You, Me And Our Genus Twins

Chapter 462

The thought rooted itself firmly in her mind, and it became her obsession. Not too long later, she put her plan into action, and it
worked. For five years, nobody suspected her. The longer it went, the safer she thought she was. Even if the cops were to
investigate, they would have no way to find any evidence.
She thought she was safe. She thought she had gotten what she wanted without paying any price, but fate had something
different in store for her. Her crime was not exposed by her family or the cops, but by the doctor who was supposed to treat
Harvey. She even said she could heal him.
Obesity caused by hormone pill overdose was irreversible, or so she thought. Even if she was unlucky enough to be found out,
the irreversibility of Harvey's condition meant her son would still be heir to the family. She still would have been successful in
getting what she wanted. Once he became heir, Clayton would have no choice but to keep her crimes a secret, and she would
be safe.
But fate played a trick on her. Not only was her crime discovered, but Harvey could also be cured. She paid the price only to get
nothing in the end. Regret filled her heart, but it was not because of her actions. It was because she shouldn't have married
Clayton.
The Bakers and Walker Family were friends. Not long after Harvey's mother died, the Bakers made a wrong decision and
bankrupted the family. The Walker Family could save them, but it would cost them a lot. They refused to do it, so the Baker
couple begged her to marry Clayton.
At that time, Clayton was already a father of one while she was single. She had never had a relationship before. Before her
family went broke, she thought she would marry a man from a similar economic and social background, but fate just loved to
prank her. Her family went bankrupt, and they moved from a villa to a rental. One moment, they were billionaires, but the next,
they were deep in debt.
A few months of being poor almost drove her mad. She agreed to her parents' plan, and with their help, she managed to sleep
with a drunk Clayton.
Her parents and Clayton's parents were great friends. Despite the fact the Bakers were broke, the Walker couple never looked
down on her. After they found out she slept with their son, they convinced Clayton to marry her.

Clayton came to see her. He said he could marry her, but only if she treated Harvey as her own and everything the Walker
Family had would belong to Harvey. Her children would not be allowed to work at the company, but he would give them money to
open up a business. What they did with their business was their affair. The Walker Family would not help them.
In other words, her children would have no right to inherit the Walker Family's wealth. Everything the Walker Family had
belonged to Harvey.
Twenty years had passed, but she still could remember the look on Clayton's face when he told her that. There had been no
room for negotiation. If she wished to marry him, then she must accept the terms, or he would never marry her.
At that time, life was a living hell for her. Poverty was hell for her. Her whole family was living in a dingy house that measured
about eleven hundred square feet. She had to work during the day and do all the chores at night. Yelena never did a day of
chores in her life before. Ever since her family went broke, she had to deal with office shenanigans, chores, and her parents'
outbursts.
She wanted to kill herself, so she agreed to the terms right away. The right to inherit was something she didn't consider back
then.
Even if her children had no right to inherit the family wealth, Clayton did promise to provide them with funds to build a business.
The little he could give her was already enough to make her life better. Most importantly, if she married him, she could ditch the
dingy house and move into a villa. She could go around in expensive cars and have servants tend to her needs. No longer did
she have to work or do any chores. Back then, marrying Clayton was redemption.
But as the days went by, she started thinking that she had an unfair deal. She thought she was the lady of the house. Everything
around the house was under her control. She felt she contributed more to the family than Harvey's mother ever could. So why
does Harvey get everything the family has, while my son only gets some seed funds?
Anger and avarice struck her heart, and she made a move on Harvey. If her crimes remained a secret, her son would
successfully take over the family, while she would stay the lady of the house for life. But alas, life didn't go as she wanted, and
she regretted that.

She shouldn't have married Clayton for his wealth. Yes, she did have everything—a big house, expensive cars, and servants
catering to her every demand after she married him, but she didn't have love. Clayton never loved her. The ones he loved were
Harvey and Harvey's late mother.
Yelena thought she should have married a man she loved. Life would have been a lot better then. She wouldn't have to get
jealous over a dead woman, but time could never be turned back. It was too late for regrets. She stared at Clayton with reddened
eyes as she roared her dissatisfaction at him.
But all she gained was a stink-eye from her husband.
Once she was done venting, Clayton said coldly, "You and your parents set me up. You made me sleep with you, then they held
me hostage because our families are longtime friends. They made me marry you. I looked into your background. You never
dated anyone or hooked up with any guy, so I was willing to do it, but I specifically said everything the family has belongs to
Harvey. I can raise your children, but they are not allowed to fight for the inheritance."
Clayton stared into Yelena's eyes. "You promised. I drafted an agreement for it, and you signed it and even stamped it. Nobody
forced you into this. If you didn't want the deal, then you could have said no to the marriage. Yelena, I did everything a husband
should. I never cheated on you, and yet you sabotaged my son." He whipped his phone out and called the cops.
Yelena's eyes went wide with shock. She pounced on him and snatched his phone away. "What are you doing? You promised
you wouldn't call the cops!"
