Chapter 30 : Liza and Steve (2)
Jonathan sighed for the fiftieth time in the day. Work was really stressing him out. He slipped on the coat before switching off the light and leaving the office. He shut the door behind him, as he looked at the empty office. It was late and almost everybody who had some social life had left the office. It wasn't that he was lacking friends but lately he hadn't been feeling like going out at all. His phone binged, it was text from his girlfriend Gina. After talking to Liza, he knew that she would never accept him. when Liza had started dating Steve, it had hurt like hell. Every fiber of his body told him to hit Steve for even looking at Liza, but that was just his primal part. He was no longer that immature man, he knew that his actions would have consequences and those consequences would hurt Liza. So he endured it every day, every moment. He kept his distance from Liza, avoided looking at her, talking to her even breathing in the same air as her. He hadn't given up, instead he had sobered up.
He had avoided Liza and every other person for about a year when Alice had finally gotten fed up and had started setting him up on dates with her friends. he had dated a girl before Gina but it had ended in a month. Nobody ever felt as right as Liza. he had been going out for Gina since four months and he was on the verge of pulling his hair out. He had already decided that he would break up with her, as soon as and as gently as possible.
He had began talking to Liza, it would have been awkward if they both worked at the same place and never talked. He had seen Liza grow brighter every day and in the past two years Liza had grown to resemble the Liza, he once knew. He could see that her wounds were healing and even though he hated that it was someone else, he was also grateful that there was someone who could heal her piece by piece, like he never could.
Jonathan drove o the coffee shop where he had promised to meet Gina. He parked his car and walked into the fancy shop with overpriced coffee and an extraordinarily bubbly waitresses. He Looked around, trying to find a familiar blond, when he finally spotted her. She was sitting wit a steaming cup of coffee in front of her, wearing a sleek black pant suit, glasses perched on her nose and her hair tied in a pony tail she looked like the top class executive that she was. He went over to the table and took a seat in front of her. Gina looked up from her tablet "Oh hey. You are here." she stated. "Um yeah. Listen Gina, I just wanted to tell you that it is not working out. I think we should stop seeing each other." Jonathan said. Gina looked up from her tablet with a frown upon her face, before saying "are you sure? I don't have time for hearing your apologies and how you didn't mean it later." Jonathan was startled, this was not the reaction he was expecting, though he was glad that she didn't react the way people usually do. "yeah, I am sure." he said."okay then see you again sometime." With this Gina picked up her brief case and left, with her high heels clacking on the wooden floor.
Gina had been he coldest girl he ever dated. He wondered if Alice was still punishing him by setting him up with girls like this. The waitress brought him coffee. As he drank his coffee and looked out of the window. he could see a guy slipping on a ring on the girls finger b the ice cream parlor. It was across the road. the girl was wearing a mauve dress, the guy was wearing a black coat and the gleaming lights were shining upon them. He couldn't see their faces, as he could only see their side profile, but whoever they, he imagined them to be happy and hoped that he would be happy too one day.000000000000
