Chapter 5: HER FEARS
"Just bring it to boil, Remy, okay? I'm just going to answer this call," I directed our maid.
I'm preparing food for tonight's dinner. I made an effort because this night was special for me.
I'm seven weeks pregnant.
Until now, I still could hear my baby's heartbeat.
I can't describe the happiness I felt earlier when I heard the tiny heartbeat of the baby in my womb.
I can't wait to hold this precious life, so I know I won't be impatient to wait for a few months.
"Hello, Mom..." I greeted my mother happily.
I just thought, is this how Mom felt when she found out I was in her womb?
"How are you, child?" she asked on the other line.
"I'm okay. How about you?"
I heard Mom sigh. I knew the reason for that, but I let her speak first.
My lips twitched at the restraint of choking. I'm sad because since Tranz and I moved here to South Ridge Village, I haven't had a chance to see my parents.
I want to visit them, but because our province is far from here, I can't do anything about it, especially now that I'm pregnant.
I'm busy with my business too.
"Your father and I have already missed you. When are you going to visit us? Mina, we haven't been together for two years, ah... We think you forgot about us." "N-Mom ..." I almost cried because of what Mom said.
I'm guilty of abandoning them.
Having a husband is not a reason for me not to visit them.
I didn't keep my promise to them, and that hurts me.
I made a promise to them after our wedding that I would always find time to visit them, but I did not fulfill that.
I was too busy with my married life. Add to that the fact that I was also busy taking good care of my business myself.
"Are you crying, child? Do you have a problem?"
I shook my head even though she couldn't see me. I wiped away my tears and calmed myself.
I sniffed before I answered Mom. "I'm fine, Mom. I just missed you, so when I heard your voice, I cried."
"Aren't you lying? Are you sure your husband isn't hurting you?"
For the second time, I shook my head again.
"No, Mom. Tranz is not that kind of person. My husband didn't lay his hand on me even once. We love each other, so that's unlikely to happen." I turned to Nana Marina when she called me. I raised my left hand to say just a moment. "Mom, I'll call you later, okay? I also have news for you and Dad. I just need to do something."
"Oh, it's fine. Your dad and I will wait for your call, okay?"
"Yes, Mom..."
After the two of us said goodbye, I approached Nana Marina.
"Is this all, Nana?" Despite crying because of talking to my parents, I smiled when I saw what was on the table.
"Yes, hija. Are you sure that's all you need?"
"Yes."
"All right. Take care of what you're cooking for your husband, and we'll take care of the rest."
"Is it okay?"
"What the hell is that, kid? Oh, of course." Nana Marina held me on my stomach before stroking my arm. She genuinely smiled at me. "I'm happy for you and your husband, hija. It's nice that after a long year, I will have the opportunity to take care of the child again. Alas! I think I'm even more excited with you." Nana Marina was the first to know that I'm pregnant. She has never left me alone since I came here. She didn't want me to do the cooking, but I begged her that I would be the one to cook Tranz's favorite food, which is bulalo.
"Oh, yes. We'll take care of these flowers. Let me show you how I fell in love with your Nonong Carding back then." Nana Marina even giggled, so I laughed too because of her jolliness.
The following hours became even more exciting because I have something to look forward to.
I'm already done cooking the foods my husband loves.
I rest a bit before going up to my room and taking a shower.
I wore the red gown that Tranz gave me last week. I paired it with a pearl necklace I bought the other day.
And because this day was exceptional, I will wear tonight the red sexy lingerie I bought. I'm almost taken aback by the price, but since it's for my husband and it's our anniversary, I spent money to be attractive in his eyes tonight. I put the lingerie on the bed. I took another glance of myself in the mirror before descending.
When I got down, I walked to the pavilion.
I smiled when I saw the traces of the flower on the pathway to the main place, which is the Pavilion.
When I arrived at the pavilion, I immediately smelled the fragrance of flowers.
Inside the pavilion, there was a table with candles and champagne.
Around the place, there are designed flowers such as lily, baby's breathe, and various colors of roses.
The design of the place is simple but elegant.
At the center, where the table is, are dangling flowers and small bulbs. The flowers and bulbs are circular in design, and in the center is a red ribbon with a white card hanging.
I opened the card and hovered over the embossed letters with my fingers.
You're a daddy now, Tranz!
We love you, daddy! Always and forever...
I wiped the tears away from my cheeks.
I'm happy, and I can't contain my happiness right now.
I was excited to see the reaction of the man I loved the most.
I was on my way home when my cell phone rang.
Mom, calling.
I answered the phone and talked to my parents.
We were in the middle of a conversation when Dad asked me something. I felt I've lost all my strength when I heard those words.
"W-what did you say, Dad?"
The sudden speed of my heartbeat and the seeming hum left in my ear were enough to make me faint.
"Have you and Lily ever met, your Dad asked," said my mother.
My eyes widened along with the trembling of my whole body.
"Lily is here in Manila?" I could barely open my mouth in too much tension.
What is wrong with me?
