Chapter 101
Lemira heard his voice but didn't feel like engaging with him.
The dungeon raid began, and Lemira teamed up with her fellow players to take down monsters.
Alaric, however, kept hovering around her, bombarding her with questions, "What's the deal? Are you not happy with the offer our company made? What more do you want?" Alaric was getting anxious. If he couldn't recruit someone suitable, what would they do for the finals at the end of the month? Lemira frowned. Did Alaric not realize there were other people in the team? Wasn't he afraid his words would give them away? Soon, a male voice chimed in, "Hey, isn't that the captain of SkyBlaze? If you're recruiting, at least show some manners!" "Yeah, such an impolite attitude. Those in the know would think you're headhunting, those not would think you're burying a body!" "Ms. Lemon, why don't you join the Reapers instead? Both the pay and fame are decent over there."
At the mention of Reapers, Alaric instantly flared up, "She's not allowed to go!"
She could not join the Reapers!
He had been nothing but patient. Until today, when he realized SweetLemon might actually be Lemira. That was when he lost his cool. "You're being too possessive, Mr. Langston, Ms. Lemon can join any team she likes."
"Exactly, you think you own the beach? Mind your own business!"
Alaric was infuriated, "What's it to you?"
This streamer might be his sister; he had every right to talk how he wanted, outsiders be damned.
Hearing this, Lemira spoke up helplessly, "Stop it, the Boss is about to spawn."
"Alright Miss, we'll listen to you."
"Let's give Ms. Lemon some credit. Even though we're just ordinary people, we're honest and not afraid of these trust fund babies." Lemira remained silent, leading her team to battle the Boss.
But Alaric seemed upset, choosing not to follow the team, trying to solo the Boss and eventually getting killed by the monster.
The team couldn't help but mock Alaric after seeing him die. Alaric, fuming, stared at his screen turned grayscale, "Damn it!"
His secretary approached him, "What's wrong, boss? The streamer won't agree to join?"
Alaric massaged his temples, "It's not about her joining anymore right now."
If this streamer really was Lemira! He didn't even know what to do!
He thought about Lemira's performance during her streams, skilled and knowledgeable about the game. It was as if she had undergone professional training.
A hint of doubt appeared in Alaric's eyes; he remembered Lemira never received professional training. How odd!
So, this streamer couldn't be Lemira! If she were, then all he had said would turn into a joke.
Alaric was actually afraid to face this truth. He told his secretary, "Find someone else."
"So, we're not pursuing this streamer?"
"Do as I say! I refuse to believe she's the only one out there for us."
Alaric was burning inside. Seeing how impressive the streamer was made his feelings even more complicated.
If this streamer truly was Lemira, was she playing him all along, just to mock him?
After finishing the instance dungeon, Lemira noticed Alaric had logged off. Probably bruised his ego, hence the logout?
Lemira knew Alaric well; he always cared about his dignity. Was this like slapping him right across the face where it hurt most? But Lemira didn't dwell on it much. Feeling tired after the raid, she left the study to get some water.
She saw Orion sitting on the couch, "When did you get back?"
Orion, who had been dozing off, slowly opened his eyes upon hearing her footsteps, "Just got back. Did you go to school today?"
