Wolf under an oak tree.

Chapter 51

Iris Hendrix

“I M...Mike Wyatt o...of the Bl...blue blood pack re...”

“Stop it, Mike.” everyone turned around to see Luna Laura standing there with Mrs. Quinn right behind her.

“Laura! Don't interfere with this matter. Let me deal with this.” Mr. Emerson said in irritation, but Laura didn't even glance his way, her entire attention was on the two couples who were in an embrace now with happy tears flowing down their cheeks.

“That is not the way to solve a problem, Richard. If I was late for even a minute, I don't even want to imagine what would have happened to these two kids.” Laura said, and she walked toward Elana and pulled her up from the floor.

“I won't do the same mistake again, Elana,” she said before she turned around and faced her mate, her husband.

“The very reason I send Elana away a few years back was so that she will find her mate in some other pack and at least have a happy life, but now I am not going to let her go from this pack. Because this is her pack, her mate, and she has the right to stay here.” Laura’s speech was fantastic, and everyone in the room was slightly nodding their heads, too. Mr.Emerson stared at his wife with a fiery that I have never seen on anyone before, and then he turned around and marched out of the house, leaving everyone in the room gaping at his departure.

“I will go and talk to him later. Now, darling, why don't you go to your room with Mike. I bet you must be tired after all this ordeal.” Laura said and gently pushed Elana towards the Elevator, and Mike followed behind her. Once they left, she turned around to face the rest of us.

“Jace, even if you are an Alpha, I don't want you to go around accusing people without any evidence, did you understand?”

“Mom, but she is the only one who c...” she raised her hand, which shut Jace’s mouth.

“I am still the Luna. And as a Luna, I can see if someone has a good intention or a bad one right from their eyes, and Elana has the purest of hearts. Remember something, Jace, the person who you think is innocent and not capable of doing something like this, is the culprit.” Laura said in a stern voice before she left the pack house with Mrs.Quinn.

“I still have to do a lot of damage control. I will catch up with you guys later.” Walter said, and before I could tell him to stay with us, he left us alone and ran outside. And now it was only the two of us alone, and I know that if this was in some other circumstance, I would have been delighted, but after seeing the pictures of him and his supposed girlfriend together, I don't even want to stand in the same room as him for even ten seconds.

“Where were you, Iris? I thought the rogues took you.” Jace broke the awkward silence between us, and I cleared my throat a few times before replying.

“Elana took me to a secret tunnel that leads to a safe house, but apparently, we took the wrong turn and got stuck in there, and it took us nearly three hours to find our way back,” I told him in a monotonous tone.

“Please, inform me about your whereabouts next time you go somewhere like this, Iris. My wolf and I were worried sick about you.” Jace said, and he came over and hugged me, igniting all the sparks that made it even harder for me to stay mad at him. But with all my ounce of strength and energy, I pushed him away from me, which caused him to frown and he looked hurt.

“I have got to head back home since I promised mom I will be back for lunch.” I lied and tried to walk past him, but he quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me flush against his chest, I struggled to get out of his embrace, but my attempts were futile since he was stronger than me.

“What happened to you, Iris? You are behaving a bit strange today.”

“I am fine, Jace. Just let me go. I will call you later.” I said, and I broke away from his embrace and marched out of the house. When I reached my car, I noticed that the woman I saw yesterday was leaning against my car, checking her nails, and when she smelt my scent, she looked up and gave me a sweet smile.

“Hey, you are the human that knows about werewolves, isn't it?” she asked me in a sickly sweet voice, which made me feel nauseated.

“What do you want?”

“I just came to let you know that a human-like you can never be a Luna to an entire pack,” she said, which made my heart beat faster.

“How do you know about that?”

“I overheard your conversation with that rogue. But let me tell you one thing. Jace was just playing around with you. You are not his real mate. I am.” this made the anger bubble with me.

“Do you expect me to believe this nonsense? I mean, if you tell me that you and Jace are in a relationship, then I would believe that, but I would never believe this cramp that you are throwing at me. Because if I am not his mate, then how was I able to feel the sparks whenever we touched?” I see he's, and this caused her to laugh, and I looked at her confused.

“Oh my God! How naive can you get, Iris? I heard that you are a freak too. You get this weird spark whenever you touch someone.” that woman just called me a freak, and I couldn't take it anymore, even though I still have a problem with Jace, I know from the bottom of my heart that Jace is my mate.

“I don't believe you.” I asserted confidently.

“I know you would tell something like this. That is the reason I am going to show you something.” the woman said, and she started to unbutton her blouse.
