Chapter 28
Natalie’s identity as a hacker was so unique that she couldn’t afford to slip up. She was a silent shareholder in the company, a
secret known only to Gavin and his father.
Brian couldn’t help but let out a snicker, tilting his head slightly as he looked towards Natalie. “I heard a little rumor, Ms. Wright is
about to get engaged to the eldest son of the Foster family, am I right? Don’t you know anything about avoiding conflicts of
interest?” His words stung more than a slap to the face.
Natalie stood still for a moment, then turned to lock eyes with Brian, her voice cold as ice, “Thank you for the heads–up, Mr.
Howard. But I trust everyone here is a close ally of Gavin and wouldn’t indulge in baseless gossip.”
With that, she said to Gavin, “No need to see me out. I can find my way.”
Gavin watched silently as Natalie stepped into the elevator. When he turned back, his gaze met Brian’s, chilling and intense.
After a tense moment, Brian stood up and walked into the adjacent conference room. Gavin followed, overhearing Brian’s soft
remark, “You’d do well to weigh your worth before you mess around with some women...”
Gavin was speechless.
Natalie met with Mr. Miller, who had been briefed by Gavin to secure her a role after a three–minute audition.
“Just leave your home address and phone number on the computer, and I’ll arrange a local agent for you. They’ll be in touch
soon,” Mr. Miller said, gesturing to a tablet as Natalie prepared to leave. Without suspicion, Natalie quickly filled out her
information and

left.
Passing by another office, she overheard a snide voice through the slightly ajar door, “...Gracia, don’t be upset. Those low–class
women are only fit to serve you! And with Mr. Howard coming here today, it’s for your movie! I must say, your biggest flaw is not
recognizing your talent.”
“Brian is here for me,” Gracia replied with a hint of arrogant pride. After a pause, she added with a sneer, “That woman... forget
it, she’s not even fit to serve me, just trash to be swept out the door. I’m above squabbling with her. I just find her pitiable.”
“Why not pick a role you hate for her? One where you can slap her in a scene? It’ll make you look generous and give you a
chance to vent,” her agent suggested.
Gracia chuckled lightly, “That’s a clever idea.”
“But I think scrubbing toilets would suit her better.”
Natalie paused in the corridor, listening to their words and laughing silently to herself.
It seemed that Brian was lacking in his appreciation.
Just then, a staff member rushed by, clutching a document. Bursting into the room, he announced, “Gracia, I’m sorry, but we
can’t sign this lead contract with you!”
“What kind of joke is this?” Gracia thought it was a prank, not taking it seriously.
“It’s true. The higher–ups have decided to terminate all your current contracts.”

“What did you say?” Gracia stood up abruptly from the couch, asking, “How is this possible? Any reason given? Does Brian
know about this?”
