Wolf under an oak tree.

Chapter 63

Iris Hendrix

I was in a way happy that Jace is going to help me, and I am not going to walk into this blindfolded, if something goes wrong, I know that I will have a backup. So after that talk, I went to my room and took a long and relaxing shower, before I changed into my pajamas and laid down on my bed and closed my eyes.

Beep, beep, beep.

I groaned before turning around and trying to sleep again, but this noise just wouldn't let me go back to sleep. So I opened my eyes and saw that my phone was ringing, and surprisingly it was from an unknown caller.

Wow! The joy of being Iris Hendrix is that I get the most number of calls from unknown numbers.

I leaned over and switched on the night lamp before answering the call.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Luna Iris?” well that word woke me up, and I sat upright, and I searched my memory lane to find to whom this voice belongs.

“Um, I am sorry, but I don't think I recognize you.”

“I am Zander,” he said.

“Oh, Zander, I am sorry. I couldn't recognize your voice.” I apologized.

“That is alright, Luna Iris. Anyway, I called you to tell you something very important that I found regarding Luna Rachel.”

“Luna Rachel? Jace’s grandma?”

“Yes, I think you must have known that she died while protecting a valuable gemstone. I think I have found something else apart from that gemstone. It is a diary, and she has written something about the future luna and the danger that will follow with the power she will have.”

“Wait! Do you have the diary with you right now? Where are you?” I asked him while getting up from my bed, and I ran into my closet to find an outfit to wear.

I am outside your house, Luna. And I do have it right now, I found it buried in the forest, and the alpha asked me to get you to the pack as soon as possible.” his voice sounded urgent.

“I will be downstairs in five minutes,” I said, and then I disconnected the call before I pulled out a pair of high-waisted jeans and a purple top, after quickly changing my clothes, I wore my running shoes and took my phone, and before I left the from my room I stuffed the dagger that Camila gave me inside my bra, and slowly made my way downstairs since it was two am in the morning everyone was still sleeping, and I didn't want to wake them up.

After slowly closing and locking the front door behind me, I walked towards the Ashton Martin that was parked a few meters away from my house. “Hello.” I greeted Zander once I got into the passenger seat, and he nodded his head.

“I am sorry if I disturbed you at this time,” he said, but I shook my head.

“So, as an apology gift, I bought you some hash browns,” Zander said and passed me a brown paper bag, and I gladly took it from him since I didn't have dinner last night and I started eating. Once I was done, I crushed the paper bag and kept it next to my feet and took the bottle of water that was kept on the bottle holder and took a sip from it.

As soon as I kept the bottle back, I looked ahead to see that we have passed the lane to turn to the pack house, and we were heading towards the highway. “Zander, I think we missed a turn,” I said, but then my vision was getting blurry, and my eyes were heavy.

“We are not going to the pack house, darling. We are going to meet Midnight.” that made my heart beat quicker, and I fought against the dizzy spell that was slowly consuming me. My head started to spin.

“Stop the car right this instant! You betrayed the pack and...” I couldn't finish my sentence, I was slipping in and out of consciousness. And with the last ounce of my strength, I tried to pull the hand brake, but then the dizziness caught up with me, and my eyelids were too heavy to be kept open anymore.

“You will just love to meet him again.” was the last thing I heard before I fell unconscious.

I am screwed!

Jace Emerson

I had a lot of pack meetings that extended past midnight, and by the time I went to my room to sleep, I was beyond exhausted, so after a taking a shower, I wore a pair of boxers and jumped into bed, and took my phone to see that it was three am in the morning, and I will only be able to catch four hours of sleep.

“You should have let Walter finish those papers works,” Sean said and I shook my head.

“You know I have already overworked him, and he still has to go after Iris tomorrow,” I said, and my wolf shook his head at me before retreating to the back of my mind again. And after turning off the bedside lamp, I closed my eyes and soon slipped into a dreamless sleep.

Beep, beep beep

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock, and I quickly turned that off and went to take a shower I wore a black t-shirt and denim before leaving my house towards the pack house. I started walking towards the pack house since it was only a fifteen minutes walk from my place, and while walking, I texted Iris, asking her about the time. Since it was still early in the morning, I didn’t want to call her.

Once I reached the pack house, I went straight to my office and ordered my breakfast there. While looking through a stack of my paperwork, I heard someone knock on my door. “Come in.” And a few seconds later, the door opens to reveal my dad and mom. And mom had my plate of breakfast and my black coffee.

“Good morning, Jace.” Mom greeted me, and she placed my breakfast on the table before taking a seat on the chair, dad did the same, while he gave me a curt nod, and I returned it.

“Jace, if you have some time, we would like to talk to you about something.” Dad began, which piqued my interest. Dad would never have a serious tone if it was business-related, and if mom was here with him, then the issue must be serious.

“What is it, dad?”

“You know that the stone that grandma has hidden. I think I have found it.”
