Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl (Pearl and Richard)

Chapter 1292

Chapter 1292

In the evening, Pearl showed up alone at Lawson Enterprises as promised.

Since it was after work hours, hardly anyone was left in the building. As Pearl walked in, she encountered only the security guard at the entrance.

When the security guard saw her coming alone, he asked curiously, "Miss, it's after hours now, and there's no one inside. Who are you looking for?"

Pearl smiled at him and replied, "I'm here to meet someone."

Perplexed by her response, the guard scratched his head. "That's strange. Well, young lady, make sure to leave when you're done. It's not safe at night, especially for a young woman like you."

Pearl was confident in her ability to protect herself but appreciated the guard's concern. She just smiled at him and walked in.

Interestingly, Lorrie arranged to meet her not in the office but on the rooftop.

Once in the elevator, Pearl couldn't stop thinking about Lorrie's intentions in inviting her. As the elevator doors opened, the strong wind on the rooftop brought her to her senses. The place was decorated like a small villa, and Lorrie sat at a table with two glasses of wine.

Seeing Pearl approach, Lorrie greeted her warmly. "You're here early. How punctual."

Pearl sat across from her with a blank expression, skipping the wine. She went straight to the point, "So what's the purpose of inviting me here today?"

Seeing Pearl's refusal to drink, Lorrie took a sip herself. "I invited you over today for a reason, but don't worry, it's not about work. I just wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk." Pearl found this statement strangely ironic. "Quit beating around the bush. If you have something to say, just spit it out."

Lorrie, already drunk, looked flushed. "I told you I just wanted to have a drink and chat today. Why don't you trust me?"

"You must have spiked the wine, haven't you?"

Pearl's suspicion made Lorrie suddenly irritable. She grabbed the glass of wine before her and downed it in one gulp. "Why would I do that?"

After finishing the drink, Lorrie turned the glass upside down, ensuring nothing was left, then smashed it on the floor.

The shattering sound instantly put Pearl on alert. "Well, if you don't have anything important to talk about, I'm leaving." She had no interest in small talk at the moment.

But Lorrie persisted, "Why don't you want to talk to me? You promised, didn't you?"

Pearl turned to her and looked puzzled. "What did I promise you?"

"You promised to come and chat with me."

Pearl suspected Lorrie might be drunk, so she decided not to engage further. As she started to leave, Lorrie's voice sounded behind her.
