Chapter 282
This was how things were like in high society—superficial.
With that, Kathy's gaze at Adeline changed instantly into one of gossip.
A few of my friends have been pretty close with Adeline lately. I bet things will get interesting if I tell them what happened here.
Most of them only gradually accepted her because they could get to Isaac and do business with him, and Adeline also promised to help them out. If they find out this woman is history, no doubt I'll get to watch the drama of the year.
"Nikola, we're going to head back out now. See you later!" said Kathy as she got up and went to Adeline's side. "Come on, Addy. Let's not be third wheels anymore. I've seen enough PDA for one night."
"We're heading back out, Isaac," said Adeline to Isaac as she got up before turning to Nikola. "Happy birthday, Mr. Ortega!"
Nikola, being the more amiable one, dipped his head in reply. "Have fun!"
Then, it wasn't until the pair left the lounge that the doctor turned to Isaac, quirking a brow while speaking, "Don't you think you're a little too heartless, bud?"
To that, Isaac shot him a dirty look. Dude, quit fanning the flames.
Nikola picked up the signal at once and raised his hands, indicating he'd stop. Sorry.
Meanwhile, Tori leaned in his arms, blinking her big, round eyes, which looked exceptionally alluring with makeup on.
"Are you trying to tell me you want me to kiss you in front of everybody, too?" asked Nikola as he leaned close to her, causing Tori to shy away at once. "Don't."
Patricia, on the other hand, pinched and twisted the back of Isaac's hand and reprimanded him in a whisper, "It breaks your heart to know that your ex-girlfriend's pissed off, doesn't it? You want to go and coax her, don't you?"
Isaac winced in pain. It was excruciating, but he sucked it up and let her bully him as she pleased until Patricia's heart ached for him. "What are you, an idiot?! Don't you know how to cry out in pain?!" she chided while giving his bruise a blow.
The man quirked his lips gladly in response. He knew it'd pain her. Alas, this girl's too soft-hearted. This is as mean as she'll get.
At that, he cooed plainly, "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy. Even if what you want is my life."
He meant it. He would give his life to her without a single hesitation if that was what she wanted.
Patricia beamed upon hearing his words—music to her ears. His sweet nothings were sweeter than honey.
That said, she wouldn't take his words literally. She doubted he would give up his life for her. After all, there was a reason they were called sweet nothings.
Just then, the Ortegas' butler came in. "Mr. Nikola, nearly all the guests have arrived, and everyone's waiting for you to blow the candle upstairs."
Nikola quirked a brow in response. "Sigh, time to entertain the elders upstairs now."
He genuinely thought something like blowing birthday candles was way too corny. However, his grandmother was still around, and it was precisely how she loved celebrating her grandchildren's birthdays. Thus, there was nothing he could do but entertain her.
At that, he kissed Tori on the cheek and asked, "I'm going to head upstairs, Baby. Do you want to come with me?"
"I wouldn't dare meet your family." Tori shook her head. "I'll go and have some fun."
With that, she put her mask on and stood up to follow Nikola out.
Before heading out, Nikola turned to Isaac. "Ise, it's a lot of fun out there. You should take Tricia out to play."
After the door closed, Isaac lowered his head and kissed Patricia on the lips. Patricia, on the other hand, widened her eyes in surprise, having caught a little off guard. However, she didn't push him away
but let him do as he pleased, as she loved the moment.
After sating his desire, Isaac finally let go of her only to find her teary-eyed, looking piteous.
At that, his gaze turned profound, for he discovered the young woman grew increasingly gorgeous the more he looked, making him even more obsessed with time.
