Chapter 296
"Hurry up, or I'll come and take you away." Isaac's patience had entirely run out by now, and if she didn't come down any sooner, he might go up and bring her down himself.
Patricia stood up abruptly. "Don't. I'm on my way down now." After saying that, she hung up the phone, stuffed it into her pocket, opened the door cautiously, and peered outside to assess the situation.
She stayed on the second floor with her three children, while Josephine's room was on the third floor. Then, she looked down at her feet, took off her shoes, and held them in her hands as she walked silently through the house barefoot. She could walk around the house barefoot without her feet getting cold because the temperature inside the house was warm and had floor heating.
She walked out the door carefully and toward the stairs. At that moment, she had the same feeling as a thief, and all of these sneaky gestures caused her to become exhausted quickly. As she walked past the door that led to her two sons' bedroom, the door suddenly opened.
At the doorway, Patricia was startled to see Scott and Stella's bleary eyes as they stared at her. She could tell by the cups in the boys' hands that they were getting ready to head downstairs to get some water. Wasn't that too much of a coincidence?
She smiled awkwardly at her two sons. "Hey, boys. Are you guys thirsty? Would you like me to go get you some water?"
It's already past 11.00PM! Why aren't these two asleep yet? She bowed her head in disappointment.
Moreover, she feared that making an excuse for a night run wouldn't be enough.
"Mommy, are you going to work out?"
Stellan asked her cheerfully, looking her over from head to toe.
Patricia quickly slipped on her sports shoes and replied, "I'm quite full from dinner, so I'm going to the gym to exercise."
Scott stepped forward and gave a slight nod. "Great. Stellan and I aren't sleepy yet. Let us come with you."
She wanted to say "no" desperately, but she couldn't reject her children. Perhaps, these two were so smart that they already knew where she intended to go!
Poor Isaac. Let's just forget about it tonight. You should hurry home! She yelled in her heart. Nevertheless, she didn't even dare to send him a text message! She was completely subservient to her two sons, who were her adorable children! She had no other option but to cause Isaac a small amount of suffering.
After obtaining a glass of water for themselves, Scott and Stellan followed Patricia to the first-floor gym. The gymnasium had lots of mirrors and open floor space, suggesting that Sylvie could use it to practice her dance skills.
When the two boys put their cups together, she could feel the constant vibration from her bag, but she was too timid to answer it. She was hesitant to tell her two sons that Isaac was waiting for her. Scott and Stellan approached her as the two began to warm up their bodies.
"Mommy, run three laps first, then do one hundred sit-ups, one hundred push-ups, and two hundred squats."
As soon as Patricia heard that, her head went numb! She would most likely be so exhausted after doing everything that she would fall asleep! After completing these actions, it would be impossible for her to meet Isaac.
She took her coat off and ran in her tank top before tackling the following three challenges. It took her two hours to finish everything, and when she was done, she collapsed on the floor, drenched in sweat and exhausted.
Immediately after completing their respective workouts, Scott and Stellan engaged in a lengthy brawl with one another. When they saw their mother lying on the floor, they stopped their actions, exchanged glances, and started walking toward her. "Mommy, if you're up for it, you can join us in a bout of boxing or fencing."
When Patricia heard that, she waved her hands dismissively. "No. No thanks. I'm going back to sleep."
She finished off her floor routine with a final roll before standing up. Her legs were trembling, and she could feel her abdomen numbing.
Ah! She was exhausted. Back in those days, she was forced to learn Taekwondo, wake up at 6:00 AM every day, wrap a sandbag around herself, and run for three miles. Recalling those days, she realized it had been a while since she exercised. Soon the two boys would start pressuring Patricia to start working out again because they secretly hoped she would become a wrestling champion one day.
