You Broke Me First Phoenix Mountain Series Book 3

Chapter 27

DARCY

“TO FINDING GOOD MATES!” Peter raises his bottle and the rest of us all do to.

“One more night Darc. Then you’re off the market.” Brody laughs and pushes me.

I rub my neck. “Yep. I’m hanging up my hunting license.” I chuckle.

Brody scoffs. “Hanging it up? You’re tearing it up, dude. No more hunting for you.”

Bear chuckles and shakes his head.

“Don’t laugh, buddy. Your times coming.” I say pointing my bottle at him.

He shakes his head again and crosses his arms. “Nope.”

Peter claps his shoulder. “I’m sure there’s a special woman out there that can tame the Bear.”

I point to them. “Hey! Maybe one of Titus' Amazon women. I’m telling you Bear. A guy like you, bet you could handle one of them.”

“Or she could break him and twist him up like a pretzel.” Brody grins.

The table chuckles.

“Don’t think so.” Bear says and tips his beer back.

“What about you, Pete? Feel good about this year?” I lean back in my chair and swig my beer.

Peter grins, picking at his bottle. “I don’t know. Maybe. Truthfully, I’m too busy with you idiots to think about Lunas.” He arches.

“Geez, old man. You know if you don’t use it’ll fall off right?” Brody smirks.

Peter smirks back and throws a piece of label at him. “I’m not old.”

He may not be old, but he’s 28. Way past the average age for fated. Most give up and choose a Luna by this point.

“You’re old, buddy. You should at least be dating.” I tick my head to him.

“I date. I just don’t flaunt like you deviants.” He grins.

Jake leans on the table. “When was your last date?”

I grin. “2018.” I chuckle before drinking my beer.

He shoves my arm. “Shut up. I date a lot. I just don’t screw a lot. There’s a difference.”

“Dinner with your sister isn’t a date, dude.” Brody laughs.

Peter scowls. “Leave my sister out of this. I will punch you.”

“Whoa, Pete. Calm down alright.” I hold my hand up to him. “Don’t need you busting a vein.” I laugh.

“Haha.” He growls and swigs his beer.

Zander tips his bottle. “Just pick someone.”

Peter leans back. “I don’t want to just pick someone. I can’t settle for that.” He shakes his head. “Nope. She’s gotta be special. Rock the waves, ya know. Spin me about. I won’t take anyone less.”

“Yep, you’ll be alone forever.” I smirk.

He gives me a snarky look just as Zane and Quinn come to the table with arms full of alcohol.

“This place is wicked!” Quinn yells. “I got 5 numbers just walking back here!”

“My man!” I offer my hand for a hand slap and Quinn slaps it.

Zander holds out his hand. “Gimme the numbers.”

“What? No dude, you already got a chick.” He scowls.

“You’re entirely too young to be dating.” Zander says being parental.

Quinn growls. “I’m 19!”

Zander narrows his eyes. “You’re 9!”

“I’m in a bar drinking. I’m 19.” He smirks lifting a bottle to his lips and swigging it back.

Zane chuckles. “Zan. Just leave him alone Ok. Look. He’s right. Technically, he’s 9, but Lycans mature faster than shifters. A pure Lycan is his age at 5 so cut the kid some slack.”

Zander scowls. “Fine. Just don’t leave with anyone.”

“Got it, big dude.” He claps Zanders shoulder and runs off to the dance floor.

“Is everything set for tomorrow?” I motion to Jake.

“Yeah. Are you ready?” He asks.

“I’m ready, I just hope she is. She hates surprises, but I can’t resist.” I smile.

“She got pretty mad at the last surprise you did.” Brody says. Reminding me of Sam’s locker room freak out the other day.

I shrug. “She got over it and when I place my mark on her sexy shoulder, she’ll get over this one too. Besides, she’ll be too busy with me getting all up on her to care.” I smile and tip my bottle back.

Some girls walk by and smile at us.

I slap Peter’s arm. “At least pick up something for the ball. There’s lots to choose from.”

“No, God. Why you guys want to set me up so bad?” Peter says.

Jake leans over. “Wait. Pete. You got something in your hair."

He reaches to Peter’s head and yanks.

“OW!” Peter scowls, rubbing his head.

Jake holds it up. “Yep. It’s grey.” He tosses the hair he pulled out on the floor.

Peter’s mouth goes small and he tilts his head back. He glares at Jake and his jaw ticks.

The table laughs. Peter gives him a shot in the arm. Jake flinches and laughs harder.

“Come on, Pete. There has to be something good here.” I turn to the dance floor.

The Dj started play ‘Jai Ho’ by Pussycat Dolls.

The crowd was bouncing it and swaying to the song.

I tip my beer back and look out to the floor.

I have to lower my bottle before I even take a sip because the most fucking gorgeous brunette is just shaking her absolutely amazing ass to the music with her friends.

My eyes widen as I drink some liquid courage.

Legs for days. Curves that make my mouth water. She’s wearing this tiny silver dress that I know will look so much better on the floor.

Her face is incredible. Luscious lips. Gorgeous big eyes.

My jeans twitch as I get up and go on my hunt. My wolf perks up too.

“Where you going?” Peter calls.

“I’ll be back.” I say to him.

I move through the crowd at a calm, steady pace. My eyes not leaving that Oh so lickable body.

I study my prey from head to toe. I feel my body start to sweat as my heart rate rises and the semi behind my zipper makes me have to adjust.

I zero in on the open back of her dress. It drops all the way to just above her panties. As she moves and her back muscles flex, I have to bite my knuckle.

“Goddamn.” I growl.

I slyly slide up, licking my lips as I prowl behind her.

Her friends all see me. I put my finger to my lips. They all smile.

I match her body movements to the music. Not touching her.

Then I slowly place a hand on her hip. She takes a small peek over her shoulder.

I move closer to her. Her ass is now swaying with my hips.

I wrap my arm around her waist and press my front to her back. I’m sure she felt my dick stirring because her ass pressed just a little harder in it. My heart is racing as the heat between us rises to dangerous levels.

My other hand reaches up and turns her chin to mine. I move in for a kiss. I consume her lips. They taste so fucking good. My heart practically busts out of my chest.

Her friends all holler out.

She reaches up and wraps her arm around my neck as I deepen the kiss. Our bodies still swaying to the song.

I break the kiss and trail my lips down her neck and back up to her ear. “Your place or mine, gorgeous.” I flash a charming smile.

Her eyes are all dreamy. “How about yours, Alpha?”

“I think I can accommodate that. What do you like for breakfast?” I ask in a sultry tone.

Her eyes travel up and down. “Rippling muscles.” She’s gives me a sexy smile.

“Mmm….I got lots of those.” I bite at her neck with a playful growl.

“Darcy stop!” She giggles.

I spin her around. “You look so fucking hot. I just had to have one last hunt before the big night.” I chuckle on Sam’s lips before kissing her.

“Seriously, I can not wait to place my mark on you.” I kiss her shoulder as we dance to the next song playing.

“I can’t wait either.” She smiles.

“Who knew. The two of us.” I hug her tight.

She chuckles. “I know a lot of girls from school who’d be so jealous right now.”

“Right.” I chuckle back.

She looks at me. “Cassidy.”

I throw my head back. “Oh God!” I drop my head shake it. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

She shrugs. “She was pretty and fun and popular.”

“She was also sleeping with like half the football team behind my back.” I smirk.

“You’re kidding.” Sam says as her eyes widen.

I shake my head. “Nope. She totally was having Darcy and a little quarterback on the side. I hated kicking his ass, but you really don’t want to piss off a rugby captain.”

She laughs. “I guess I can thank her. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

I lower my head. “Listen Sam. I never told you. I know I fed you some serious bullshit that night, but I was telling the truth about one thing.”

“What’s that?” She asks.

He leans his forehead on mine. “You were the best I ever had. I wasn’t lying then and I’m not lying now. I know I destroyed it, but I feel so fucking proud to be the lucky jackass to be your first. I carried that with me this whole time. I just lied to myself. Hid it down because it was easier than facing what I did to you.”

I kissed her nose. “Thank you, Sam. For the single most greatest experience in my life even though I turned it to shit.” I smile.

The corner of her mouth ticks up. “I guess I can thank you too. If it wasn’t for that bet, I wouldn’t be as tough as I am now. After that I decided to not be that wallflower girl anymore. To not allow myself to be taken advantage of. I probably wouldn’t have joined the circle if it wasn’t for you.”

I shake my head. “No. That was all you, kitten. You’re so smart and talented. A natural born protector. There’s no way I did anything.”

“You did something. All I know is, I’m so glad you did.” She grabs my cheeks and kisses me.

I pull away, sucking her bottom lip.

“Want to go back to my place?” I whisper to her.

“Yeah.” She nods.

I hold out my hand. “After you.”

Sam waves by to her friends. I wave too.

“Bye!” Trinity, Saysha and Taylor all say at the same time.
