Chapter 25
Kenzi turned around to look at her mate.
“You! Stay right here, ...and behave!”
"Kenzi! What the hell are you doing! You’re not going inside, do you hear me!!"
Valk was furious, she deliberately ignored him. But when he tried to follow her, his path was blocked by the Orc.
“You’re not going in there pall...! I don’t know you, and I don’t trust you. You’re damn Yautja, a fucking hunter and you may look like my friend..., but you’re definitely not him...”
Valks mandibles flared a little, showing his fanged grin. Did the Orc really think he was able to stop him, ...really? Kenzi may have told him to behave, but he sure wasn’t a, ... what did she called those four legged, furry creatures humans used for the hunt...? A yes, dogs..., he wasn’t a dog and he would be a lousy Yautja, if he wouldn’t take on the Orc’s challenge...
Valk took a step towards the Orc, when all of a sudden Kenzi called out to him.
“VALK! VALK! GET THE HELL OVER HERE! IT’S HIM!”
Without giving the Orc another second of his attention, Valk jumped over the Orc and stood next to the two women in a matter of seconds.
Behind him he heard a heavy breathing of someone who wasn’t used to run. The bulky Orc had ran after him and was totally out of breath, as he wasn’t used to this kind of physical exersise.
“Fucking... Yautja...!” Orgrim was panting like an old horse and with his hands on his knees he bent his head down, clearly not used to sprinting.
None of the others paid any attention to the grumbling Orc, three sets of eyes were fixated on the unconsious man in the med unit.
“It’s him, the guy from the space station!”
Kenzi turned her gaze away from Valk and turned to Iris. “Are you sure his name is Kyr’nac?” Iris nodded.
“Yeah, I’m sure, after all, he told me himself... But why is his name so important to you?” Iris looked up at the giant standing next to her, his face was unfathomable.
"What’s wrong with him? Why doesn’t he heal? He’s Yautja, these wounds should have healt without a problem..." He glared at the tiny woman next to him.
“Well, to keep it short... Back on the space station I was attacked, Kyr’nac saved me and brought me to a doctor. There a group of rogues attacked and trapped us. They weren’t interested in him, they just wanted him to hand me over, but he ... ” Iris nodded her head towards the giant.
“... he refused to hand me over to Liu’an, and when they started shooting he shielded my body with his own. We would both would have been killed if Orgrim and the other Yautja hadn’t come in unexpectedly.”
Her eyes crossed the Orcs, which was still panting from his short sprint and gave him a little smile.
“Orgrim and the other Yautja arrived just in time to help us, unfortunately the other Yautja was seriously injured and to give us extra time to escape, he let his gaunlet explode. Before we left, he gave us the codes of us his ship, but neither one of us was able to control the ship, this could only be done by Kyr’nac. But as we reached space , Kyr’nac fell unconscious and he still is ...”
During her story, Valk kept his gaze focussed on the man in the medical pod. There was no daubt, this was his sire’s other child, his blood brother.
Without waiting for the female or the Orc’s permission, Valk reached over to the control system on top of the pod and started to swipe trough all the medical data availeble.
“What are you doing?!”
Iris felt nervous seeing the giant taking over the controls just like that, when neither she nor the Orc were capable of doing this earlier and her gut churned when he didn’t reply. All of a sudden she was afraid he was going to kill Kyr’nac instead of helping him.
She grabbed his arm and tried to pull it away. “Stop it! You’re going to kill him!!”
Valk yanked his arm from her grip and growled at her.
"If I wanted him dead, he would have been...!"
“Valk!”
Kenzi snapped at her mate, this was nonsense! He had no right to harrass the woman like this.
“What the hell are you doing?!”
He jerked his head to his size, his dreadlocks whipping through the air, almost hitting Iris in the face.
"I’m trying to save his live, what do you think I’m doing?! If I wait any longer, he’s dead! His organs are giving up! Take those two and let me do my job, woman!"
A venomous reply was on the tip of her tongue, but when she saw his tense expression, Kenzi knew her partner was deeply concerned and not deliberately rude to her.
When she finally left, Valk took a closer look at the man inside the med unity. There were only a few things that could cause so much damage to an enhanched Yautja body, and for what he had learned from the woman’s story, this man had an exo skeleton, just like him a sceleton that could only be penetrated by a handful of substances, one of them being kiande Ameda blood... That meant that the mans enemy knew exactly what he was doing, and although the woman might have thought their attackers were just after her, they defenately wanted him to die as well, otherwise they wouldn’t have this kind of weapons in their possession.
Given the scars the guy had all over his body and face, this defentately wasn’t the first time that these substances were used on him...
A growl appeared from the back of his throat, ... cowards ...
Valk inhaled deep ... The two of them were the last of their bloodline, this became clear from the data he had collected and searched with the help of Kenzi.
If he were to free the rest of his brethren, he needed the help of this man, and what a better way to guarantee help, then to save the life of a man, so he was in debts with you ...
Besides, the man was blood ... but for Valk the main reason was, the guy had helped him to save Kenzi, his little mate...
His sharp claws flew over the screen of the computer until he found what he was looking for and made various adaptations to the healing program.
From the side of the medical pod a thin, transparent hose came from the pod, connected to the man inside. Another tube was attached to a device that emerged from the ceiling, this hose contained a needle at the end.
Valk had attached the first hose onto the new device and inserted the needle into the vein of his left arm, this way he could still use his right arm when needed.
A kind of crutch rose from the floor, Valk sat down and pressed a button on the new device. A soft buzzing sound rose and the green blood started to slide through the tube from his arm to the device, and after a few seconds, the blood started to flow through the other hose that was inserted into the arm of the unconscious man.
For now, there was nothing more he could do than wait. He opened the top of his gaunlet.
"Kenzi..., could you come here... Take the two others with you..."
“Sure... Everything allright?” Her voice held a slight tremble.
"Yes, everything is fine..."
After a few moments, the threesome entered the ship and Iris quickly rushed over to were her giant was lying.
“Can you help him?” She asked as she was looking over all of the new equipment attached to the pod.
"Maybe..., but I need some things from my own ship." Valk turned to face his mate.
"I need all the data installed on our ship, transfered to this one. He..." and nodded his head in the direction of Kyr’nac.
"... isn’t exactly like me. But I’ll bet everything we need to know will be on that chip the doctor gave us."
But before Valk could continue, Iris interrupted him.
“Doctor? Do you mean Dokter Kiss?”
Valk frowned. ”Yes, that’s the one I’m reffering to..."
“well...Just before we were attacked, she gave Kyr’nac a small “object” ... she said, his father had given this to her. I don’t know where he put it, but I suspect in his pocket...”
In the clicking and growling Yautja language, Valk ordered the computer to locate the chip, and within seconds a small panel rose from the top of the pod, carying the same kind of chip Valk and Kenzi had received the doctor.
“What the hell is going on?” Orgrim was now very curious.
That new woman, ...Kenzi, had told them a few things, but what all of this had to do with his friend, was still a mistery to him.
Valk looked at the Orc from head to toe. Could he trust the man or not? ... the man lying unconscious in the Med Unit had apparently done so...
It was impossible to deny that his past hid more secrets than he had realized, and Valk knew he needed all the help he could get, whether he wanted it or not.
With only Kenzi’s help, he wasn’t able to do anything, especially now, with two pups on their way.
He bowed his big head towards the Orc.
"If you betray me, I’ll kill you, is that clear? Whether these two women want me to or not..."
Not least intimidated by the threat of the giant, Orgrim crossed his arms in front of his chest.
“I don’t like threats pal... but since you’re doing the best you can to help my friend over here... I’ll give you my word on the honor of my forefathers ...”
Valk knew honour was very important to “honourable” Orcs, as it was with Yautja and he nodded.
"Good ... I will try to keep it short, but first I will upload the data on this disc. If all goes well, it contains the same information as I received. With some visual examples, it’s easier to explain what’s going on... at least for what me and my mate were able to figure out..."
A few seconds later the hologram of Ranac appeared ...
