Wolf Bond

Donovon’s POV

My eyes shift to the table calendar as an effortless smile tug at the corner of my lips.

One month has passed since I have claimed Ivory as my Luna, and this last month has been nothing but blissful.

She is my partner, my better-half in every sense and she shares all my responsibilities equally with me. From pack’s internal matters to its security matter, she takes every duty of her very seriously and until now she has never disappointed me.

Apart from being a kind and empathetic Luna, she is an equally amazing mate who challenges me to be better every day.

However, the concern of her safety always remains at the top of my mind. There have not been any rogue attacks in days, everything is going quite. And honestly, I don’t know whether it is a good sign or just the silence before the storm. This thought always makes me anxious.

Cole had managed to track down the traitor who had switched the original blade with the silver one. However, before we could have questioned him he killed himself. So, we have no idea who was behind this.

There must be a chance someone from the inside is helping our enemies. But without any proof or evidence, we can't doubt anyone. However, I don't trust anyone when it comes to Ivory's safety, just a handful of people who can never betray us.

For the last month, Ivory is being trained to fight in her wolf form, she is a good fighter in human form. But we need her wolf to be strong as well.

Fire is really fierce but has a strong mind. She is watchful and extremely protective and never backs down from any challenges. She has a strong personality and she is not as welcoming as Ivory.

So, it was a challenge to make her agree for training. She doesn't like being ordered at all.

However, one thing is common between both of them that they are really caring and compassionate. But Fire only shows her this side to people she likes.

Cole knocks on my office door and peeks his head inside the door, an annoyed expression settled on his face.

“Emma wants to meet you.” He sighs irritatedly, “She has been bothering me for days, but now she has started bothering guards as well. She is saying that she just wants to meet you once.”

Since the Luna Ceremony, I have banned her entrance in the packhouse or in my office and strictly ordered her to stay away from Ivory and me. She has been nothing but trouble since she found out Ivory is my mate.

I still see her at training grounds but I don’t interact with her.

She has ruined our friendship with her insane behavior. Sometimes, I do feel bad that I have lost a friend. She has been there for me when I was struggling to deal with the pressure of being Alpha’s son and when I was failing to make a bond with my wolf after my first shift. She understood me and what I am going through.

She was by my side when I was failing, but then why she couldn’t be happy for me when I have finally found my true happiness... my Ivory.

“Donovon, please, listen to me once I promise I will not bother you again.” I hear Emma’s voice as she tries to push Cole out of the way to come inside my office.

“Stay back,” Cole growls, holding the door tightly in his hand not allowing her to come inside.

“Let her in, Cole.” I let out a breathe, “Let’s just get over with this.”

Emma is in my office, she wants to talk to me. If you want you can come to my office as well, so whatever she says it will be in front of you.

I mind link, Ivory because I don’t want to hide anything from her.

She is a pack member she has the right to talk to her Alpha. However, as long as she keeps her hands to herself I don’t have any issue. Otherwise, I will allow Fire to have some personal conversation with her.

She instantly replies and her reply forces me to choke down laughter. Because I know if Fire will have any kind of conversation with Emma, after the conversation I will have one less pack member.

Donovon, I don’t trust her, but I trust you. And I know you will never betray my trust.

She sends another mindlink which warms my heart.

“Can we talk?” Emma speaks before I can reply to Ivory.

“Yes.” I curtly nod my head, while keeping my mindlink open so that if Ivory wants she can listen to our conversation.

“However, before you say anything, keep this in mind that I will not hear a word against my mate and Luna of this pack.” I take my seat behind my table, as while keeping my impassive gaze on her.

Her eyes fill with tears, as she glances at me. Somewhere I feel guilty for being rude to her, but she didn’t leave me with any other option. She disrespected, not just once but numerous times, the one who is the most important person in my life... whom I love.

She wipes her tears and composes herself taking a deep breath.

"I want your permission for the transfer of the pack," she says quietly, "I want to shift to the Cresent pack where my aunt lives."

Honestly, I feel shocked that she hates Ivory so much that she is ready to leave her pack where she has been born and raised. But then I think this is for the best, both for Ivory and her.

"Okay, I will talk to Alpha Marcus, and prepare things for your transfer," I reply to her in a stoic tone.

"You will not stop me, Donovon?" She asks while her voice cracks.

"I will not stop any pack member from leaving the pack if they don't want to live here." I clasp my hands on the table, "It is their choice, which I will respect."

"Am I just a pack member to you?" She cries, "Do you only see me simply as a pack member, wasn't I something more to you?"

"You were more than a pack member to me, but not anymore." I shake my head, "Because you ruined our friendship with your own hands."

"I ruined it?" She lets out a humorless chuckle, "Open your eyes and see, I am not the one who ruined it. This is all because of her."

"Emma, I think you should leave," I firmly say, not wanting to listen to her nonsense.

"Don't worry, Alpha, I am leaving." She masks her expression, "There is nothing left here for me, now, because whatever was mine has been snatched from me."

She glances at me for the last time, as she walks outside the room.
