You, Me And Our Genus Twins

Chapter 538 United as One

"Leigh is right!" Madeline said, "Edmund, can you tell us the details of what happened back then? We need to find out the truth
and clear your name!"
Edmund looked somewhat dazed at her declaration. Find out the truth and clear my name? Easier said than done. Besides, I
don't think it would make much of a difference.
Sophie was an extremely self-centered person. Even if the truth was revealed and it proved his innocence, it wouldn't mean
much to her. At most, she would think that the misunderstanding was cleared and they could forget about everything that
happened in the past and start anew. She wouldn't feel any remorse toward him, and she might even set him free.
No matter what, in Sophie's mind, he would always be a part of the Foreman Family. Hence, he couldn't see the point in finding
out the truth and clearing his name.
"Forget it." Edmund shook his head. "It's been so long since the incident that it's difficult to start investigating now. Besides, even
if we find out the truth and prove my innocence, Sophie will still do as she pleases and nothing will change."
"It's all right. Let's just do our best," Madeline said. "Being wrongly accused of something definitely doesn't feel good. So, no
matter what Sophie thinks, you'll feel much better after proving your innocence, at the very least."
"Maddie is right!" Leigh chimed in. "We're doing this for ourselves. If we can't even prove the innocence of our own people, how
can others trust us?"
Martin nodded. "I agree with them."
The rest of the group agreed as well, expressing their determination to spare no effort in helping Edmund find out the truth.
As Edmund gazed at them, he felt a warm sensation in his heart, and his once cold limbs felt as if they were now filled with
warmth.
He was never fortunate—he had been framed and betrayed, his beloved foster parents passed away one after another, and
even his childhood sweetheart lost her trust in him and became his enemy.

And yet, at the same time, he was still lucky. When he was at his wit's end, he was saved by Jaxon and gained a group of loyal
friends and companions.
Seeing that everyone was determined to find out the truth, he didn't want their kindness to go to waste and nodded, saying,
"Alright, let's look into it."
"That's what I'm talking about!" Leigh said. "If we can't even prove the innocence of our own people, how can others trust us with
their tasks?"
Madison agreed, "Yes, you're right! If we can't prove the innocence of our own people, we shouldn't continue doing this job."
"It's not that serious," Edmund said quickly. "The main issue is that too much time has passed, making it difficult to investigate."
"Back then, why didn't you press charges, Edmund?" Rowan curiously asked.
"Back then..." Edmund explained softly, "I was locked up by Sophie and couldn't do anything..."
"What an idiot!" Leigh scornfully cursed. "She's obviously a person with a twisted mind. Edmund, you're really unlucky to
encounter someone with a brain as uneven as the surface of the moon!"
Edmund fell silent before he shook his head. "Forget it."
Although Sophie was indeed not a good person, she was still the only biological daughter of his foster parents. He couldn't let
Leigh insult her.
Leigh understood his meaning and shrugged. "Alright, let's not mention her."
"In that case, let's talk about Ashley." Madeline suggested, "Everyone is driven by their own interests, so there must be a reason
for Ashley to frame you. Edmund, can you tell us what her motives might be? Can we use her as a breakthrough?"
"Of course." Edmund nodded. "Ashley's father is the cousin of my foster father. In terms of blood relations, her family and my

foster family aren't close. However, because her father lost his parents at an early age and grew up in my foster parents' home,
they have a close relationship. My foster parents only had one biological daughter, Sophie, while Ashley's father, Elijah, has a
son and a daughter..."
He stared into the distance, his gaze deep. "You're right. Everyone in this world is driven by their own interests. After the incident,
I wondered why Ashley framed me as well. What benefits could she gain from it?"
Leigh asked, "What's your conclusion?"
"I'm not sure..." Edmund shook his head gently. "Even if I married Sophie, I would still be just a son-in-law. If Sophie didn't marry
me, she would marry someone else. Framing me wouldn't allow Elijah to gain control of the Foreman Family's power. So I think
that Ashley framing me doesn't make much sense..."
He sighed silently. "My foster parents probably thought the same way. That's why they believed Ashley's words, believed that I
betrayed Sophie, believed that I had an affair with Ashley..."
"Who says it doesn't make sense?" Leigh said. "Didn't your foster parents lose their lives because of this? Your foster parents
died, and since Sophie isn't in her right mind, as her cousin, wouldn't Elijah take advantage of the situation and gain more
power?"
"Not really..." Edmund shook his head. "Sophie is passionate and loves intensely. When she saw Ashley and me together, she
despised the two of us and even vented her anger on Elijah After the incident, she not only imprisoned me but also severely
tortured Ashley and drove Elijah's family out of the Foreman Family's company, cutting off all ties with them. In that incident, I
suffered the most harm, but Elijah's family also suffered heavy losses."
"Maybe they didn't expect this outcome?" Leigh speculated. "Edmund, you're so outstanding. If Elijah wanted to take advantage
of the Foreman Family, he would have to bring you down first. I think he must have thought of this method to bring you down, but
he didn't expect Sophie to turn against them as well!"
Madison chimed in, "I think Leigh's speculation makes sense. Many things can't be determined by human will. He can't
guarantee that the outcome he wants would happen. Perhaps it's really as Leigh said, they wanted to plot against you, but didn't
expect Sophie to turn against them as well."

Edmund fell into deep thought, remaining silent.
Seeing that Edmund's face had turned pale with exhaustion, Madeline clapped her hands and said, "Alright, let's stop here for
today. Edmund, since you're tired, you should rest for the night, and we'll talk again tomorrow."
The others agreed and left Edmund's room one after another.
At the door, Madison and Benedict stopped Madeline. "Boss."
Madeline stopped and turned to look at them.
The two walked up to her, and Benedict said, "Boss, we just discussed it with Benedict. We want to go to Yolas City."
"Yolas City?" Madeline was slightly surprised. "Edmund's hometown?"
"Yes," Janvier nodded. "Everything we discussed here is just speculation, so Benedict and I plan to personally go to Yolas City
and investigate the Foreman Family as well as Ashley."
"It's a good idea." Madeline frowned slightly. "I just don't know if Edmund would mind."
