Chapter 37.

CHAPTER - THIRTY SEVEN
I look around, surprised.
“Why is it that I always wake up in unidentifiable places?” I murmur. Swinging my legs off the bed, I open the door of the bedroom and walk outside. In contrast to the cozy atmosphere of the bedroom I woke up in, the hallway is much colder and the lights are dimmed making it feel as though you’re walking through a haunted house.
“Oh. My. God!”
I was pulled into the arms of a woman. Her long hair covers my face, some of the strands even getting into my mouth. I make an ugly face and try to get myself away from the arms and strong perfume that envelope me. As I struggle, another hand pulls me away from the woman by force. Demon boy. ”Control yourself. She needs to be alive for me to marry her.” He says. I don’t get time to glare at him before the woman is reaching out for me again. I hide behind Zylen, fearing what the woman would do.
Swallowing, I try to look over his shoulder at the strange woman.
“Okay, okay, just let me see her.” The woman says. When Zylen doesn’t budge, she adds, “I’ll control myself... I promise.” At this, Zylen takes a step away from me – that traitor. I look the odd woman, who I can’t recognize. She, however, seems to have no problem since she’s beaming with excitement. She looks like royalty – even though she’s dressed in jeans, a top and leather jacket along with sneakers. She looks like she’s barely crossed over to twenty, though something tells me that she’s much, much older. I hesitate, before asking, “Who are you?” My voice isn’t more than a whisper since I’m afraid she’ll crush me in another hug if I speak louder. She looks surprised but then smiles, her pony moving from side to side.
“I’m Corah Michaels, your great-aunt.”
My great-aunt was cool.
Cool as in attractive and impressive, I mean. Like I had guessed before without knowing her, she was quite old as a demon but dressed like a young human. We had a long, long talk and she was the one to speak most of the time as I listened. A few minutes ago, however, she was called to handle a situation, which is why she sent Zylen and me outside so he can show me around.
Friella wasn’t much different from Hiaven, though.
Except that in Friella I felt like I belonged here. Maybe it was because this was the kingdom I was connected to – where my ancestors were from – or because this was the kingdom I was to rule one day. Because deep down I knew that no matter how much I convinced myself that I didn’t want to rule, I would eventually have to. One day. Also, Friella was more beautiful than Hiaven.
It’s probably because it’s a kingdom which has always been ruled by women. It made me proud to know that this kingdom was the one I truly belonged to. And Zylen was right, being here was making me reconsider a lot of things I’d planned but after giving a bit of thought to it, I wanted to stick to my original plan itself. It was for the best, really. I wasn’t ready to become a Queen so my great aunt could keep her position for a few more years – even though she continuously complained during our talk that she was tired of the position.
“Do you like it?” Zylen steps beside me as I walk down the street. “Where is everyone?” I ask. There are not many people around, except for a few children who are playing around. “It’s summer.” He says plainly. I nod since it is burning hot. Through the windows of a few houses, I can see women preparing food and calling the children inside. “So, there are seasons here too?” I question. “Yeah,” Zylen says rolling his eyes.
“I like her.” I start. “Who?” Zylen questions. “Corah.” At my words, Zylen nods. “She’s...she’s...very....” I struggle to find the right word. “Energetic?” Zylen offers. “That too...” I say, but I can’t find the right word. It’s at the tip of my tongue. “Ardent?” Zylen offers again. I shoot him a sour look, pausing my walk. “Enthusiastic?” Zylen offers once more and I snap my fingers. “Ah, enthusiastic.” I clap my hands. Ignoring Zylen’s sour look, I pat him on the back once before resuming my walk. “She looks a lot like my grandmother too...” I say. “They were sisters after all,” Zylen says and I smile before speaking.
“That they were.”
“Do you want to do it?”
“Do what?” Alexandria asks me. “Move away I mean...” I ask. Alexandria rolls her eyes, “See this is exactly the kind of talk we shouldn’t have just three days before I’m moving away...” She says. “I mean, you’ll be so far off...we can’t meet quite often either...” I reason. “So, we’ll make the best of the times we do meet.” She says, grasping my hand. I scowl but then nod understandingly. “So, what are you going to do when you see the wolf?” I ask. “...I can’t exactly go up to him and say that – ‘hey, I’m the girl whose family you and your pack murdered and whom you ultimately turned into a demon’ – because I’m scared he’ll bite my head off or something...so I’m thinking I’ll go for the casual approach.” Alexa says, sarcastically.
“Just be careful...” I tell her.
“I will. I’m good at masking my scent well so I can think I can stall off the fact that I’m a demon...unless they get me really angry or something cause that’s when the violet eyes come out and if that happens, I’m a goner.” She says. And then her phone buzzes. “I have to go...” She gets up. “This landlord won’t breathe in peace until I’m out of my apartment for good...” I hear her murmur.
Giving me a hug, she runs down and before I can follow her, the front door closes and she’s gone. I sigh, dropping down on my bed. “You can come inside now,” I say, and the balcony door opens. “Why is it that every time she comes over, you send me away?” Zylen says.
“Cause I’m jealous,” I say, sitting up. “Every time the both of you start talking, I feel left out. Plus, it’s always better to keep the best friend and boyfriend separate from each other.” I say, folding my arms across my chest. A little smirk finds its self on my lips as I stare at Zylen’s surprised face. “Didn’t expect me to say that?” I ask, pressing my lips together. “Definitely did not...” He murmurs. “You’re becoming quite unpredictable these days, Ms. Martin and I don’t know whether I like that or not.” Zylen teases, sitting next to me. “Well, I am being influenced by someone...” I say with a teasing smile.
“Hmm...” I sigh once more when an uncomfortable silence falls between us. Zylen doesn’t know what to say or do and neither do I. I turn my head towards the demon king, who’s surprisingly fidgeting a bit. “I should go...” He mumbles, turning towards me when I suddenly capture his lips with my own. The response is immediate. From staying in silence, we shifted to kissing. I enjoyed the feeling of Zylen’s lips against my own. Zylen’s hands moved from grasping my face to my hips and a second later, my legs were on either side, straddling him.
I didn’t want to put too much thought into it like last time. I just wanted to enjoy the feeling of being so close to Zylen. And as his lips continued to move against mine, my desire for him reached new heights. All I wanted was to feel pleasure tonight. All I wanted was to feel him against me as both of us enjoyed the feeling of one another. Unknowingly, my fingers drifted towards his shirt and I realized this when I was done undoing the last button. My hands glided over the smooth skin of his chest, just as his hands succeeded in ripping off my top. The grip on my hips tightened, moving me against him effectively making me moan into Zylen’s mouth. I felt the satisfaction radiating from him and because of that, I felt content. I felt content because I knew I was the one who was satisfying him.
Just as much as I liked kissing him, I liked it even further when his hands were on my skin. Zylen’s hands never drifted any lower, which made me both disappointed and excited at the same time. Not breaking contact, I managed to pull down my jeans to my knees as Zylen’s lips continued trailing kisses down my neck. However, pulling my jeans down to my knees wasn’t a good choice because I was now stuck and in an uncomfortable position. I felt Zylen smile against my neck. Breaking away, I look into his hazel eyes, which are beginning to show a purple glint in them. “What?” I ask. He doesn’t respond verbally. Instead, he looks down to where my legs are stuck in the jeans. “Yeah...” I roll my eyes, wanting to swing my legs off when I’m rolled onto my back.
I stare up at Zylen. He suddenly swoops in for another kiss. I don’t object. Moving my lips with his, I feel his hands teasingly pull down my jeans. Smiling against his lips, I glide my hands down his chest and towards his jeans. However, before I can go further, my wrist is grasped in a tight grip. Zylen looks at me like he’s asking for confirmation. I nod, yet he doesn’t seem convinced. “I...” I’m breathing hard. “...I.... want...this...” I stay, and my hand reaches up and brushes through his hair, then his eyes, lips. Reaching up, I steal a kiss, before speaking once more, “I.... want...you...” I say. Something changes in that moment. I see him change as well. It feels like the shield between us slips and then one moment, we’re looking into each other’s eyes, and the next moment, he surrenders himself after receiving all the confirmation he could ever need.
Then my lips are moving against his right before I lose myself in the pleasure and the feeling of being taken by the demon king.
