Wolf under an oak tree.

Chapter 10

Iris Hendrix

Well, I didn't expect that question to come my way.

“Uh, Mrs.Quinn, I think you are mistaken. Walter and I are just friends, we are not dating.” I said, and her face morphed into confusion.

“Yes mom, we are just friends, nothing more,” Walter explained, and I noticed that they didn't talk for a few minutes, both son and mother were staring intently at each other as if they are communicating through telepathy or something.

“So, where does your husband work?” Jace asked or it was more like a growl, but I know I must have imagined that, or maybe Jace must be having a throat infection.

“I am sorry, but I am not married yet.” the moment Jace heard those words, he was like a child on Christmas eve.

Is this guy bipolar? I mean, just a few minutes back, he was scowling at everything that we said, and now he has this big guffy smile on his face.

“Yes, Iris isn't married, and I am trying to get her to go on a date with me, but she wouldn't go,” Walter said with a cute pout on his face, which made me laugh, and I swatted his arm and that is when I heard the growl again for the second time, and this time it was much louder.

Jace Emerson.

I do love Mrs.Quinn, she is like a second mother to me, but when she indirectly asked if Walter and Iris are mates, I almost lost it, and I felt my wolf pacing around in my head in anger. But I was thankful that Walter interjected and told his mother that they are not mates.

But I still had this bugging feeling in the back of my mind that Iris is already married and that she belongs to someone else, and before I could stop my mouth, I asked her the question that was bugging me for the past two weeks.

But the moment I heard that Iris isn't married, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder, and my body was tingling with happiness.

“Mate is ours!” Sean said

I heard my wolf howl in joy. This is the first time in almost two weeks, that he spoke to me because after seeing that ring on our mate’s finger, it not only broke my heart but my wolf’s too.

Yes, mate is ours, and now we can get her to like us.

But I think Walter doesn't want to have a long life because the next words that came out of that asshole’s mouth, nearly made me shift right in the kitchen. This guy seriously has a death wish if he thinks that I am going to let him play with Iris’s heart just like that. She is mine, and I don't share.

“Walter, I think your training session will be starting in a few minutes,” I growled, and he casually looked at his watch before looking at me and shaking his head.

“I have another one hour till that session begins.”

Wow, smartass, now you are as good as dead.

And before he could object further, I opened our mind link and practically yelled at him to leave the house, before I throw him out the window. And knowing the foul temper that I had for the past two weeks, he abruptly got up from his place.

“Uh, Iris, I am so sorry, but I just remembered that I have an important meeting starting in a few,” Walter said, and I noticed the confusion on Iris’s face, but she quickly replaced it with a smile on her face.

“Oh, that's alright, Walter. But I hope that you can drop me home, and I guess we can meet up some other time?” she asked him in a voice so sweet as honey, that I almost got up from my seat to run towards her.

“Of course, now come on,” Walter said, and he dragged Iris out from the kitchen, yelling a goodbye on his way out. It took a lot of self-control from my side to not chase after them, and I know, that I can't be that stupid because I want Iris to like me, not run away from me, so I begrudgingly sat on my seat, trying to inhale her lingering scent as much as I can.

After Iris and Walter left, I excused myself and made my way outside to the training grounds, where I saw Mike flirting with the slut, Jennifer.

This guy will never realize that Jennifer is a walking bottle of poison until it's too late.

“Yeah right, says the person who had multiple one-night stands with that bitch.” Sean said in an ironic tone, and I mentally scoffed at him.

That is in the past now, Sean. So would you stop reminding me about all the mistakes that I committed?

“Oh sure, human. But you should have always listened to my advice because I don't like the way that bitch is staring at us right now!” Sean growled in my head, and I can feel him push my barrier to take control.

“Hello, Jace! I didn't see you for the past few weeks.” Jennifer’s nasal voice brought me back from the mental battle that I was having with my wolf.

“I was busy, and Jennifer, I suggest that you call me by my title and not my name because next time, I will not be as calm as I am right now.” my voice came out cold, and Jennifer took a slight step back, afraid that I might shift, but that cocky smirk was still plastered on her face, which made my wolf and I agitated.

“Alright, Alpha!” she dragged the word ‘alpha’ with a seductive smile on her face.

“But, I hope to see you in bed soon,” she said, and before I could open my mouth to speak, she bowed her head and left the place.

“That bitch has riled me up! I want to go for a run.” my wolf whined, and I obliged him, knowing that if I don't let him out now, I might end up killing someone later.
