Wolf Bond

Chapter 91

“Aren’t you adorable?” I smile running my fingers through the soft chocolate brown fur of the hyperactive pup who has just slumped beside me as he places his head on my legs.

He instantly raises his head and growls while puffing his chest out attempting to look intimidating.

I guess, he doesn’t like being called adorable.

“Woah, you are so scary, I am sorry I called you adorable.” I pretend to look scared although internally I am laughing at his cuteness and when my eyes catch Donovon’s gaze I find mirth in them.

Oliver again jumps off the bed as he runs towards the window and starts playing with the curtain.

Glancing down at Ella, I smile as she continues to coos in my arms while clutching the front of my shirt. She seems to look fascinated by the butterfly design on my shirt.

I slightly frown when my eyes travel to Oliver as my eyes notice something which I may have overlooked in the excitement to meet his wolf.

“Donovon, I haven't seen any wolf pup other my Ella’s, even then I do feel Oliver’s wolf is bigger than it should be?” I look at Donovon as he stares at Oliver seeming to notice the same thing which I have observed, “He seems big for his age, right?”

I have a hunch but before I can share my thought with Donovon, abruptly, Oliver starts growling... not like playful growling but the aggressive growling, showing his displeasure while glancing at something near the unfolded laundry. For some reason, it alerts us.

Donovon and I share a look then we glance back at Oliver as he continues to growl while bearing his canines.

“Oliver, what’s wrong?” Donovon walks to Oliver, “Why are you growling?”

Instead of responding to him, Oliver jumps at the laundry and starts shredding the shirts aggressively.

“Stop!” Donovon says sternly, using his Alpha tone.

My eyes widen for a fraction confirming my suspicion when Oliver tries to fight off the authority as he continues to tear the shirts.

“Oliver, stop!” Donovon growls as his eyes flashes indicating Wolfie’s presence.

This time Oliver places his head on the floor showing his submission and whines lowly.

“Come here,” Donovon orders him.

“What’s wrong? Why are you behaving like this?” Donovon pets his head when he nears him.

“Maybe he found something in the clothes which triggered him,” I suggest while glancing at Oliver.

He turns his head to me as if he is saying that I am right.

“You found something in it?” Donovon points at the clothes, and Oliver nods his head then he runs and picks up a piece of cloth.

“Oliver, shift back and tell us everything,” I tell Oliver but shaking his head, he whines.

“Please, Oliver, we can’t understand what are you trying to tell us in your wolf form.” I request him, “You are not officially part of the pack so you can’t talk to us through mindlink and we need you to tell us what you know.”

It takes some convincing from me and Donovon to make Oliver shift back. Donovon would have forcefully made him shift back, but this might have scared Oliver which we didn’t want as he is just a pup who has discovered his wolf and wants to be in his wolf form.

Donovon helps him to shift back as he has forgotten how to shift, then Donovon calls someone to bring his clothes. After Oliver is dressed, he walks out of the closet as he had refused to shift back in front of me.

“Ollie, will you tell us why did you earlier get angry?” I smile at him, encouraging him to talk, as he sits beside me while his eyes are fixed at Ella with a small frown.

“I smelled the scent of one of the bad guys who had come to take little Ella.” He softly speaks but a hint of anger is clear in his voice.

“Are you sure? Because these are all our clothes. Mine and Donovon’s.” I look at the pile of clothes then back at him.

“I clearly remember their scents, the other one smelled like poop.” He makes a face. “I called everyone but no one heard my voice.” He glances at me with a confused gaze.

"But then they suddenly disappeared when you came there." Suddenly a smile appears on his face as he looks at me, "They got scared of you."

“Do you remember their faces?” Donovon asks.

“No, their faces were blur.” He shakes his head and plays with Ella’s foot as she kicks him. “All I remember is them beating me when I tried to stop them from getting near the packhouse while I was shouting for help. I saw them walking towards the packhouse when I was returning from the lake, they didn't look nice to me but when I heard them saying they had to take little Ella outside the border before anyone finds that she's gone, so I know they were bad guys."

Donovon jaws tick in anger, as he silently listens to Oliver.

“Why did you put yourself in danger and saved Ella?” I cup his face gently in my palm, as I recall the condition in which I have found him. Even though I am glad he did, but still, my heart aches when I remember his injuries.

"My wolf told me to save her," he whispers, glancing at Ella, "He said to protect her, and now I will always protect her."
