Wolf Bond

I watch Emma helping Donovon back to the bed, and sitting beside him as he keeps his hold on his hand.

My heart tearing apart, looking at them, but I refuse to cry. Because I will not let anyone give the satisfaction of knowing how much hurt I am.

Swallowing back my tears, I force myself to take a breath and my hand instinctually goes to my bump realizing I am not the only one who is going through the feeling of this rejection.

Once again I feel my heart clenching painfully, thinking about my daughter whose father has just threatened to kill her...

Suddenly intense anger burns inside me, wanting to destroy everything and anyone... including him for threatening my pup.

At this moment, I am not anyone's friend... I am not anyone’s mate... I am not anyone’s Luna... I am not Ivory. I am just a mother, whose child’s life has been threatened.

Fire anger combines with mine, as even she is going through the same emotions.

“Control yourself.” I hear James’ voice, “Ivory, think about your pup.”

I don’t even realize when he has come here.

“He wanted to kill my pup...” A low growl comes from within me which is strong enough to capture everyone’s attention including Donovon’s.

“I know, I have heard everything.” There is hidden anger behind his voice. “But you have to control yourself, otherwise, you will harm Ella.”

Ella... my sweet innocent Ella.

“Calm... calm...” He kisses my head as he protectively holds me against him.

Surrounded by the familiar warmth of my brother, I inhale his scent trying to calm myself because at this moment he is the only one in this room who can comfort me and my wolf.

Closing my eyes, I slump against James’ chest as my body loosens its strength.

“Don’t worry, Ivy, your brother is here,” he says with a determination, “He will take care of you.”

“If anyone dares to say anything to my sister or my niece, I will tear them limb by limb.” He growls, his every word holds a promise, “Mate or whore... I will not give a damn.” He glares at Donovon and Emma.

“Who do you think you are calling a whore?” Emma glares as she marches towards James, “If there is a whore in this room it is your sis-”

She didn’t even manage to finish her sentence as her scream echoes in the entire room, as James has grabbed her jaw and broken it between his fingers while holding me against his chest with his other arm.

“Not a word more,” he says quietly, anger ringing in his voice.

Donovon jumps to his feet and comes to attack James, but even before he can come anywhere near us James land a punch on his face.

Donovon is no match to James’ strength without his wolf and instantly sprawls on the floor on the impact.

“I wish my sister would have stayed mateless rather than being a mate of such a worthless person.” James’ chest rises and falls while his voice deepened as his wolf coming forward, “A person can be robbed of his memories, but not his feelings. Only if he had truly loved her, then he could have read the truth in her eyes.” He growls at Donovon.

Emma cries as she clings to Donovon while he stares at me, his eyes locked with mine.

“Please take me away from here,” I manage to say while turning my face away from Donovon, as my chest weighs down with suffocation making it difficult for me to breathe.

Soon I feel darkness taking my senses as I clutch James’s shirt tightly in my hands to stop myself from falling.

Last thing I remember James picking me up walking outside the room, as Julia panicked voice reaches my ear before I fall into the pit of unconsciousness.

When I got back consciousness I find myself in Julia and Arthur’s home. Thankfully, I was not placed in Donovon’s old room as it would have hurt me, even more, to be surrounded by his scent.

Currently, we all are sitting in the living room trying to understand what is going on. James is sitting on my one side, as his arm is protectively wrapped around my shoulder, while Jenna is on my other side. Julia and Arthur are sitting on the opposite couch and worry lines are visible on their faces, they look like they have aged ten years in the past few hours.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him.” Arthur shakes his head, “Only the logical explanation of this is, that since his wolf his missing so all the memories connected to his wolf are also gone. And Ivory is a big part of those memories. Also, mate bond is connected with our wolves so that’s why he can’t even feel the mate bond.”

My Wolfie.

This only means Donovon never truly loved me because if he did, then missing of mate bond wouldn’t have changed his feelings.

“He doesn’t remember Ivory at all.” Jenna shakes her head in disbelief, “He doesn’t remember all these past months which he has spent with her, even he is not recognizing her as his friend.”

“I was never his friend,” I speak for the first time since we came here, “Wolfie was my friend, with him being gone along with our mate bond... I am no one to Donovon.”

“Emma was his friend and his love, he was tied to me because of mate bond. All the feelings which he had for me, was because of the mate bond without mate bond there is no love.” I swallow the hurt while biting my lip.

“Ivory, my child, don’t think like this,” Julia speaks softly, trying to comfort me. However, even she can feel whatever I am saying is true, “He always waited for his mate, he loves you.”

“He did love me because of the mate bond, but in his heart, it was always Emma.” I shake my head, “Donovon has said to me, he always loved his mate... me. But the truth is that whatever we had was just the effect of mate bond, suppressing his real feelings which he has for Emma.”

“I have called Cole to explain what Emma is doing here since she has left the pack and came here unannounced.” Arthur cuts in, changing the topic, as he starts pacing in the room. "He will be here soon then he can tell us everything how she found out about Donovon."

“That girl is like a leech, she's only after Donovon because he is an Alpha. I have never liked her from the beginning.” He shakes his head, clenching his jaws, “She always used to fill Donovon’s mind with crap, even when they were children, instigating him against his wolf as Storm could hardly tolerate anyone especially her. But I wish somebody had seen her true colors before suggesting to Donovon to accept her as his mate.” He glares at Julia whose glances down with shame.

“She was his good friend, and it had been so long and he hadn’t found his mate, with her mate being dead I thought they could accept each other as the second mates. I feared his mate has also died, so I don’t want him to go through the suffering of being mateless all his life.” She cries hiding her face in her hands, “I swear, Ivory, the moment I knew he found his true mate... and you are his mate I was the happiest person. As a mother only wishes for her child’s happiness.”

“I know, Julia,” I sigh, “You only thought about his well being. And I can never blame you for looking after your son.”

“I have informed Elders Benjamin and Ophelia everything which has happened.” Wyatt walks through the front door with a solemn look, “They will be here in three days since Elder Ophelia powers are weak due to eclipse and it will take three days for her to regain her powers until then they can't travel.”

Suddenly, I remember my dream as something clicks in my mind, while a hope flares in my heart.

“Wolfie is not gone.” I look at everyone, “He is being trapped somewhere. And I feel even Donovon has not lost his memory, but he is under some kind of spell which is concealing his memories from him.”

When I have got everyone’s attention I explained to them what I have seen and felt. By the time, I finish explaining everything there is complete silence in the room.

Another puzzle solves in my mind, regarding what has happened with me when Jenna and I were going to the clinic, but I keep that information to myself. Only Ophelia can tell whether what I am feeling is right or not before I can share this piece of information with anyone.

Whoever it is, has not only trapped Wolfie but their aim was to even harm me and my pup. But they didn’t know that no spell can work on me and my body worked as a shield for my pup, protecting her from getting harmed when we were attacked.
