Chapter ~ 10 ~

I sat in the doctor’s office next to Blane, tears dripping down my eyes as I tried to keep my ankle in one spot.

Damn, why do sprained ankles have to hurt? Feels like my ankle is being stabbed by several tiny knives. I thought as I struggled to reach for a comic on the table, my foot trying its hardest to move with my actions.

β€œI wonder who made the necklace its really well made it looks like it was made from gold or something,” Blane said as he looked at the necklace.

My chair screeched as I tried to get close without getting up when Blanes hand gripped my arm.

β€œPeople’s magazine or Archie’s weird mysteries?” Blane asked reaching for one of the magazines. I glanced at him then frowned.

β€œArchie’s,” I said deflated as a leaned back on the chair. I watched as Blane reached for the comic then passing it to me as if I was some kid he was babysitting.

β€œIt could be silver painted as gold I said as I opened the comic.

I glanced at the ring on my finger, my hand resting on the book when Something shimmered in the stone.

Huh… Did I just…. No, I couldn’t have. But what did I just see?

I waited; my eyes glued to the ring as if I was waiting for something to happen when I saw something shimmer from the ring again.

A line appeared in the corner, blinking then stopped when another line popped up on the other side blinking like the other line.

What the heck is this? It looks like a clock or something…. But on a ring.

Moments later a strange color appeared on in the background multiple colors spiraling like a small galaxy.

What the heck? Is this? where did the colors come from?

β€œZaphira?” The nurse called as she stood by the door looking out for a person with my name. Blane rose to his feet to help me out guiding me to the nurse who was waiting for us.

β€œJust go to room three the doctor will be with you shortly the nurse said as she waited in between the rooms until we entered.

β€œI’m not exactly sure if I want to be seen by this doctor,” I said nervously as I sat on the black leather chair.

β€œYeah, I know but your doctors too far on foot,” Blane said as he sat on the chair beside me. β€œBesides, he can’t be that bad if he’s got patients coming in and out.”

I sighed as I looked at all the posters on the wall, explaining various diseases or how to prevent illnesses.

β€œDoctor’s offices always freaked me out,” said as I looked at a poster that talked about kidney failure and what causes it, and how to prevent it. β€œIt just feels like a place of ominous energy like you’re doomed if you come here.”

β€œYeah, because your ankle is life-threatening,” Blane said jokingly as he looked at me.

β€œWell, you never know, it could just be of sprained ankle one minute next you know it could be a blood clot that will lead to my death,” I said defensively.

β€œI think you watch way too much Mary’s Anatomy, you should probably find something else to watch,” Blane said.

β€œI do there is a very interesting and hilarious TV show called Scrubs, it’s both terrifying and hilarious.”

β€œMaybe one that’s not about doctors and weird unexplainable diseases that people walk into the hospital with, why don’t you watch something like… I don’t know Young Catharine or maybe The Science Theory, I know you like the drama between Lenard, Penny, and Catharine that will be more up your alley.” Blane said nonchalantly.

I frowned as I looked at him annoyed. β€œI do like them but I can still watch doctor shows it's not bad to be cautious.”

β€œOr paranoid,” Blane said sounding upset. He said as he looked at a poster.

I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling before standing up with Blane gripping my waist. β€œWell, that’s good at least your ankle will be fine in a few days,” Blane said sounding relieved as he guided me out the doctor’s office.

β€œYeah, me too though I hate how I’ll be in pain for days,” I said as we walked slowly down the street.

Blane said nothing as we made our way to school. I guess it is of benefit that the doctor’s offices really close to the school. I thought as I could see the school slowly come into view.

β€œI’ll try to help you as much as I can throughout the day, just let your teachers know that you have a sprained ankle so you’ll be late to each class.”

I nodded as we got closer to the school the sound of the bell ringing outside startling me.

β€œI guess we missed the first period,” I said sounding pleased. God, I hate the first period. I thought as Blane opened the front door, I could see students coming out of their classes and quickly making for their lockers, or just speed walking to their next class to avoid being late.

We made her way to the principal’s office opening the glass doors to the secretary, Mrs. White strum sat clicking away on the keyboard unaware of our presence.

β€œGood morning,” Blane said politely as he leaned on the counter. Mrs. white strum looked up from the computer to glance at Blane slightly puzzled.

β€œGood morning, Mr. Valentine.” She said slightly cheerful before glancing at me.

β€œSorry we're late, Zaphira has a sprained ankle and I had to take her to the doctors to see if she was able to come to school it is pretty bad,” Blane said calmly as he handed the doctor’s note to her.

What am I a child? I could have told her that myself. I thought slightly annoyed as I glared at Blane who wasn’t paying any attention to me.

β€œMy goodness, are you okay Miss Xian?” The secretary asked as she leaned over to take a glance at my foot.

β€œI’ll be fine, I just have to be careful when walking on it.” I said politely.

β€œOkay then,” she said as she pulled out a pen and a small piece of paper. I watched her scribble something on it intently, her cursive writing almost unreadable. β€œJust hand this to your teachers during each period.” Mrs. white strum said handing me the paper. I nodded as I took the paper and watched as she scribbled something on Blaine’s paper and handed it to him.

β€œThanks,” Blane said politely as he pulled me closer to him and guided me out of the office.

β€œThanks for taking me,” I said as he helped me get to my locker, leaning on another as he waited for me to put my books away.

β€œNo worries, you know I have no problems helping you,” Blane added as I put my things away then closed my locker.

β€œBlane! Oh goodness, you’re here I was really worried that you were sick or something.” A voice said from behind me startling me. I turned my head to see Raven running towards us with a huge smile on her face.

β€œRaven?” Blane said nonchalantly as he turned towards her. Raven came to a stop in front of Blane her eyes meeting mine as she glared at me.

β€œWhat do you think you’re doing Zaphira?” Raven asked disgustedly as she stared me down her eyes widening as she noticed Blaine’s arm wrapped around my waist.

β€œWhat’s it look like? trying to get the class.” I said annoyed.

β€œReally because it looks like you are snuggling next to Blane to me.” Growled raven with discussed.

β€œShe sprained her ankle Raven I’m just making sure she gets to class okay,” Blane interjected as he looked at Raven confused.

β€œYou’re such a good person,” Raven said romantically as she leaned closer to him. β€œYou’re always trying to help the unfortunate.”

I wanted to claw her eyes out as she looked affectionately at Blane. What a liar. I thought as I wiggled myself free from Blane. The sooner I get away from here the better. I thought as I made the mistake of putting pressure on my foot.

β€œZaphira didn’t I say to be careful?” Blane asked as he caught me, his arm wrapping around my waist again as I took the pressure off my foot.

I can see Raven’s glare as she tried to remain poised in front of Blane, but I swear it felt like she was trying to cut me with her scary gaze.

β€œI should probably get her to class I’ll see around Raven,” Blane said as he helped me turn around. Well, it looks like Elizia has it cut out for her. I thought as we got to my classroom.

β€œZaphira!” Elizia said from her seat, Blane helped me get to my spot plopping me down before stretching.

β€œWhat happened? Are you okay?”

β€œShe’s fine, she just sprained her ankle pretty bad last night,” Blane said glancing at Elizia who I thought was about to explode, her face brightening like a tomato. β€œI’ll catch you later Zaphira be careful.” He reminded before turning and leaving the classroom.

β€œYou can stop looking he’s gone now,” I said nonchalantly as I opened my bag and pulled out my notes.

β€œWhat now?” Elizia asked shaking her head before turning to me.

β€œWhy don’t you just ask him out already? I mean I thought you already did on the phone.”

I couldn’t and I can’t, what if he rejects me?”

β€œYeah, and what if Raven gets to him before you do?” I asked as I shuddered at the thought.

β€œWhat? There’s no way she’d have to be here to—”

I could see the color drained from Eliza's face as she looked at me fearfully.

β€œYeah, I saw her when heading to class, it was horrible she was just losing it from seeing me being helped from Blane and seeing me in his arms I thought she was going to have a heart attack.”

Elizia said nothing she just continued to stare at me horrified as if I just betrayed her deeply.

β€œElizia? Are you okay?” I asked swaying my arms in front of her.

β€œThis is not good, this is horrible.” She finally said shakily as she turned to her desk watching the protective layer over the wood.

β€œWhy do I have a feeling that this has nothing to do with me getting punched in the face by Raven,” I said to myself.
