Chapter ~ 7~

β€œHey, you hungry?” I asked as I entered the living room Blaine was still on call with Elizia.

β€œFinally, I’ve been waiting forever,” Blaine said ecstatically as he rose to his feet. β€œSorry Elizia I have to let you go now I’ll talk to you later.” He said hanging up on her.

β€œSo, what did you guys talk about?” I asked as I brought the pasta and garlic bread to the table, I could practically see Blaine drooling as he stared at it blankly.

β€œNot much she was asking for advice on how she should approach this crush of hers.” He said finally tearing his eyes away from the bowl and moving towards the fridge.

β€œWhat did you tell her?” I asked curiously as I sat at the table scooping a big chunk of pasta on my plate. Blaine sat back down with his soda, scooping a huge portion onto his plate bigger than mine and two slices of bread.

β€œThere’s not really much I could have told her; I don’t really know the guy and she didn’t really specify much detail other than he’s a sports fan and he’s part of a sports club.” He said nonchalantly.

You had one chance to Elizia, just one chance and you couldn’t even do that. At this rate, you’re never going to confess to him. I thought to myself shaking my head.

β€œDid she tell you anything? Like maybe the name of this guy.”

β€œNot really,” I said as I began to eat my pasta trying really hard to suppress the urge to laugh. β€œAll she told me was he was part of the soccer team but not a lot of detail.

He’s very reserved and doesn’t really stand out much,” I said trying to use all the traits I knew about him without giving anything away.

Blaine looked at me thoughtfully as he munched on his bread, I could see his mind reeling as he scrolled through the soccer players in his mind.

β€œThat could literally be anyone.” He finished as he put his fork down.

Not really, I mean there is one thing I’m leaving out which is regardless of how he stands out he’s still very popular amongst the school very popular. I thought to myself as I eyed him down thinking of all the girls that flocked to him every year with love letters or outright confessing.

Blaine then started to continue to eat his mind reeling as he silently ate his food.

β€œWell, what would you tell her? If you knew the type of person, based on what she’s said? I’d probably tell her to just ask him the worst he could say is no.” I said as I went back to my food.

β€œWell, since I’m not exactly familiar with a lot of the guys on the team I’d probably agree with you since the worst thing she could happen is getting rejected, but if the guy is what you’ve explained he might not be so bold about rejecting her so it won’t hurt as bad,” Blaine added as he lifted his can to take another drink.

β€œI guess you’ve got a point I just hope it works out for her she seems to really like him,” I said hesitantly. Even though I know Elizia well it is hard to understand when she likes somebody since, she’s so straightforward and doesn’t tolerate any bull shit from them.

Blaine stretched as he pushed his chair.

β€œGod, I feel fat, how big is my stomach? I feel like I just gained 50 pounds.”

β€œHa-ha, if you feel fat then I must be a whale.” I laughed as I leaned back into the chair, the legs scraping on the hardwood.

β€œNo but you definitely must feel like one, totally worth it though that is some really good pasta,” Blaine said as he grunted to his feet.

β€œYeah, one and its whole family.” I joked as I slowly rose to my feet picking up my plate and moving to the sink.

Blaine stood behind me as I washed my plate, the taste of garlic bread still in my mouth as I tried to suppress a burp.

β€œHere let me deal with it you cooked I’ll wash.”

I looked at him for a moment as he took the plate from me and shoved me away from the sink with his hip.

β€œAre you sure? I don’t mind doing the dishes.” I asked.

β€œHand me the rest of the dishes on the table I’ll wash those two, and can you do me a favor and pack some of this pasta I am taking some home.”

I looked at him as he ignored me leaving his hand out to accept the dishes.

β€œFine,” I said as I made my way to the table scraping the leftover pasta in a Tupperware container and handing him the dishes.

I leaned against the counter and watched him for a moment when my phone vibrated in my pocket startling me.

β€œHow is the pasta?” Elizia texted.

β€œGood though I think we overate; we feel super bloated right now,” I replied

β€œha-ha sounds good I’m jealous.” She said with a laughing emoji.

β€œI heard you couldn’t do it.”

β€œYeah, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it you know I just have this strong feeling he’s going to say no.”

β€œYou never know, the worst thing you could get told is no but you’ll never find out if you don’t tell him.”

β€œI guess you’ve got a point, but…”

β€œBut what?” I texted.

β€œIs that Elizia?” Blaine asked startling me that I almost knocked my phone out of my hand.

β€œYeah, we’re just talking about the pasta and her fears about asking the guy out.”

Blaine looked at me then at my phone then went back to the dishes.

β€œI’m surprised she is so nervous; I’ve never seen her struggle so much to ask a guy out he must be something to even make her hesitant.”

I chuckled to myself as I glanced back at my phone. You have no idea. I thought as I waited for her reply.

β€œAny replies?” Blaine asked as he put the towel down on the counter.

β€œNo, maybe she went to bed or something,” I suggested. Blaine looked at me unconvinced before moving out of the kitchen.

β€œOr maybe she just doesn’t know how to talk to you about it and ghosted you.”

I looked at him as he walked towards the living room nonchalantly. Maybe… I thought as I followed him to the couch.

β€œAre you doing, okay?” Blaine finally asked after a moment of silence.

β€œYeah, I’m fine why do you ask?”

β€œWell, today’s your parent’s anniversary and you just came back from visiting them this morning, unless you suddenly morphed into another person you don’t normally walk around so… Unfazed at least once or twice do I catch you sniffling or wiping your eyes trying to hide the secret tears you think no one sees.”

I looked at him blankly then thought of this morning my chest aching at the dream that plagued my mind and the strange words mom uttered as she passed back and forth in the living room.

Damn, I still wanna know what’s in the box maybe I should open it maybe it will have the answers I seek.

β€œOh, I’m fine really I am surprised to that I…” I looked down at my hands my mind thinking about everything that I had witnessed.

β€œI have a question ask you, why were you gathering so many starfish back when we were kids?” I asked.

Blane looked at me funny then looked at the screen thoughtfully, as an add ran across the screen about some sort of shampoo. After moments of silence, I looked at him to see if he was ignoring me.

β€œYou remember that? Honestly, I can’t really remember that but I do remember going on a beach as a child with you and Mira.”

I guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised it was a long time ago and we were really young in the memory. I thought as I leaned back on the couch.

β€œWhy the sudden question?” Blaine asked as he glanced at me. The sound from the TV echoed around us as it played a random episode of something.

β€œNo reason,” I said nonchalantly as I focused on the random character who was fighting with another character about something. β€œIt’s just something I suddenly remembered.”

Blaine looked at me hesitantly, not paying attention to the screen, his eyes fixated on mine as he thought.

β€œOkay, sure I’ll go with that.” He said turning his attention back to the TV as if he was watching it.

β€œZaphira? What exactly do you remember from when we were kids?” She asked suddenly as he looked at me.

That’s A strange question, why is he asking that? Wait does he know something That I don’t?

I looked at him confused, but his eyes said something else as he shifted his focus on various things around me.

β€œNow who’s asking weird questions?” I said mockingly as I looked at him. β€œWhy do you ask?”

Blaine looked nervous as he glanced down at his shoes. β€œNo reason, I was just curious since you were asking weird questions, I thought I’d ask my own.”

β€œOkay then let me ask you what do you remember from our childhood and don’t say the delicious pasta my mom made.”

β€œOh, come on it’s one of the best parts.” He whined as he looked at me.

β€œNope, it has to be something separate from the pasta it has to be… about anything but that,” I said as I tried to think of anything outside of my dream.

β€œOkay fine, I’d probably have to say the trip we made to Mer haven… Then again maybe I was dreaming because I had way too much fun there.” Blaine said sounding almost childlike.

β€œMur haven? I don’t remember going out there maybe it was a dream because I don’t remember and if we did, I am pretty sure I would have it’s a very beautiful place.” I spoke.

β€œOkay, what about you what do you remember?” He asked smirking.

I thought hard trying to think of something that had nothing to do with my dream but all that I could think of was the dream and every single memory that played.

β€œProbably the day we were upstairs painting and you knocked over the green paint so you had to go tell mom and hoped she wasn’t going to be super mad,” I said caving as I thought about the memory too bad, I couldn’t remember the painting that we were making.

Blane looked at me for a long moment as he thought.

β€œPainting? ….” He said thoughtfully as he looked at the wall beside the Tv. β€œOh, yeah I remember that now…. Wow! how do you remember that? Blaine asked surprised.

β€œI haven’t thought about that day in… Forever I’m not sure who has the better memory you or me.” He teased.

I smiled, even though I knew wasn’t because I had a really good one but because of the dream. The dream that for some reason was revealed things I shouldn’t be able to even see much less remember.

β€œBlane Can I… β€œ

Shit, how do I bring it up to him?

Blane looked at me curiously as he studied me.

β€œWhat is it Zaphira?”

How should I tell him? My dreams… and What about the box? I really want to see what’s in the box.

β€œOkay,” Let's see how do I start? β€œI am curious about the box?”

β€œOh, really let’s open it,” Blane suggested.

β€œReally! We should I have an annoying curiosity picking at me.” I said as I moved to the Table where the Box still sat.
