Your Man IS NOT My Mate

Chapter It Just Sorta Happened

"I'll see you around." I smile, waving at Alaric as we part to go our separate ways.

"Hey." I look over my shoulder to see Adrian coming towards me, slight confusion on his face as his eyes dart between me and the retreating form of Alaric. "When did you guys get so close?"

My mind immediately travels back to two weeks ago when Alaric promised to try... and honestly, he really has been. He is nicer, friendlier... to me at least. He's even started to smile more, albeit only when it's just the two of us. The thought makes me smile. "It just sorta happened." I shrug.

"Hmm." Adrian appears deep in thought, but after awhile he just nods and takes my hand, leading me the rest of the way to my class.

We reach my classroom door and he plants a gentle kiss on my lips, then releases me before turning to go to his own class.

"Miss. Parker, a word with you after class please." Mr. Michael, my science teacher calls out as I take my seat. My heart hammers with fright, as my gaze falls on the stack of corrected test sheets sitting on his desk. Did I fail the test we had last week? Up until a minute ago, I was so confident, now I'm starting to rethink everything.

"Y-yes Sir." I nod, gulping down the lump in my throat as I will myself to breathe.

My unsettled mind refuses to let me focus on the day's lesson. I see mouths moving, but hear no sound, that is until the ring of the bell pulls me from my stupor.

The students file out, grabbing their test papers as they exit and for a moment, my feet forget how to carry out its normal function. Mr. Michael's gaze falls on me and he beckons me to his table.

Hesitantly, I make my way to him, my heart pounding as little beads of sweat crown my brow. "Y-yes Sir... You want to see me."

He reaches for the only test paper now sitting on his desk and glaces down at it before lifting his gaze to me. "I'm impressed" he says with a smile, completely taking me off guard.

I exhale as relief washes over me and a smile lines my own lips.

"I didn't expect Alaric to do the impossible but he definitely worked a miracle." Mr. Michael chuckles to himself, handing me my results.

I pay little to no attention to his sly insulting remarks as my eyes fall on my results scribbled with red ink, sitting in the right hand corner of the paper.

55%.

Yeah, I know it's no 100 but considering my last score was 20%, I'm supper proud myself. My heart swells with gratitude for Adrian as I recount his exhaustive help leading up to the exam. Sure, Alaric was opening up to me, but I was already receiving excellent tutorship from Adrian, so I didn't bother to change things.

At lunch, I actively see out Adrian and soon I spot him walking down the corridor in my direction. Overjoyed by the good news of my passing- granted I passed by five marks but that's not the point- I hurry my steps until I halt in front of him, a huge grin on my face. "What do you think of going out with me this evening?"

"As in a date?" Adrian smiles, stepping closer to wrap his arm around my waist.

"Get a room you two." Someone mutters as they bypass us, but I'm too high on cloud nine to listen to the blabber of those around.

I shyly nod, staring into those ocean eyes that always stir my inner soul to life.

"Well then count me in." He leans in and kisses my forehead before taking my hand and leading us to the cafeteria.

"So, are you going to tell me what has you so excited, cupcake?" Adrian asks as we sit.

I rummage through my bag, excitedly pulling out my test paper placing it on the table before us. "looks like your tutoring is working."

He looks over at me as a broad smile breaks out on his face. "That's because I have a wonderful student." He drapes his arm over my shoulder pulling me closer. "I'm proud of you."

"Aww, look at the two love birds." Marcus sings, approaching us with Rick and Delton following.

I blush as they take their seat around us, listening to them tease Adrian, like usual.

Soon, we begin to eat, getting caught up in small talk when all of a sudden, I start to feel eyes on me; not the usual stares of students, it seems more like an intense stare. I glance up and almost instantly I lock eye with Alaric.

Unconsciously, a broad smile brands my face, only growing wider as we continue to stare at each other. He doesn't return the gesture, however, he's not wearing his usual scowl.

Suddenly, I feel a whispering brush against my ear. "I hope I'm the reason you're smiling so sweetly." I jump at the tingling sensation of Adrian's breath fanning my ears.

I turn, giving him my undivided attention as he drops his hand to the small of my back and his fingers begin to draw tiny spine shivering circle. My cheeks flush, and I feel my heartbeat increase as I attempt to hide the flustered expression on my face. It doesn't work.

A wicked grin spreads across his features as he leans closer to me. "So, am I the reason, Cupcake?"

I don't know what to say, which is nerve-wracking and worse yet is the teasing proximity of his lips from mine. I gulp, unsure of what to say or do. He chuckles at my nervousness, leaning in further to put me out of my misery, generating a warmth within me as he pressing his lips against mine.

"Alright, enough PDA for one day." Rick claps to get our attention. I sheepishly smile as we pull away, but there's an unmistakable hunger in Adrian's eyes as he looks at me. The atmosphere around us grows thick and heavy and I can't seem to look away.

Then, Adrian abruptly stands and leaves and somehow, without a word, I feel compelled to follow.

He enters an empty classroom and I'm not far behind, closing the door as I enter. He immediately turns around to face me, staring me deep in the eyes as he minimizes the space between us.

My breath hitches as I become trapped between the door and his towering frame. "I'm the jealous type." He mutters, brushing his lips against my ear. "And I'm selfish... I want you all for myself....ok?" He whispers, grabbing unto my waist as he pulls me into him.

I nod, feeling a rise of emotions coursing through my body as he nuzzles his nose into the crock of my neck. My knees weaken and instinctively, I grab unto his shoulders to steady myself. I'm feeling so giddy as an overwhelming earthy scent floods my soul.

I feel Stella shudder, desperately trying to rise to the surface, yet fighting the urge to do so.

Adrian slightly pulls back, one eye flickering purple and the other blue. I shiver at the intensity of the stare, yet there's an air of familiarity as I'm held captive by those eyes.

'Ma-mate?' Stella whispers and again she retreats to the back of my mind. Her behavior is confusing, but I have little time to think of it as Adrian crashes his lips against mine. His kiss screams hunger, possessiveness, dominance yet it's still gentle in its own right. His hands leave my waist and I whimper softly into his mouth as he takes his time exploring my body with soft feather light touches.

Then his hands slip underneath the hem of my shirt and slide up to my ribs, gently squeezing the skin as his lips continue their assault on mine, creating sparks that dance wildly inside of me.

I tug gently at his shirt as I feel his erection press against my stomach making my body throb uncontrollably. Soon, I begin to crave more and without needing to say anything, he eases off slightly, pulling his shirt over his head to give me full assess of his godlike body.

He wastes no time reconnecting our lips in an unapologetic manner; his tongue licks and sucks at my bottom lip repeatedly.

After a moment, he gently parts our lips, breathing heavily as he rests his forehead against mine, gazing deeply into my eyes. I'm lost in the pools of his violet colored eye which is searching mine as he takes another deep breath, looking even more ragged than before. "Oh god." He groans, dropping his head to my neck as he buries his face against it.

As my fingers trail his skin, I feel the x shaped scare again and pull back slightly to look at him. "I was meaning to ask.... how'd you get this scar?"

He stiffens slightly, but quickly recovers with a sigh. "My wolf was once stabbed in the chest...."

I gasp.

"But it was a long time ago, it doesn't hurt or anything."

I give him a weary smile as I lean in to plant a kiss over it. "Will it ever fade?"

He shakes his head. "It was a silver spare."

"And you survived?" I ask knowing the effect of silver on a wolf. The question is more out of shock and disbelief that to get an answer but he answers anyway with a nod, the spark in his eyes dimming slightly as if recalling the trauma. "It missed my heart my an inch." He whispers.

I peck it once more, before looking him in the eyes trying to pull him out of his bleak thoughts. "Well, it'll stay as a permanent reminder that you're a miracle.... My miracle." I smile, tiptoeing to kiss his lips.

Suddenly, the halting of footsteps outside the door alert up to someone's presence and we pull apart trying to contain our giggles as Adrian scrambles to put back on his shirt and I quickly fix myself.

"So I guess that covers page one and two of the project." Adrian nods as a teacher steps in glancing between us.

I play along, stifling my laughter as we make our exit.

We head back to meet with the others in the cafeteria and after lunch we part way.

The end of the day comes pretty quickly and I meet Adrian again on the field ready for my water girl duties. We have an upcoming match in a week's time, so now I am on round the clock training but surprisingly I feel excited, maybe because I get to see Adrian a lot more, or maybe because I get to sneakily take a peek at a sweaty, sometimes barebacked Alaric- my acquaintance now turned friend, who randomly decided to join the team last week.

I sit on the bench with the first poured cup of watch clutched in my hand as the whistle blows and the practice match begins.

It isn't long before first goal is scored.

Who knew Alaric was such a natural.
