Zenora, The Dragon's Fury

Chapter 43. Nightmare

“Give up your throne.”

“Never! Not in a million years, would you get to earn the right to sit on my father’s throne!”

“Then you will never be released from this nightmare.”

“I don’t care! As long as I occupy your mind from hurting my loved ones, I’ll keep screaming for an eternity!”

Hayden was tormenting my dream for what felt like hours already. So much for a good night’s rest!

I tried to wake up from it, but he kept me in sleep with some dark spell.

He was trying to get me to step down, giving up my title and give it to him. But I wasn’t going to let him take it. He will only do bad things when his ugly ass warms up that seat. He tried every argument to get me to listen to him, but every time he tried to talk to me, I mentally screamed and yelled like a small kid. I could tell he was getting annoyed by it, but he was determined to keep me tied up in the dark.

“She is…, I’ll give…” I heard him mumble silently.

“You were saying?” I asked him.

“What? I’m not saying anything!” He yelled back

Is he getting crazy now? Will he finally give up and release me?

“That bitch! Why won’t she…” He mumbled again.

“I can clearly hear you speak Hayden, calling me bitch for instance.”

“I didn’t say a word, you’re going mental!” He yelled angrily.

Ha! I can hear his thoughts! Let’s see if I can invade his mind.

I tried to go into the direction the voice came from, which is strange, as I was doing this in a dream. In dreams you can’t run or see colours, yet I could do both. Around me was a yellowish glow and in the far distance I could see a pale blue colour, getting closer as I mentally went into that direction.

He stood with his back towards me, still trying to persuade me into giving up my throne. He stomped his feet when I didn’t reply to his words, he was getting totally annoyed by my character.

I went further, until I was able to reach his shoulder. Softly I tapped it, and with wide open eyes he turned around and looked at me.

“How, how…” He stuttered.

“You do realise that I’m the Chosen one right? My mages power to invade minds, is much stronger than this dark spell.” I said to him, while gazing into his dark eyes.

Before he could end the spell, I invaded his mind even further, to find out where he was. And just like the other two invisible mind-walls I have come across before, I tapped this one and it crumbled upon my touch. Hayden screamed, he wasn’t used to this intrusive power, as he was usually the one to deal the blows.

I went to look for his location and suddenly all around me, the darkness faded away and turned into the sight of a square tent. At looking around I saw the view from out the door of the tent, showing a dry land, with strange creatures passing by.

There was also a strange smell, the putrid sense of sulphur reaching up my nostrils, at which I held up my nose.

“Where are you Hayden?”

“I’m not telling you! Get out of my mind!” He yelled angry.

“It is your own fault that I’m here Hayden, you underestimated me. So, why not show me around?”

I mentally shoved his shoulder, to walk outside of the tent. The strange creatures that I saw before, were in plenty of numbers, being herded together with men on horses carrying crossbows with nets.

Some of the creatures were spitting acid, trying to get rid of the nets that were surrounding them. But the nets were too strong, made of a metal that wouldn’t succumb to the sulphuric acid that the creatures spewed out.

They were looking exhausted, their wings not able to carry them into the air again. Together they were herded into a hole in the ground, which was then closed by a gate on top of it. Then, sand was thrown upon them, not to bury them, but to diminish their acid spewing power, as the sand would make their throats dry, unable to spit the acid again.

They look beautiful though. Their green, shiny scales, lining up perfectly along their long and thin snake-like bodies. Followed by their feathery small wings, who could easily carry their light-weight bodies up in the air. Except for now that is. They have been fighting against Hayden’s men for quite some time, so they have no energy left, to fly away.

These creatures don’t have feet, paws or legs, they were either able to fly, or to slither on the floor like a snake. I assume them to be strong, agile, and good for quick combat situations.

But when Hayden attacked us, his men almost only consisted of warriors and mages, and not much hunters. So, what will he do with them then? Why does he need at least twenty of these creatures?

For a moment I got distracted by these creatures, almost forgetting at what I am to do here. Quickly I looked around, but the place didn’t look familiar to me at all.

A dead forest in the distance, a dry field with holes in the ground behind me, and then these creatures. We have been traveling here and there, over the past five years, but I have not seen these creatures before.

“If you are not going to tell me, where we are right know, I will find out soon. Don’t worry Hayden, your life is mine to take!” I stated to him.

He had fear and confusion in his eyes, not knowing how this was possible. Nor did I know, that I was capable of it, but knowing that I have all the powers to my command, I just gave it a shot.

I was done here, for now. I overloaded his mind, with pain. Torturing pain, to make him release me.

“I won’t let you go!” He said while screaming with his hands on his head.

I pushed some more energy into his direction. The pain I have endured when being tortured by Markus, when Brock broke up with me, and last, the pain I went through in giving birth to my daughters egg.

He contorted in pain, writhing on the floor, down at my feet.

The images of the tent and creatures were gone again, leaving us in the dark of our minds.

“Okay! Stop! Please stop with the pain! I-I’ll release you!” He begged.

That sight of him, begging me to stop, was such a pleasure to experience.

But yet it was also frightening my own thoughts. I still don’t like the mindset that comes along with the mage or warrior, but I have to accept them anyway. All of the abilities are part of me, and I was dumb enough to have them blocked by my own naïve thinking.

So, here I am. Torturing the man that killed my father.

“I’ll stop what I’m doing, only to make you realise what I am capable off. I don’t care if I have to search through all of Zenora, to find you. I’ll hunt you down, and you will be my own personal thing to embark my anger upon.” I said, before ending the pain.

Instantly he released the spell, and I awoke abruptly.

Sitting up straight in bed, taking in a few deep breaths, as I tried to calm down my heartbeat.

“Love, are you alright?” Brock asked, when he woke up from my movement.

“Yes, now I am. But we have to get to the war room.”
