Chapter RADOLF CLAWMARK
THIRD PERSON POV:
"Bella!" Hazel's voice cracked as she rushed toward her, the globe clutched tightly against her chest.
"No, stay back!" Halle's voice cut through the chaos.
Bella staggered to her feet, clutching her side where Sue had struck her.
"But she's dying!" Hazel's voice was shrill, filled with panic and anger.
Bella barely registered their words. The sound of her own heartbeat pounded in her ears, growing fainter with each passing moment. Her head drooped, and she let out a weak, shuddering breath. Darkness started to creep into her vision, the edges of her consciousness slipping away. She could heal, but not regenerate an arm, and she was in fear cause her to bleed too much, making it difficult to focus on healing. Evelyn rushed to her, holding her and trying to apply pressure to the bleeding arm. She was scared her daughter would die.
Then the ground trembled beneath them.
At first, it was a faint vibration rippling through the earth. But within moments, it grew into a violent quake. Rocks split, the earth groaning as deep cracks spider-webbed across the ground. Soon, the rock shifted slightly, causing fear rippling through their hearts.
"It is done," Halle said.
"What's happening?!" Hazel cried, her grip tightening on the globe. "Radolf is coming," Evelyn answered, holding Bella tightly.
"Stay with me, baby," she said to Bella, who just stared at her mother without a word.
A blinding light erupted from the ground, causing everyone to shut their eyes. Then an intense wave of heat and energy poured out, accompanied by a guttural roar.
A towering figure emerged from the fractured rock, his form wreathed in flames and shadow. It was Radolf Clawmark. His fiery gaze swept across the area. Everyone had seen Enzo and thought of him as scary, but Radolf looked worse. He radiated raw power, the force of his presence enough to send a shiver down Hazel's spine.
The witches stopped chanting, and the globe went off. For a moment, everything stood still as Radolf turned his attention to Bella's dying form. Without thinking twice, he moved to her with inhuman speed. Evelyn let go of Bella in shock, and he caught her almost lifeless body.
"Don't interfere!" Halle commanded Hazel, who looked like she was about to fight Radolf.
Radolf's eyes bore no emotion as he stared at Bella. He knew who she was, but it seemed like he was disgusted by her weak figure.
"Pathetic!" he growled, slamming his hand to her chest. Hazel gritted her teeth, and all she could think of was taking him on. She was a hybrid-three supernaturals in one.
Radolf's hand penetrated into Bella's body, causing her to let out a loud groan. She was in so much pain, and at this point, she silently begged for death. Her body arched suddenly, her back lifting off the ground as a golden light engulfed her. She let out a blood-curdling scream, her body writhing in agony as Radolf began to merge with her.
"We need to stop him! He is going to kill her!" Bonnie yelled. She was dead, but seeing her best friend in pain tore through what was left of her.
"I said stand back!" Halle roared, her eyes glowing. "We all have to sacrifice something in order to get what we want." Her words put everyone in fear.
Radolf's form dissolved into a blinding glow, seeping into Bella's skin. Her veins pulsed with fiery energy, the power overwhelming her as her screams echoed through the night.
Hazel watched in stunned silence as Bella's body convulsed. The glow intensified, and with one last burst of light, Bella collapsed to the ground, motionless. Hazel rushed toward her at once, but then she stopped as she saw Bella's severed arm replaced by a perfectly healed one. Her breathing was steady, though she remained unconscious. This gave her a bit of relief.
"She's alive, and no one should interfere." Halle said to them.
"So, what do we do now?" Evelyn asked, and Halle sat on the ground with her legs crossed.
"We sit and wait for them to have whatever transaction in there," she said, then shut her eyes, trying to meditate. Everyone else sat around Bella while Hazel lay down beside her.
No one had a clue what was happening except Halle. Radolf had just merged with Bella, and she would have to fight for her life to regain it. He was the light, and Enzo was darkness, but nothing good comes easy.
**
The vampires were waiting when Sue arrived at the ritual site. Torches lined the clearing, their flames casting light over the stone circle carved into the earth. Ancient symbols glowed faintly, etched into the ground and pulsing with power. Around the perimeter stood a dozen witches, their hands raised, chanting in unison. Their voices vibrated in the air, amplifying the tension.
Enzo stood in the center of the circle with a grin on his face. He could almost feel his journey to immorta coming to an end. The moment he saw Sue without Bella, his face contorted into a frown.
"You are late, and where is my hybrid?" he asked, and Sue tossed Bella's severed arm at his feet.
"I had some distractions, but I got her hand. All we need is her blood. She will be dead after this ritual, so we do not need another corpse in our den."
Enzo's gaze flickered briefly to the arm, his smirk widening as he knelt, touching the lifeless flesh. "So much power lies in something so small," he said, then turned to his army. "Let the wolves fall!" he commanded.
One vampire with them took the arm from Enzo, draining the fresh blood from the arm into a jar before tossing the arm away.
The head witch, cloaked in black, stepped forward and raised her hands. A silver dagger gleamed in her grip. She whispered some spells, her voice merging with the chants, and suddenly, the forest fell silent. Then screams tore through the night as the captured wolves began to fall one by one to their deaths, their blood staining the field. Sue crossed her arms, a cruel smile tugging at her lips.
"Pathetic creatures," she said, the crying of the wolves enticing her.
One by one, they dropped to the ground-slain, not by claws or fangs, but by pure, merciless magic. Their bodies crumpled, lifeless, as the ritual claimed them.
Sue and Enzo watched, unbothered, as the lives of the four hundred werewolves were snuffed out.
"It's done. We have the souls needed." One witch said.
Enzo stepped forward into the center of the circle, his arms outstretched. "And now, for the last piece." The glass jar holding Bella's blood was brought forward. Sue smirked. "This is it."
She felt proud of herself, and she hoped that when Enzo got his immortality, he would finally acknowledge her. Now that Bella was out of the picture, she was very sure her life would take a good turn.
The witches began to chant again, louder; the ground vibrating with their voices. The runes on the circle glowed brighter, and Enzo tilted his head back, his black eyes rolling to white as the energy swirled around him. The jar was placed at the center, and the head witch touched it, uttering the last words of the spell.
The wind howled, flames rose higher, and Enzo let out a guttural roar as the energy began to seep into him. His veins turned black, pulsing with raw power, his body rigid as it absorbed the souls of the fallen wolves.
For a moment, it seemed to be working. The forest trembled, the earth itself responding to the power being released. But as the energy reached its peak, and the witch moved to pour Bella's blood into the circle, something changed.
The blood in the jar began to darken, its crimson shade turning black as ink. The glow in the runes flickered violently, and the witches broke their chant. "What's happening?!" Sue shouted, spinning toward the lead witch.
The jar cracked suddenly, and a burst of black smoke erupted from it. The blood inside hissed as though alive, and tendrils of darkness spread across the circle.
The torch flames died, plunging the area into complete darkness. "No!" Enzo roared, stumbling forward as the power he'd been absorbing was ripped away. The circle's glow faded to nothing, leaving only silence in its wake.
The witches staggered back, their faces pale with horror.
"The spell is incomplete," the head witch gasped, clutching her chest. "Something... something is wrong with the blood."
Sue's face twisted in fury as she turned on the witches.
"Fix it! Now!"
"We can't," the lead witch stammered. "It's tainted. Her blood-it's... rejecting the ritual."
Enzo let out a roar of frustration, his eyes glowing red in the darkness.
"What did you do to her blood, Sue?"
Sue frowned, her confidence replaced with unease. "I did nothing! This isn't possible."
