This fool! This ignorant misogynistic fool! “Michael… allow me to drag your ass into the 21st century! Neither Ian… nor myself… exclude our Lunas from any aspect of our lives! Women are, by nature, strategic planners. They have the uncanny ability to see things we, as men, overlook! And to keep underestimating my mate is to get you closer to getting your ass kicked by her. And I will definitely allow it! She’s much more intelligent than you… and can absolutely beat the hell out of you…in case that black eye hasn’t shown you! She is quite obviously Alpha born… and I have no doubt could submit your ass in seconds! Now..your choices are…you sit there and try to be helpful or fucking leave! I am fed up with your bullshit! If you Ever speak out of turn..to my mate again, I will snap your fucking neck! Are we clear!?” He nods and I tell Damon to continue.

“The rogues breached from the east.. but, on leaving they ran south. We found traces of a camp about 50 miles out on the east side. Looked like they had been there a few days.. trackers are still on their trail to the south. It was a large encampment… and from what I could tell, there was close to 200 camped there. That’s a lot of rogues grouped together! We found two scents that smelled more pack than rogue and I have people tracing the scents.. just seeing if we can uncover what pack they may have come from” Alexis smiled at him and said “Good job, Damon! We appreciate it!” And he beamed at his Luna. She’s good with our people! She cares! And she’s exactly who we needed!

My phone rings and I answer “Sterling” Cody says “Alpha.. we have an issue… There seems to be an influx of several rogues in town. Max is reporting six eating at the diner.. Helena has had four browse the apothecary the last two hours… and Harvey over at the grocers states he has had a steady flow…averaging two at a time every thirty minutes or so. I sent some warriors to town to see if it is the same six that are in the diner…advise please” I link Damon to get ready to pull out.. trouble at home. He stands immediately..never saying a word and leaves. “Cody.. send the warriors.. surround the diner…I want those fuckers in custody by the time we are home. Have Helena ward the diner…I Do Not want a fight in my town! Those bastards hurt one…. Just One of our people I will crucify them!”

I link Alexis and tell her we are leaving. “Ian, I must leave! It seems these fuckers decided it was a good idea to head toward the largest pack in the country! I am leaving 20 of my best with you, here. They will not breach again…should they be so stupid as to try!”

Ian stands and shakes my hand…as he hugs Alexis.. then Caroline hugs her.. “If you need me, brother… I will be there with bells on!” I nod and turn to Michael.. “You may want to head home… Bear Creek is in the path of my pack!” And we left.

In the truck, Alexis is texting her uncle.. he sent her pictures of the rogues in his diner. She sent them to me. Then she texts Helena.. who told her not to worry.. she is safe. Not two minutes later, she’s sound asleep. Damon chuckles “She’s something else, isn’t she!? Fearless! I’m so proud to be her Gamma!” I smiled… she’s winning hearts! “She’s fond of you, too! She wore herself out with all that healing.. but I knew better than to tell her to stop! These attacks are puzzling. They’re coming out of nowhere… and random. But they targeted Ian.. purposely! Whoever is paying them, wanted him dead! I don’t like it!”

Arielle speaks to Athos 🐺 Athos, my mate… Blake needs to read the book… he will find what he needs to know Athos tells me what Arielle said.. I reach for the book.. I am rereading a particular chapter, when Alexis stirs and Damon says we’re five minutes out. She is just gorgeous! She whispers “I had a dream. At least, I think it was a dream. But it felt real! If it was real.. I am the only white wolf alive. Usually, there would be up to 50 of us… but over the last 100 years, they have been hunted and brutally murdered!” I pull her close to me… “I was just reading about that in our book.. we will figure this out.” 🐺 Cody… are they at the diner? 🐺 Yes…they have just been sitting…like they are waiting for something..or someone.

Stopping outside the diner, I ask Alexis to wait with her aunt..but of course, that was wishful thinking on my part. Cody meets us as we step from the truck. Max opens the door to the diner and immediately pulls Alexis in the back. Thank you, Goddess.. for small favors.

I grab a chair..turn it backwards, and straddle it “ Hello boys! I do believe you’re a little lost! You have exactly two minutes to explain the incredible amount of stupidity you’ve displayed by entering my territory!”

A man, mid thirties, I’m guessing, said “ We really aren’t looking for trouble. We are running from it. That’s the reason we didn’t hide when we came to town…I thought as long as we stayed in sight of your men, and made no threatening moves.. you would be more apt to hear me out.”

I watched him intensely for a few minutes… “You have my attention… What trouble are you running from? And why should I believe you?” He puts his head down, rubs his forehead with his hand “Last night, Yellowstone Pack was attacked…killing the Alpha. And, several more packs are on the hit list… rogues are being recruited….offered pay.. to take down Alphas…when the attack on Yellowstone commenced..my buddies and I hightailed it to the south. Heard this was the place to be, if we had any hope of surviving, whatsoever. We don’t care if you lock us in your cells! We just don’t want to be involved in what’s happening. We will give you any information we have…although it’s not much!”

I nodded..”What are your circumstances? Why are you rogue? You seem to have had no problem seeking refuge with my pack..therefore, I am assuming you have nothing against a pack structure.. so, color me curious”
