A Bride for a Merger

Chapter 28

"Hey Chris." The wretched woman said smiling widely as she came up to us.

I wanted to do nothing more than to wipe the stupid smile off of her plastic face, and threw her out the door.

"Oh Kim, "Christopher smiled at her. "Hey."

"Happy birthday Chris. I am sorry that I didn't get the chance to show up a bit earlier." she smiled before going in for a hug.

I stood their awkwardly like am idiot as I looked at the two people in front of me with surprise. For the most part, this woman hadn't even acknowledged my presence.

"Thanks," Christopher smiled before hugging her back. "I am glad that you are here now. Better late than never right?" "Exactly what I was saying." Kimberly laughed.

The entire exchange in front of me was ludicrous. Like really? I was right there and that stupid woman chose to come right infrint if us, acting all nice and sweet. And in addition to it all, the idiot beside me was gladly returning her hug and, laughing and joking around with her, as well as even telling her that he was glad that she was finally there?

Had he been the one who invited her? And yeah sure, you were glad Christopher, because who wouldn't be glad that their little bitchy skank lover showed up at their party.

Christopher knew how I felt about Kimberly. Especially after tge last time when he left me in the car to go chat with her and I left him. So why was he even entertaining here at the moment?

I couldn't help but wondered if there was any escaping from the bitch.

"Oh hi Allison. I didn't see you there, forgive me. "Kimberly smiled at me when she finally pulled away from Christopher. "It is so nice seeing you again."

"Kimberly," I stated dryly with a nod. "Wish I could say the same thing.

"Allison." Christopher said turning to me with pleading eyes.

"Look, I have to go to the bathroom alright. " I said to him before walking off.

"Wait, Alli. Allison." Christopher said catching up to me and helder on to my hand which caused me to stop just as I had reached the guest bathroom door. "There is nothing going on between me and Kimberly okay? I told you already that she is just an old friend from the past."

"Yeah, an old friend that wants you in her bed maybe." I responded bitterly.

"Allison come on. It is not like that." Christopher tried to reason with me.

"It is not? Then why is it that she keeps popping up every now and then in the present if she is the past? You are not very convincing right now Christopher." I said pulling my hand from him.

"Allison it is true." Christopher said to me. "She is the past."

"Did you invite her?" I asked accusingly.

"What? No, ofcourse not. How could I? I didn't even know that there was going to be a party remember? So how can you ask me that? And I wouldn't have invited her to a family dinner with you either." Christopher responded. "You have to trust me Allison. Like I said before, Kimberly is from my past."

"If that were really so, then you wouldn't need to keep telling me that every now and then. You would show me. Look Christopher, I don't want to deal with you or your stupid girlfriend right now okay? I just need to use the restroom." I said to him before bolting inside then slamming the door in his face and locking it.

"Alli! Allison...Allison!" I heard Christopher calling and knocking on the door.

I saw that he was trying to spin the the doorknob but it was thankfully it was locked, or he would have gotten in. I heard him sighed loudly before giving up and then I couldn't hear him anymore.

I sighed as I looked in the mirror. That woman Kimberly always seemed to bring out the worst in me. I didn't like her from the first time I had met her at that business function. And what she had said to me, made it worst. At first, I thought that I probably shouldn't have been that mad as I was that night when I drove away with Christopher's car. Mainly because then Christopher wasn't really much to me, but now it was different. We were together, giving each other a chance, so I shouldn't have had to be dealing with Kimberly.

Then again, I couldn't helped wondering if maybe I should just try to have a little more faith in and trust in Christopher. Even though he was always an ass then, I could see that he was finally trying to be better. So maybe I should just trust him for once, especially since one of the main rules and way to a healthy relationship was to build trust.

I sighed once more as I went to open the door. Maybe I was a little too harsh on Christopher earlier but in my defence, who could blame me? Especially knowing all of what that skank had said. And knowing of Christopher's old ways made it worst for me. Christopher wasn't outside the door when I came out of the bathroom, so I decided to go and find him. I went back to the room where the party was going on and where everyone was but I still didn't see him anywhere. I saw his mom and decided to go ask her if she saw him.

"Hey Tania, have you seen Christopher anywhere?" I asked her.

"Yeah, I believe that I just saw him went upstairs to his old room." Tania said to me.

"Oh okay, thanks." I said to her with a nod.

"Is everything okay dear?" Tania asked me.

"Yeah, yeah everything is fine." I smiled at her. "I just went to the bathroom and I seem to have lost him."

"Okay, well he went upstairs." she smiled. "You know where his old room is right?"

"Yeah, he showed me the last time we were here." I said to her,

"I think I'm just going to find him now then."

"Alright dear." his mom replied before leaving me.

I went to the staircase and started taking my time up the stairs. I was heading to where Christopher had shown me that his old room was, the last time we visited. The door was slightly ajar when I had reached it. I was about to call out but I could hear talking and it got me curious.

I walked closer to the door, only to see Kimberly and Christopher kissing. I didn't wait to see or hear anymore. I was totally shocked and hurt, and I just turned right back. What I saw had definitely hurt me.

At the moment, all I could think was that I must have been really stupid enough to believe that he had really just changed overnight for me. A leopard never changes is spots. I guess that I was finally seeing what he was truly about. I had seen his actions before and know he was a playboy, so why is it that he was able to fool me into thinking that he had suddenly changed and was different? I should have just stuck to the saying which says 'one good deed doesn't make him a king' or' a Leopard never changes its spots'.

It was evident, once an ass, always an ass.

I quickly went back downstairs. I took out my phone instantly and called a cab. After finally seeing Christopher's true colors again-even after we were giving our relationship a chance- that was all the persuasion and pushing that I needed to finally make up my mind to leave. I was no longer going to stay, I was officially done.

And with that thought, I discreetly found my way to the front door with tears burning my eyes and I left without a word to anyone.
