Chapter 55
~~~Third person POV~~~
Ember’s body hummed with power as Dimitri’s warriors poised to attack. What a coward. Her lips curled into a snarl. How dare he wreak havoc on her life and then not meet her in battle. He won’t get away from her. Not this time. To think he thought he could just thrust his rogues in front of him to protect him. That trick won’t work with her.
Ember emitted a deep, rumbling growl that shook the ground, halting the warriors in their place. Dimitri paused mid step, the power in her voice freezing him in his place. He slowly turned around to meet her furious gaze.
Her eyes blazed white as she took in the warriors surrounding her. Rogues with no semblance of loyalty. Her eyes trained on the red eyed devil. He was trembling at the aura rolling off of her in waves, choking him.
How could she be so powerful.
Her head tilted to the side as she eyed him. “You dare run from me? What’s the matter?” She chuckled darkly. “Afraid you can’t take the pain? I seem to remember you like pain.” His face paled as she stepped closer.
Jaxson tensed as he watched his mate draw closer to Dimitri’s rogues. He wanted to step in, but he knew in his heart Ember would hate him for it and she needed to do this alone. She needed to face the demon of her past head on.
A spark flamed in Dimitri’s eyes. He would not be brought down by some little girl. She may have alpha blood in her, but he is a warlock. He knew they were outnumbered. He needed to figure out how to gain an advantage and fast.
Whispering an incantation, he waved his hand over the rogues he employed. At least they can be useful for something. Their muscles grew larger, their teeth sharper and longer. He imbued them with speed and strength. There. That will level the playing field.
He smirked as Ember’s growled under her breath. She may be able to stop his warriors with one growl, but she couldn’t stop him.
In one instant, the rogues lunged to attack, heeding Dimitri’s orders to leave Ember be. She was his. If he couldn’t have her delicious cunt for himself, he would kill her before letting someone else have her. He was the first to enter her untouched body, the first to fill her with his seed, the first to get her to conceive. She was his, no exceptions. He almost felt bad about the thought of killing her. He’d never had such a good fuck in his life. He loved hearing her scream as she ripped into him. Her tight body enveloping his dick like no one else could. She would have made a good sex slave. But she was more trouble than she was worth. Maybe before he killed her, he could take her one more time.
Ember glared at Dimitri with hatred. How did he get to be this way? She guessed she would never find the answers she truly wanted. She could see him muttering under his breath and watched as the rouges gained strength. Shit. She quickly huffed out her own protection spell on her pack. It wasn’t as powerful as Dimitri’s, but it would help.
The two packs met head on, a scrabble of snapping bones and howls of pain. The sound of flesh ripping, gun shots reverberating through the air, knives clashing against one another. It all turned to shit quickly.
Jaxson tried to keep one eye on Ember as he fought. Christ, these guys were strong and fast. Whatever that asshole did helped. As fast as he could put one rogue down, another followed. He glimpsed Ember and Dimitri standing still staring at one another, after he thrust his knife in the belly of a rogue; yanking it up and out his body.
“You surprise me little wolf.” Ember continued glaring at Dimitri as she tried to formulate a plan in her head. Her eyebrow quirked up at his words. “I thought I killed your wolf. And now you’re back, better than ever. Bet you’d be even more of a beast in the sack.” He purred out his last words causing Ember to physically grimace.
“You’re a pig. I wish I could know why all this happened. Why overthrow my father? Why do everything you did? You’re disgusting.” His eyes darkened at the words that she spat from her mouth.
He’s always been a demented person, even as a child he was abnormal. He would always spend his time secluded in the woods, catching animals and practicing his talents on them. People in his coven steered clear of him. He heard those exact words all the time growing up.
He never knew his father. And his mother would barely look at him when she interacted with him. She always had this fearful look in her eyes. Like she saw something in him she hoped she wouldn’t. Her dying words shook him. “You’re just like your father.” His mother had said it with such disgust. Then she left home. Alone in the world at ten years old. He fled the coven and honed his powers on his own, quickly becoming known as a fierce and powerful foe. But he was missing something. His body craved and longed for something more.
He had known of his cousins who were wolves. Their complicated family history too much of a pain to try and unravel. He had spent months, years even, watching them be a happy family. He watched Ember grow into a beautiful woman and live happily and he wanted that all for himself. So, he took it. His body grew hot at her words. You’re disgusting. He knew he was. But he couldn’t stop himself. The need to be buried deep inside her, even if she was his cousin, spurred him into action. He had played nice and won them over. He never interacted fully with Ember, mostly just watching from afar, but Ember’s father saw the lust he held in his eyes for her one day. And rebelled against him. Disgusting.
Dimitri clenched his teeth and pushed his palm towards her. A large gust of wind flowed from his fingertips pushing her backwards.
Ember huffed in irritation and lifted her right arm, palm facing up. Dimitri looked on confused for a moment until a soft glow began forming on her palm. He had missed her using her powers on the pack earlier, to enraptured by his own thoughts of her body writhing beneath his.
His eyes widened as a ball of fire erupted on her hand. She screamed at him as she hurled it towards his face. He just barely managed to duck in time, the tip of his hair becoming singed from the heat. He glanced behind him at where the fire ball landed, in shock.
“Oh dear. Weren’t expecting that were you?” Ember smirks as she pushes a wave of energy towards him, knocking him off his feet. He growled jumping to his feet as he chucked a ball of sizzling energy towards her.
Ember was thrown backwards, tumbling in a heap on the cold ground. Energy crackled around her as she raised back to her feet.
Ember! Jaxson’s panicked voice reached her. He had felt the impact from that, and dread had filled him before he heard her reply.
I’m fine. She grunted back before focusing on Dimitri again. She couldn’t get distracted. She slowly walked towards him, the wind whipping through her hair as he shuffled away from her. The wind whipped around her making her look like some dark, avenging goddess.
“How is this possible! You didn’t have powers before!” He screamed at her, now realizing just what he was up against. An alpha wolf he could handle. And alpha wolf with surging powers? He began to feel just a trickle of fear.
He pushed his hands outwards again, flames bursting from them like a flame thrower as he advanced on Ember. He stalked closer and closer. The fire rushing around him, racing closer to Ember. The orange glow igniting his red eyes making them brighter with a deathly gleam. She quickly threw her own hands out, a wave of water pushing out to extinguish his fire. She ground her teeth in irritation. They were getting nowhere with this.
As soon as the fire was out, she lunged forward, drawing a knife Jaxson had tossed her earlier, and launching herself into him. He was taken by surprise by her attack.
Their knives clashed as he drew his quickly to block her. They danced around each other, blocking and thrusting. Neither gaining the upper ground. They seemed to be evenly matched. Or so Dimitri thought. He missed the sly smile on her face. He didn’t realize she was gaining ground bit by bit. She did it slowly, not wanting him to notice until it was too late. On her next overhead blow, Dimitri blocked but failed to notice her leg swinging towards his side. His breath was knocked loose from his body as he hunched over coughing. She swept her leg, knocking his out from under him and he crumpled to the ground, his knife falling from his grasp.
She whispered to the wind, making her words drift on air current to the nature that surrounded her. Roots and vines twisted and turned at her command. Breaking through the surface of the forest floor and rushing towards Dimitri’s limbs. They twisted around his ankles and wrists, tightening to effectively hold him in his place. He screamed and thrashed to get loose. Ember smirked at his current position.
“Look familiar? I’m fairly sure you had me chained up this way.” She growled out. Dimitri’s eyes stayed glued to her advancing form as she stalked slowly towards him. His teeth clenched as he tried not to show her fear. She wasn’t some little girl anymore. No. She was a wild, feral beast.
Ember stood before Dimitri, her head held high and her eyes cold and dark with vengeance. She reached out, grasping his shirt and fisting it in her hands. With one quick pull, she ripped it off his body.
“Time to feel exactly what you put me through.” Her lips curled into a deadly smirk. His eyes widened and he renewed his thrashing to no avail. Ember flicked her wrists towards the ground; a long thin root twisted up from the ground behind Dimitri. Ember’s eyes blazed as she gave the final command. The root whipping backwards and hurtling forwards at startling speed until it met with the skin of his back. He let out an agonized scream.
The root didn’t let up its torment. Whizzing through the air as it repeatedly whipped Dimitri. His voice now a croaked gasp at each lash. Blood seeped from his back and his eyes fought to remain focused. Never had he felt such pain. He was in agony. New lash marks laying on top of the ones trying to heal making the pain ten times greater. He was fighting to remain conscious, knowing that if he slipped into darkness, he would have no way of fighting back. Not like he could but the thought of just giving up didn’t sit well with him.
“You made my life hell. You took everything from me.” Ember would scream her pent-up feelings at him through the lashes, making every single one cut just a bit deeper. She looked at his unscarred chest, thinking of ways to make the pale flesh turn red.
One corner of her lip quirked up. She brought her knife towards his chest. His screams began again as she started to carve her name into his flesh.
“Stop.......” Dimitri managed to gasp out.
Ember cupped her hand to her ear. “I’m sorry. What was that? Almost sounded like you were begging for mercy.” She chuckled. “No. No, you don’t get to beg for me to stop! How many times did I? And how often did you give in? Never.” She growled.
“Come to think of it. There was sooo much more that you did to me. You like butt play Dimitri?” His face a mask of fear and pain. His skin far paler than it should be.
“Maybe I should have Mark get some of those tools you used to use on me. That metal rod might do well. I could make you feel really good.” She drawled out as she spoke sarcastically.
No. He should feel what it’s like to lose his dick. She lengthened her claws and shredded his pants, letting them hang in shreds. She traced his flaccid dick with the tip of her knife, making him tremble.
“Time to lose your precious weapon.” She felt dirty grabbing him, but she forced herself to swallow the bile in her throat, to finish. She grabbed him tightly, and with precision, began slowly cutting through his flesh. He groaned out, a strangled scream that resembled if his mouth was stuffed with a gag to keep him quiet. Blood poured from his body. He was on his last leg, his death imminent if he didn’t feed from someone to replenish the blood he was losing. Once she had cut all the way through, she held it up in her hand like a trophy, flopping it in front of his face. He turned quiet.
Ember could see from the corner of her eye, the fight with the rogues was dying down. Suddenly a deep, slicing pain tore through her abdomen. Jaxson. Fuck. He better be ok. She needed to finish this.
She shifted. Her giant, white wolf hovered over his petrified body as she snarled in his face, teeth bared.
“No! No!” Dimitri mumbled out as her giant canines came closer to slice into his neck. Blood washed over her tongue. The crunch of his bones was delicious against her teeth. She relished as his screams turned into gurgles of agony as his own blood began to choke him. She clamped down harder, shaking her massive head as her jaws stayed firm against his neck.
She backed off only when she was sure he was dead. Silence followed. No one dared utter a word. It’s over. Finally. Ember honestly thought it would be harder than that.
The dull ache in her stomach brought her back to reality. Her heart plummeted.
Jaxson!
