When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 118

Lemira didn't answer the question, instead, she turned around and walked toward the grand hall, her steps unwavering and determined. Throughout the whole ordeal, she never once glanced back at Alaric or Lucian, as if they were strangers. Left standing there, Alaric was soon swarmed by reporters. His patience wearing thin, he burst out, "Enough with the damn questions, what's it to you guys?"

Evelina, watching from the sidelines, couldn't hide her jealousy. She had never guessed Lemira was that streamer!

Especially considering Lemira had gained hundreds of thousands of followers in such a short time, far surpassing her own count. Evelina couldn't help feeling a pang of jealousy. Why should Lemira succeed just by playing the mysterious card, when she herself had worked so hard?

Lucian, however, remained cool as a cucumber. He pulled Alaric aside, his voice laced with a warning, "Enough, do you want to make this even more of a spectacle?"

Alaric turned away, wiping the corner of his eye, saying nothing in return.

Facing the press, Lucian declared, "We'll handle it. Please refrain from speculative reporting. We will issue an official statement soon."

After making his statement, Lucian briskly escorted Alaric into the venue, making it clear that any further inquiries should be kept away from the press.

Evelina lagged a step behind, turning back to the reporters with a look of distress, "I'm sorry for Alaric's behavior just now. Lemira's words were quite hurtful, and I understand she's upset, but isn't family supposed to settle their disputes behind closed doors? I just don't get it." With a smug smile creeping onto her face once she turned away, Evelina thought, Lemira planning to return to the Langston fold? Not happening!

---

Lemira immediately drew many curious glances upon her arrival. After all, nobody expected that SweetLemon, the overnight sensation and gaming streamer, was none other than Ms. Langston herself. Moreover, she was broadcasting for a company that was a direct competitor to the Langston family's interests. The curiosity among the attendees was palpable.

Inside the banquet hall.

Jessica couldn't hide her glee,

"That's so satisfying! They've always been so biased, never saw this coming, I guess! The look on Alaric's

face was priceless!"

Jessica had waited a long time for this day.

Lemira just gave a wry smile, but indeed, she felt pretty good. For once, she was attending this banquet on her own terms, not owing anything to anyone.

"Ms. Langston, pleasure to meet you. I'm Michel, the coach for the Reapers team. I'm wondering if you might consider joining our team?"

Lemira looked up to see a young

man in a suit. She recognized him -

after all, in her past life, this coach had led the Reapers to join the national team, ultimately clinching the global championship. He was also the coach of the legendary King.

Lemira was taken aback by the direct offer. She had heard the Reapers' captain publicly inviting her to join, but she never took such statements seriously.

Taking his business card, Lemira replied with slight surprise, "Mr. Michel, I haven't made up my mind yet."

"No worries. Perhaps we could discuss it further after the banquet. However, I am curious, how did you master the twelve-strike combo?"

Lemira knew this question was coming. She chuckled, "What if I said I'm self-taught, would you believe me?"

"Of course, I'd believe you. With your talent, I have to try and get you on my team."

Self-teaching the twelve-strike combo was no small feat. For years, aside from King, no one else had mastered it.

Michel sighed, "With such talent, I can't understand how your brother didn't manage to keep you."

"Michel, that's our family business, and it's not your place to interfere!" Alaric and Lucian approached, both looking rather displeased.
