Chapter 40 I just want you to be happy
Vivian was very excited about Patrick's visit, which made Christian a little jealous.
"All right, but don't overexert yourself."
Christian told her lovingly. He had become very naggy these days. Vivian had gotten used to his constant care.
"Vivian, Christian!"
Patrick walked in quickly and his eyes lit up at the sight of Vivian.
"Patrick!"
Vivian directly threw herself into Patrick's arms, leaving Christian stunned.
Patrick ruffled her hair. He was stunned too.
"Patrick, I've missed you so much."
She acted like an innocent teenage girl, which upset Christian even more.
Vivian had woken up for quite a while and she had never been so nice to him.
"All right. You're a mother now. How could you be so childish?"
Patrick held her chin and looked at her face carefully.
"Eh-hem!"
Christian coughed to announce his presence.
Patrick found Christian annoyed and he was a little embarrassed.
"Christian, I'd like to talk to Patrick alone."
Vivian's tone was serious. She took Patrick back to her room.
"He will freak out if you do so."
Patrick joked. He saw Christian's sullen face before he went upstairs with her.
"Patrick, what are you saying?"
Vivian hadn't expected that Patrick would make fun of Christian. She forgot what she had intended to say for a moment.
"What, are you feeling all right?" Patrick looked at Vivian very seriously.
"No, I'm fine."
She bit her lips because she found it difficult to speak up.
"Patrick, I don't know what I should do."
She hated to admit that she had felt attached to Christian. She had always known clearly what to love and what to hate, but it was difficult for her to choose.
Patrick knew her misgivings very well. He had given up hope of making her fall in love him long ago. He just wanted her to be happy.
"Vivian."
Patrick looked at her eyes very seriously and his tone was calm.
He found it necessary to dispel Vivian's doubt.
"Vivian, don't compromise for anyone or let our relationship get in the way."
"Whatever decision you make, it's the right one as long as you're happy."
"All I've wanted is for you to be happy."
Vivian twitched her nose and almost burst into tears.
"Silly girl, don't cry."
Vivian wiped her tears and hesitated before spoke her mind
She had always trusted Patrick unconditionally.
"Patrick, I don't know how to face Christian."
"Why would he be so nice to me? He even accepted the baby. But what about the past? Should we just ignore it?"
Patrick dried her tears and recalled what had happened in the past year.
"Vivian, have you ever thought that an irreconcilable conflict sometimes might be just a misunderstanding?"
Patrick touched her hair and Christian's determination came to his mind.
"He had become aware of his mistakes of having wronged you for so many years for someone's lies. He was indeed a bastard."
"But he did save your life, didn't he? When you fell down to the ground, he ran faster than I did and threw himself between you and the car."
"At the critical moment when your
life hung by a thread in the middle of the operation, he even got down

his knees to beg the doctor to give This heart for transplantation."
"Vivian, it's him who has been there for you in the past year, taken care of the baby and waited for you to wake up."
"I know how you've felt about him. Don't force yourself.
"Trust me, give him another chance."
Vivian was shocked and confused after hearing what Patrick had to say.
It was Christian who had saved her life.
It was Christian who had helped her get a new life.
It was Christian who had been there for her and never given up on her.
Tears were running down her f ace
She didn't know how to express her feelings now. Maybe she shouldn't have a prejudice against him anymore, like Patrick had said.
She had always assumed that Christian had done everything to get the baby. Yet she hadn't expected that he had made so many incredible decisions for her good.
"Why didn't he tell me?"
"Because we had agreed to play it fair. Christian is no longer reckless as before. I believe he knows more about love than I do."
Vivian's nose was red and her eyes were teary. She found it hard to process all these unexpected news.
Patrick hugged her gently. It was the first time he had hugged her so carefully. Or perhaps it was the last time for him to do so.
"Vivian, all I've ever wanted is for you.
to be happy. I've cared for you a lot,
and I don't want it to be a burden on you. Promise me, do whatever you want to do and love whomever you want to love. I wish you a lifetime of
happiness."
Vivian twitched her nose and cried. But she felt warm and happy.
