Wolf under an oak tree.

Chapter 58

Iris Hendrix

I stayed outside, not sure if I am supposed to go in or not, but then Mike came and stood behind me and he gently pushed me inside, and I slowly made my way into the bedroom. Surprisingly, for a newly mated couple, I was thinking the bed to be messy, and the room to have odd objects on the floor, but what I found was completely the opposite.

“Elana is kind of a neat freak so I cleaned the entire room before I came downstairs,” Mike whispered in my ear and I nodded before I went over and took a seat on the couch that was placed facing the huge television.

“Ah-huh! I found it.” Elena yelled from inside the closet, and she came out with a brown cardboard box in her hand and placed it on the coffee table in front of me, and took a seat on the floor while I stared at the box in curiosity.

“I think, I know the woman that you are talking about,” she said before she opened the lid of the box to reveal a collection of old magazines, papers, photos, and greeting cards.

“Is this your box?” I asked her while she was busy digging inside, and she absent-mindedly nodded her head.

Wait! so if she was a rogue for nearly three years, then how was she able to carry this box with her everywhere she went? And I don't remember her bringing a box with her the first time I brought her back to the pack.

“I had a hobby of collecting photographs, magazines, and birthday cards that I got, but when I was turned into a rogue, I left them all here since I won't be able to take them with me,” Elana replied and looked at Mike and gave him a sweet smile.

“But Mike made sure to keep my box safe for me.” I can hear the love clearly in her voice, and my eyes watered again, but I held back my tears since I didn't want to cry again.

“There, I found it!” Elana yelled after a few minutes and pulled out a school yearbook, and brought it close to me, and she started to turn pages searching for a particular picture. Until she found it, and to my surprise, that was the same woman that told me to stay away from Jace too.

“This is the same woman who threatened me.” I pointed at her, and Mike leaned over Elana’s shoulder to take a better look, at the woman, and a growl was heard soon after.

“I should have known that this bitch was behind all this blunder,” Mike mumbled, and when I saw Elana. The smile on her face was now gone and in its place was a frown.

“Well, who is she?” I asked both of them since they didn't give me an answer for quite some time, and I was getting worried.

“She is the person who framed me for grandma’s murder, and she is also a power-hungry bitch who has been eyeing to be luna for a very long time,” Elana said, and I looked at the picture again. Anyone can get easily fooled by her, the sweet smile on her face, and the innocent look in her eyes.

“But, how did she get the mate mark. And Jace’s initials were also there.” I pointed out what Elana and Mike were thinking before Mike went over to his bedside table and took a paper and pencil, and brought it to me.

“Could you draw the symbol that you saw?” he asked me, and I nodded my head and took the paper and pencil from him, and quickly started drawing what I saw. It wasn't the best drawing, but I think I was able to draw the important aspects.

“This is how it looked.” I showed them, and both of them were inspecting it from every angle.

“This is not the mate bond you will get if you are mated to someone in the blue blood pack. But surprisingly, I feel like I have seen this kind of a symbol somewhere.” Mike said, and right then, someone's phone started ringing.

“Is that yours?” Elana asked Mike, and he nodded his head before he looked around the room to find it, once he did, his face turned gloomy.

“What the hell does he want now?” Mike mumbled before he answered the phone. I don't know what the person on the other end told him, but Mike’s anger started to rise every minute. Once he ended the call, he threw his phone on the bed and sat there.

“What happened, Mike?” Elana cautiously approached him and placed a hand on his tensed shoulder. “Who was on the phone?”

“It was Walter, and now we know why they didn't invite Iris for breakfast.” this pricked my interest, and I moved towards him too. “Someone is playing a sick joke on all of us, and I just need to find out who the culprit is.”

“Mike, stop talking in riddles and tell us what is going on,” Elana asked him in a stern voice and he sighed before looking at me with pity in his eyes.

“Iris, I think someone must have hacked your phone because apparently when Jace called you yesterday, and even today, you told him that you would not be able to make it and that you are leaving the country since you have an emergency.”

What! What is happening here?

“I have a strong feeling that Jenifer is behind all this.” Elana snarled, and I looked at her in confusion.

Who the hell is this Jenifer now?

“That is the woman who was threatening you to stay away from Jace.”

“I think there is something more to this, Ana. Jenifer is cunning, but she is not great at formulating plans. Before we take any drastic measures, we should first find out who that mate that Jenifer is hiding.” Mike suggested, and right then, my phone chimed, and there was a message from the same unknown number.
