Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl (Pearl and Richard)

Chapter 1241

Chapter 1241

Richard grinned as he pulled Pearl into his arms. "Don't worry, I won't hold you back."

As promised, Pearl went with Richard to get tested for CoroX, and the result came back negative, which relieved them. At least they were safe for now.

Pearl set up a drug lab, aiming to recruit some accomplished individuals in the medical field for research. Making medicine was a tough task, but with other matters temporarily on hold, Pearl invested a lot of money into it

She even called Simon back from abroad. His face showed exhaustion when he entered the lab with bags in hand.

"I was having a great time abroad, playing chess with Joe, and then you urgently called me back here," he grumbled, dropping his luggage to the floor. "I'm not getting any younger, and you won't even let me enjoy my golden years. You're always keeping me busy."

Dressed in a lab coat with her hair tied back, Pearl handed him a set of lab gear. "Perfect timing. I've been struggling with one medication. Can you help me figure out how to administer it?'

Seeing his attempt at acting old and wise fail, Simon sighed and headed to the changing room to put on the clothes. When he came out, Pearl was staring at the test tubes in front of her, lost in thought.

"I've always wondered if this infection can be treated with herbs," she remarked.

Hearing her, Simon chuckled disdainfully. "Don't worry, even if the medicine can't cure it, we can work wonders. Have you forgotten what I've told you?"

Of course, Pearl hadn't forgotten that. Simon was eager to take her as his apprentice when he first met her. Unfortunately, Pearl had no interest in herbs, so she avoided him.

Until one day, she collapsed on the roadside due to a hereditary heart condition, and there was nothing the doctor could do. But Simon showed up out of nowhere and brought her back from unconsciousness.

When she opened her eyes, she saw him standing in front of her with a triumphant grin. "So, are you interested in learning about herbs from me now?"

For some reason, Pearl agreed. She would never forget what he said: 'Herbs are the real deal, the best there are. It's got all the answers.'

"But it's been three days, and I haven't gotten any ideas yet," Pearl said while shaking a test tube filled with herbs.

"Well, Rome wasn't built in a day. You gotta be patient." Simon clicked his tongue. "Besides, I've studied about this infection. It spreads through the air, goes straight to the lungs, and then the lungs start rotting. It can't be cured.'

Pearl looked troubled. 'Yeah, the doctors claimed they've developed vaccines, but those vaccines don't stop the infection. At best, they just boost your immune system."

Simon spat, "These vaccines are just a scam, not even fit for dogs."

"That's why I asked you to be here. I know you've always had your doubts about these medicines. I believe you have a better solution," Pearl said, smirking. "You can't just sit back and watch our people die from this infection, right, Mister Simon?"

Only then did Simon realize that he had been tricked. 'So, you're trying to light a fire under me, huh?"
