Chapter 99
Donovon's POV
It is taking everything in me not to collapse on the floor, as it will only increase Ivory's concern as it seems like she can already sense that something is not right. Pushing past the spell, nearly drained all the energy from me and now I am feelig like somebody is slowly sucking the life out of me.
This has even weakened Storm, but the happiness which we are feeling being able to fight against the spell, even if it's just for once, and meeting Ivory is something which is not making us regret anything.
The immense power which I felt inside me the moment I shifted into my wolf, is something which I have never felt before. But the moment when I had to forcefully shift back, all that power left my body, leaving me to question myself that whether what I felt was just something which my mind came up with or was I actually that strong.
However, at this moment my concern for Ivory is making me ignore everything else.
"Ivory." I hold her face as her eyes seems unfocused like she is talking with her wolf, but the troubled expression on her face is making me anxious.
My heart drops in my stomach when abruptly her eyes rolls back into her head as her body slumps against me. If I was not holding her then she would have fallen on the floor.
A second later growl passes through her lips, making me lean back and look at her face.
My eyes widen for a fraction of second when my gaze lands on her face. Her eyes have turned pitch black and there are fleck of golds inside her pupil.
It doesn't take me long to figure that her wolf has come forward and for the first time she has taken her over her human form.
Tilting her head, she looks into my eyes as if she is searching something. Silently, I watch her trying to figure what caused her to take over abruptly.
"Mate." She breaths while holding my gaze, although she sounds exactly like Ivory, but there is something different in voice which makes it easy for me to differentiate between her and Ivory.
"Fire." I slightly smile and acknowledge her presence.
Hearing this a smile forms on her lips while adoring look appears on her face. However, soon her smile die down as a threatening growl ripples from her mouth, at the same time I sense my wolf getting furious.
"Mate..." she growls as her eyes start to glow. "No one can take mate away from us."
Gradually, I am feeling more weakened than before even my connection with my wolf is dying.
Maybe I am not that powerful at all...
"Mate, let us help you." Fire glances into my eyes with a pleading look, as she has figured I have blocked her out because I don't want her to feel the agonizing pain which is encasing my being.
Using her powers mean giving away a small part of herself and I can't let her do that. It is like practically walking towards death.
"No, I can't let you give away your life, Fire." I shake my head and can't help but a groan in agony as I feel my wolf ripping out of me, "I can't let you die." I manage to say through clenched teeth while Storm lets out a painful howl inside my mind. My knees give out forcing me to fall on the floor while clutching my chest with my hands, as my lungs burns with the lack of air.
"Without mate, we will die." Tears swim in her eyes while a painful whimper leaves her lips, "We can die for mate, but can't live without mate."
Stupid mate of mine thinks I will allow myself to be the reason of her death. If there is someone who will live, it is going to be her.
"Let us help you." She nearly growls in pain making me realize no matter how much I block her out but she is able to sense my pain. She sits beside me and cradles my head against her chest, letting me hear her comforting heartbeat which provides me some relief from my pain.
"We are stronger together." Her eyes blazes as they start glowing brighter, encasing me in warmth, as she holds my face in her hands, "Together we can defeat everything." At this moment, I can sense her tapping into her power.
"No one can separate mate from us." A ferocious growl resonates through her which inreturn makes Storm growl as that same strange power starts to build inside me, but at the same time I can feel my life draining out of me.
The glow from her eyes slowly start to spread throughout her body and soon her whole frame is surrounded by a soft radiance making her look so surreal yet dangerous. As light is not the only thing which is emitting from her, a hint of something dark also lingers around her.
She looks like an angel, but the darkness swirling inside her eyes makes her look deadly.
It takes me a moment to realize not only her but a sheen of light is radiating off from me as well, blanketing both of us in a warm engergy.
"Let me mark you, Mate." She requests softly, but the fiercessness of her eyes don't soften a bit, if anything it has increased even more, "They will never be able to reach you again."
Leaning forward she nuzzles my neck, while earning a possessive growl from me as I pull her closer to me. I am hers to mark, but I my heart swells with love when she has asked for my permission to mark me.
And there is no way I deny her, if she wants to mark me I will let her mark me. Even if this is the last thing I do before I die.
