playboy would turn into such a mature lover?
