You, Me And Our Genus Twins

Chapter 457

"Of course." Lucas said, "Anthony, Kieran, and I are the best men." How can I not be the best man for my brother's wedding?
"Right." He suddenly remembered something and added, "My uncles are arriving tonight. Madeline will return to her mother's
house tomorrow, won't she? She can't meet Sebastian from tonight until the wedding day, so I think she will return to her home
for dinner and may not be able to keep Leah company."
It was a local custom in Dusktown that the groom-to-be and the bride-to-be could not see each other three days before the
wedding.
Today was the fourth day before the wedding, so after tonight, Sebastian and Madeline would not be able to see one another
before the wedding.
"That's nothing." Leigh shrugged and said indifferently, "When you get to know us better, you'll know that the employees in our
company are either oddballs or freaks. We all come and go like the wind and do not care about these trivial matters. So, this
doesn't really ping on our scanners."
Lucas looked at her curiously. He wanted to ask her which one she identified as, but his common sense told him he had better
keep his mouth shut.
He knew that he was physically stronger than her, but he was a gentleman and would never lay a hand against a woman. So, if
they fought, he would be easily defeated.
"Oh, before I forget." He recalled something else and inquired, "Didn't you say there was something you wanted me to help you
with? What is it?"
"Oh, it's about our company." Leigh explained, "We moved here quite a while now, but because we don't know many people
here, the company has not officially opened for business yet. So, if it's convenient for you, please advertise and promote our
company. Just promote it based on what I said to Austin. We'll accept any job as long as we're paid—no, we're operating our
business to serve the people. We will accept any kind of job as long as it is legal and ethical."
"Any kind of job?" He asked, "Even if they hire you to look for dogs or cats?"

"Yup!" She nodded affirmatively. "As long as they can afford to pay tens of thousands of dollars to look for their pets, we will take
the job."
He narrowed his eyes. Didn't she say that the company aimed to serve the people?
She had a slip of the tongue earlier—any job that could give them money. Was that the real aim of the company?
They aimed to earn money.
As long as the clients paid them generously, they would take the job.
"Does Madeline need money that badly?" Lucas couldn't help but probe for answers.
It was improbable. Madeline was the legitimate daughter of the Wendels. When her parents found her, they would do everything
for her. They even gave her a lot of properties and shops—estimated to be worth several hundred million.
Moreover, Sebastian would never be stingy with money when it came to her. On the contrary, he had always been generous, so
he would definitely shower her with money. So, she shouldn't be worrying about finances.
"She did, but she is rich now." Leigh said, "We love to make money. That has nothing to do with our financial status."
Suddenly, she brought up a different topic by prompting, "Do you know why our company is called Oasis Law Firm?"
"Yes, I've seen the advertisement for your company on the Internet," Lucas answered confidently. "It is called Oasis because you
see yourself as a paradise in the middle of a desperate desert to help human beings."
But it meant that they would serve the people, right? It didn't seem to match her purpose: rake in cash.
She explained the motto, "Maddie's master established this company because his son was missing, so he needed the money to
search for his son. After he received his payment—no matter how much he earned—he would donate half of his earnings to
charitable organizations to accumulate blessings. He prayed that he could find his son, or even if he couldn't find him, his son

would not suffer. So, her master handed over the company to Maddie before he died. She could manage the company as she
pleased, but she would donate half of her profit. This rule will not be changed as long as the company is in operation."
Leigh waved her hand as she regaled him with the tale. "So, you see, the employees of my company are good people! For every
penny we earn, we will donate half of it. Tell me, we're nice, aren't we?"
Lucas frowned. " Why did you give Sebastian 70% of the consultation fee the Walker Family paid you? Does your company not
have any say in this?"
"Oh, I'm an exception." She explained candidly, "If we do our assignments from the company, we will receive a salary and a
bonus at the end of the year, but if we take a personal assignment in private, we will divide the profit in half. Maddie will take her
half and donate half, while we will take another half. This assignment will not have anything to do with the company. I am the
only company member who didn't sign a long-term contract with Maddie. My master and Maddie's master were close friends,
and my master entrusted me to Maddie's master. So, nominally, I'm an employee of Oasis Law Office, and I can earn
commissions just like the other employees, but I didn't sign a contract with the company..."
She sighed. "But I can't escape from the couple's trick. I didn't sign a contract with Maddie, but I signed one with Sebastian. The
longest term of Oasis is only twenty years, but your brother has signed me up for life. He is the worst!"
"But Sebastian didn't force you to sign it. You gave your consent and knew the terms when you signed that agreement, okay?"
"Okay, alright!" Leigh huffed. "I'm just kidding. I'm not complaining. Sebastian avenged me, so I'm happy to work for him! Also, he
is not only the best support I will ever have but also Maddie's husband. So, what's there to be upset about?"
"But I think—" Before Lucas could finish, Leigh's phone rang, and he stopped mid-sentence.
Leigh glanced at her phone. It was an unknown number, so it should be from the Walker Family.
She answered the call and pressed the loudspeaker button. "Hello."
"Hello, Dr. Shefford. I'm Harvey's father, Clayton."

Clayton didn't regard himself as Leigh's uncle and didn't even dream of considering pulling the relative card here. After what
Penny had done, Leigh had all the reasons in the world to despise the Walker Family, and he was too ashamed to call himself
her uncle. Now, all he hoped for was for Leigh to help his son. As soon as she could cure Harvey, he would do anything she
asked him.
"Dr. Shefford, Austin told me about your request." Clayton quavered anxiously, "As long as you can save my son, I'll agree to any
conditions!"
"But I'm not sure I can cure him," Leigh said lightly.
Clayton quickly responded, "One million consultation fee! Even if you can't cure Harvey, I'll pay you one million."
