Chapter 1054
Eddy's voice dropped as he looked at Rebecca, his eyes filled with concern.
"Is that Francis guy treating you well?"
"Francis...?" Rebecca blinked, unsure of how to explain anything to him.
Seeing her hesitation only made Eddy more anxious. "Rebecca, are you sure about this? About being with him?"
As a man, Eddy understood other men all too well.
"I know I wasn't the best husband or partner," he admitted, sighing. "But what kind of person is Francis really? With his background, will he truly accept you, treat you right?"
For the longest time, he couldn't quite grasp what it was about Rebecca that had caught Francis's attention.
"This is my business," Rebecca replied, not wanting to delve further into the topic.
She brushed it off with a faint smile. "I'll handle it... You should go."
Eddy hesitated, his expression a mix of helplessness and resignation. He wanted to say more, to warn her, but couldn't find the right words.
"Alright... But if you ever need anything, I'm here for you," he offered, his voice softening.
Rebecca nodded, a polite smile playing on her lips. "Sure."
Eddy's eyes glistened with unshed tears, knowing deep down that she would never come to him for help.
"I'll be going then..."
"Okay."
Watching Eddy's retreating figure, Rebecca suddenly called out, "Eddy!"
He spun around, his eyes wide with surprise, and hurried back to her, wrapping his arms around her tightly.
Rebecca froze for a moment but didn't push him away. Instead, she whispered softly in his ear, "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry."
Over the years, she had wronged him too. Unintentionally, yes, but it was her mistake that led to their misguided past, her pregnancy, and all that followed. Eddy had been through so much pain because of it.
Rebecca lifted her arms, returning his embrace. "Let go of the past, Eddy. Live well."
"Yeah..." Eddy replied, his voice choked, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"You too," he added as he slowly released her.
Eddy stepped back, retreating with each step. "I'm leaving."
Rebecca nodded, watching him with a smile as he turned and eventually ran off.
Tears blurred her vision as she watched him go. Eddy, her former love and husband, had once meant the world to her. They had truly loved each other once upon a time.

"Had enough of that?"
A cold, steely voice broke the silence behind her.
Rebecca turned to find Francis standing there, his usually charming face clouded with an emotion she couldn't quite decipher. He looked dangerous, like a storm ready to unleash. en FindNovel
Right now, she wasn't in the mood to deal with him. She didn't want to talk.
Ignoring him, Rebecca tried to walk past, but Francis grabbed her arm, his grip tight with anger.
"What's going on in that head of yours?" he demanded, his voice rough.
"Let go of me!" Rebecca snapped, glaring up at him.
"I will," Francis growled, his breath harsh, showing just how upset he was. His piercing gaze bore into her. "But first, explain why you met with your ex-husband." Rebecca scoffed, glancing towards the restaurant's entrance. "Didn't you see? We were just having lunch."
"Lunch?" Francis's voice dripped
with sarcasm, his face a mask of cold fury. "Lunch involves hugs now? You two, looking at each other like that do you think I'm blind?
