Zenora, The Dragon's Fury

Chapter 51. Completion

“Your daughter is a druid.” Cirilya said.

William’s reaction was to be completely in shock, which was understandable. He nearly fainted from the thought of his daughter having powers, so we helped him to sit on a chair.

Cirilya had noticed that during Amelia’s song, her voice resembled much of the Elven songs and sounds. But because she was singing her song in English, instead of Elfish, Cirilya wasn’t sure why her voice sounded so familiar. But the further her song went, and the way that the red Gryphon reacted to her, and then finally, what she saw on the ground, made her realize more and more, what was going on. As if the little blades of grass, and tiny, white daisies between her feet, wasn’t enough to realise, the green colour of her eyes, right before she passed out, did.

“The only thing that is confusing though, is why a Human, suddenly would become a druid.” Cirilya said.

“Yes, that’s what I’m wondering as well. I mean, I know that while being in my presence for a while, can awaken someone’s ancient power, but still the druid’s powers have only ever belonged to Elves.” I said.

“Well… maybe because her mother was part Elf, could contribute with that?” William asked, while he scratched the back of his head.

Cirilya and I both laughed at his question.

“Yes, that would be the reason how this all could be.” I said to him.

Within a few hours, Amelia had awoken, and now several weeks later she was having fun with the red Gryphon, which she actually had given the name ‘Diva’. Besides that, she was also being trained by Cirilya, into understanding her powers, and teaching her the druid’s spells.

Every now and then, I would be there with the training as well, since I have never had any druid training either.

But with training all my other powers, spending some days with trials, and doing other Queen’s duties, my life has become quite busy. So, I can’t attend to all the things that I want. I have to divide my time, by prioritizing all my tasks.

Also in between all these crazy things, Archeops had returned with his men, but unfortunately they haven’t found Hayden. As when they reached the campsite where he was stationed, during my nightmare, he was gone already.

We had set up a few new defence mechanisms, which in case of Hayden coming here, would prepare us to the best of our capabilities.

We would be getting a new searching team in a few days, as we are not going to give up. Hayden will be captured and is going to be killed by my own hands.

Furthermore, we decided to also get a group ready to search for the children that he has maybe left behind. Hayden hadn’t told us where he grew up, he only ever said that it was in a town far from here. So, maybe that’s where he took the children.

I was having five minutes of free time, so I was watching how Tyler and Amelia were being trained to ride their Gryphons, on the new saddles that Brock had ordered to be made.

It was still marvellous to see that the stubborn Diva, was now so attached to this little girl, and had a complete character turn-around from the moment she became Amelia’s partner.

“Are you coming my Queen? I’d like you to see the stairs that we have built.” Rebecca asked me.

It was only a few more weeks until the Great Banquet was to be held, and I had promised Rebecca to spend some time with her arrangements. So, I nodded, and followed after her.

We took a walk through the castle, to get to the door where the servants enter and leave. Then we walked pass the servant’s house and there I saw a beautiful sight. Poles were being slammed into the ground, where in between large white cloths were tightly strung. Above those cloths hung bright lights, that shone downwards, and because they were above the cloths, the light was dimmed underneath it, and gave a beautiful sight. On the grass beneath it all, stood long tables, with wooden benches alongside them.

“Do you want it to be all white, or can we be more creative? And do you like the carved benches, or do you prefer chairs? I wasn’t sure because you wanted a chic banquet, but then again it is outside so…” Rebecca rambled on.

“Why don’t you throw in some purple, within the flower arrangements on the tables, and put up some standing tables as well, around the area where people can dance. And then keep the table cloths light and flowy, but pick the silver cutlery and take the plates with the silver decorations. How does that sound?” I said to her, after I had read her mind a little.

“But that’s what I was thinking exactly!” She said.

I winked at her, and then she made an ‘o’ shape with her mouth, suddenly remembering that I could read her mind. And her mind is beautiful. She already had in her mind, what I wanted, even before I knew, that I wanted that.

We kept on walking to the cliff, where the stairs was built as we speak.

There on the side of the stone wall, the steps of the stairs were being laid down by heavy men. And the wooden handrails were being made alongside it as well. The stairs didn’t make its way all to the bottom yet, but it looked solid and gorgeous already.

It would be beautiful when the lights that Anna is making with her fellow engineers, were done and attached to the stone wall too. They would guide our guests down safely, for them to enjoy the setting sun, and at midnight the full moon.

“Oh, by the way Rebecca, there will be children too. Could you build a fence at the edge of the cliff, like three yards away from it, so they would be held back at a safe distance? And I want William to discuss with Dennis for security alongside the cliff, and down at the beach too.”

“Yes Milady, I’ll get right to it.” Rebecca replied and wanted to walk away.

“Rebecca, It looks beautiful and you are doing a great job. I really like it.” I said with a smile, and only then she started to relax and the biggest smile came upon her face.

She had been holding in a breath, of which she didn’t know. Yet, I could tell that she was desperately waiting to find out if all her hard work was pleasing me. Which it did, a lot.

Suddenly, a mix of nausea, pain and stress came washing over me. I became light headed and bend forward, grabbing Rebecca’s shoulder and I screamed out in anguish.

“Milady! What is wrong!” Rebecca yelled, but I couldn’t reply.

The pain was strongly familiar and I knew exactly what was going on, yet I couldn’t say a word, because the nausea took over and I vomited right there on the grass.

I felt a few other hands rub my back, the emotion of fear bouncing of the people that came close. The bile rose up again from my stomach, and I hurled once more on the same patch of grass.

My sight became blurry, yet my mind was working overtime.

“A… Ay…. Get me to… Ayinthur!” I yelled to everyone that stood close by.

Some took a step backwards, noticing my purple eyes glowing brighter than ever!

In the distance, a magnificent roar was heard, and quickly I had let Brock know what was going to happen, through the mind-link. I felt those same hands that rubbed my back earlier, carry me towards the back of the castle, towards the stone shelter that was built behind the training fields.

My daughter is hatching!
