Chapter Chpater 33
“There, all done.” the nurse said and patted my shoulder before she dressed all my other wounds and then left the room.
“See, now was it that bad?” Jace asked me, and I turned my head and glared at him for making me endure this torture.
“Didn't you say that you will protect me at all cost, and let no one harm me?” I asked him, and he shook his head.
“That was just a small needle, Iris. Moreover, you were given anesthesia, so I bet you might not have felt the pain at all.”
“Still, I don't like to get my skin stitched by a needle! Why couldn't you tell her to just paste it?”
“Because I think getting it stitched is a much better option than pasting it. Now, would you please calm down?” Jace said, and then he told me to stand up, and when I moved aside. He rearranged my pillows and straightened the sheets before he gestured for me to lay down again.
“Now, please get some rest. Because I bet that your head must be pounding now, after your screaming session.” Jace said and cringed when he remembered the memory, and I felt slightly bad for him since he has sensitive ears.
“Okay, but can I call Ada and let her know that I will not be coming home today?” I asked him while trying to get up from the bed again, but then he gently pushed me back again and took a seat on the chair that was placed at my bedside.
“I have already informed her. Now, why don't you close your eyes and rest,” he suggested, and I nodded my head, and when I was about to close my eyes, Walter strolled into the room.
“Hey Iris, how are you now?” He asked me, and I just nodded my head and gave him a reassuring smile.
“Well, that is good to hear. Anyway, did you hear a woman scream in pain?” Walter asked Jace, and my face turned as red as a tomato, and my cheeks started to burn, so I sunk in further and covered half of my face with the blanket.
“I think it must have been a woman in labor, but the thing is that no woman in our pack was this loud before,” Walter said, and he had this faraway look on his face. And Jace on the other hand, tried so hard to stifle the laughter, but in the end, he couldn't.
“Why are you laughing?” Walter inquired, and now I was beyond angry.
“The woman who was in labor was none other than our sweat Iris,” Jace said in between laughter, and Walter looked at me with wide eyes and his mouth open before he burst into laughter.
“Jace I think you should have a soundproof room built because if she just screamed like this for getting a few stitches, then imagine how much she will scream when she is really in labor. I don't think our sensitive ears can survive.” Walter said in between laughter, and I took a book that was on the table and aimed it at his head, but he ducked in the last minute, and the book hit the wall.
“Nice try, Iris,” Walter said, and I crossed my arms in front of me and pouted till he stopped laughing and came towards my bed and hugged me. “Oh, now don't you cry. I am sorry,” he said, and after that, we talked for some more time, and I laid down back on my bed, and my eyes started getting heavy, and before I knew it, I entered into a world of darkness.
I was running through a dark forest with only the moonlight to guide me, and I can hear the pounding of the paws on the forest floor, which made me run even more. There was nothing around me except for tall trees and dried leaves on the ground, and my feet started to ache, but I know that if I stop, they will catch me, so I ran till I found a large bush and I quickly ducked behind it and watched my surroundings.
A few minutes later, five large wolves came to a stop right in front of the bush that I was hiding in, and when I saw them, my heart started to pound in my ribcage, and I can feel my body burning in fear. A black wolf that was among the group stepped forward, and I felt like it was able to look right through the bush.
It let out a ferocious growl and immediately transformed into a Very naked man, that will haunt me for the rest of my life. And quickly, another wolf from the back, transformed also and quickly handed a pair of boxers to Alan. “Iris, I know you are in there, come outside right now before I drag you out myself.” my entire body started to shake, but I stayed where I was with a sliver of hope that Alan will not find me. But I guess my luck ran out because a few seconds later, he put his hand through the thorn bush and got a grip of my hair, and dragged me out through the bush, causing a lot of thrones to cut my skin.
“Al...Alan please, let me go.” I begged him, but he had this sinister smile on his face before he dragged me further and banged my head on a nearby tree, I let out a blood-curdling cry, and I started to trash and claw at him, but nothing worked. But then I heard someone yelling my name, telling me to wake up.
And I jolted up from the bed, and I was immediately engulfed in a warm yet familiar hug. “You are safe, Iris.” Jace kept repeating comforting words in my ears, and I quickly hugged him back, I can taste the salty tears running down my cheeks.
“I don't want to stay here, Jace,” I murmured, and a few hiccups left my mouth, and he kept shushing me and running his hand down my back.
“Let's go somewhere else,” he said and gently picked me up bridal style and left the emergency room. And before we left, I saw someone standing outside on the forest edge again, and he gave me that same sinister smile that I saw in my dream.
