Wolf Bond

Chapter 115

Donovon’s POV

Gavin and Luca instantly shift onto their wolves and start following Storm, whereas it takes a moment for Cole and Wyatt to get out of their shocks.

As soon as the initial shock wears off, my warriors and trackers take off after Storm, just like they always follow his commands.

It feels strange not to feel him, and watch him from outside like another person. I sprint after him as well, surprisingly I manage to catch up with him sooner than anyone of them. However, what is even more surprising is that I am easily keeping up my pace with him. Then I realize we both are one, he is me and I am him. Even though the situation is different, but still we are one.

He tilts his head towards me, his eyes hold an unreadable expression. I feel I am not the only one who is finding this weird. He lightly nudges his snout on my arm, which makes me smile.

Momentarily, a soft look passes through his eyes then again his eyes hardened as he raises his nose in the air and sniffs. He stops somewhere deeper into the woods and keeps growling while sniffing the ground.

He paws the ground and sniffs, then he looks around.

“Do you think she is here?” I ask him, rub my hand on his head trying to calm him as he looks extremely frustrated, “Or anywhere around?”

He again sniffs the ground and lets out a howl, voicing his annoyance. Others also join us, and without even waiting for the orders they start searching the surrounding area for any sign of Ivory.

Storm keeps on circling a single spot while growling lowly.

“They have taken her from here.” I understand what he is trying to tell, as for some reason neither I can read his thoughts, nor anyone can mindlink him.

He nods his head then scratches the ground with his paw while snarling as if he is trying to find something.

At the same time, we turn to look in the left direction when we hear someone approaching us. A few moments pass and James walks out of the woods along with Micah and a few other people.

I expected that when I will see Micah, I will experience the same amount of anger that I have felt earlier. But what surprises me is that there is no feeling of anger or hatred.

Micah doesn’t look like himself, he looks extremely weak almost starved, also I can see a hint of craziness dancing in his eyes.

What had happened to him?

My earlier anger has just vanished while a feeling of pity has taken its place.

“This is how I found him wandering near my pack border, ten days back. He hardly eats anything, he just blankly stares ahead like for him no one exists. He only reacted today, when I mentioned the disappearance of Ivory.” James speaks like he is answering my thoughts.

“What happened to him?” I can’t help but feel upset by looking at his condition, because he doesn’t seem like anything like the Micah I know.

“I don’t know, he hasn’t talked much other than talking some unintelligent stuff.” James shrug. “I was preparing to come here when he silently tagged along with me.”

Suddenly, a realization hits me... when Oliver pointed out at Micah’s scent, it was not actually his scent, it was Ophelia’s scent. Our scent always has a hint of our parents' scent, apart from our individual smell. A pup has a very strong smell of their parents, almost as strong as his own. However, as time passes the parent’s smell starts to fade, but still, it lingers with us throughout our lives.

Micah’s voice interrupts us, causing us to look at him.

“Moon has turned black, now darkness will end darkness...” He says while having an unfocused look in his eyes, he might be here with us physically, but mentally it seems like he is somewhere else.

Suddenly, he looks more focused as a slow smile comes on his lips.

“You are about to be freed from this curse, Donovon.” He looks at me and I see a glimpse of old Micah, “She will not show any mercy, as the time of forgiveness and mercy has already passed.”

He looks around the place where Storm is standing then turns to look at us.

“She has summoned shadows to bring Ivory to her, but what she didn’t know she has summoned her own death.” He laughs while there is a hint of pain in his laugh.

Something catches my attention and I walk towards Storm while keeping my eyes on the faint flickering of a black spot in the air. Storm also noticed what I am seeing as he curiously looks at it, as if he is trying to figure out what it is.

When I touch the spot, my hand passes through it while a feeling of coldness encases my hand.

“What the fuck!” Cole exclaims when I pull back my hand back from the black spot.

“We just found out a way to get to our Ivory,” I smirk while my gaze meets with my wolf’s. And the next moment, we both step inside ignoring the others.

Apart from the strange coldness which we have experienced, it just feels that we have simply passed from one door to another. This forest looks exactly like the one we were in before, however, here I can feel a stronger sense of Ivory’s presence.

Our bond has come alive, like the invisible barrier which was blocking it, has been removed. But at the same time, that strange commanding voice inside my head also becomes more vivid. But the only difference is that this time it is commanding me to help her. However, this voice has no effect on me, it is only annoying me.

The air fills with a putrid smell, as the sound of various footsteps surround us.

Storm stands taller, as he eyes the rogues appearing from behind the trees. While my body hums with unfamiliar energy as my muscles recoil as I prepare myself to fight.

One of the rogues makes the first move and decides to attack me which was his big mistake as Storm leaps at him and closes his teeth around his neck snapping it instantly.

His limp body falls on the ground as Storm comes and stands beside me while small growls ripples through him. As soon as the first rogue is killed, the rest of them attacks us from all sides.

It is us two against almost fifteen of them. The numbers are not in our favor, but this doesn't faze us. Storm and I fight side by side, and it just feels so natural like we have been fighting like this all our lives. In a way it is true, he has always been with me.

Taking out my hunting knife, I tighten my grip on the handle as I plunge into the chest of the rogue whose I am fighting with. They are in their wolves, so the easier way for me to kill them is by using the blade. And we have to be quick as we have to find Ivory. Adreline pumping through my veins make it easy for me to ignore the pain from scratches and bites, and focus on my goal to kill as many rogues as I can.

Another rogue tries to bite my arm, but Storm jumps at him and slashes his neck with his sharp claw. I look at Storm and notice even he has got numerous injuries from the fight, just like I did. However, this doesn't stop us or slows us down.

Shoving my knife, into another rogue's chest, I look around to see if there is any more left, but fortunately, most of them have been dead, and who are alive they are on the verge of dying.

Abruptly, piercing pain shoots through my middle forcing me to intake a sharp breath. My first thought is that maybe Storm has gotten hurt, but when I look at him I see him finishing off the last rogue by ripping off his windpipe. My eyes widen as I can’t help but feel panic when I realize this feeling of pain is coming from Ivory.

Storm howls, confirming my fear as even he has felt her pain. I feel a strong pull inside my heart, and without even thinking I start running in the direction from where I am feeling this pull because I am sure this will lead me to my Ivory.

Storm runs beside me while a dangerous glint is present in his eyes, he almost looks feral.

Suddenly, my mind starts filling with the images of Ivory and me, all the memories which were locked away now start playing like a scene inside my mind. It should be relieving to recall all my moments with her, but I am feeling anything but relieved as an unknown fear is gripping my heart.

You better be alright Ivory.
