Chapter 27
Chapter 27
“Miss, you can’t go in. You can’t approach this room without a reservation, the security guard said.
Olivia tried to see who Neil was dining with but couldn’t see anything. Olivia glared at the security guard and left.
Neil took his seat. “Gina. I’d like to discuss something”
Gina put down her utensils and listened.
Neil cleared his throat. “Gina, what do you think of Gabriel?”
Gina didn’t understand. She replied. “He’s quite good.”
Neil’s eyes lit up. “Good. Do you want to try dating him?”
Gabriel was surprised. He knew his father wanted to play the matchmaker, but didn’t expect him to be so direct. However, it suited him fine.
Gina was dumbfounded. “What?”
Gabriel seized the opportunity. “Will you let me court you?” He looked sincere.
“Gina, although Gabriel isn’t young anymore, he’s never been in a relationship. I’ve never seen him so serious about someone. So… can you give him a chance?” Neil seemed on the verge of tears.
Gina was still in shock and at a loss. She didn’t feel anything for Gabriel.
Neil felt disappointed. It seemed Gina didn’t fancy Gabriel. Gabriel wasn’t impressive enough.
Suddenly, Gabriel lowered his gaze. “Did you decide not to be responsible for me?”
Gina’s cars burned. Why did Gabriel bring this up? Neil was still there. “Can you…” She didn’t finish her sentence.
Gabriel repeated, “Will you let me pursue you?”
“Yes,” Gina agreed exasperatedly, as long as Gabriel didn’t bring that up.
She looked awkwardly at Neil. Neil was pretending he hadn’t heard.
Gabriel smiled.
Just then, Isaac brought something over.
Neil took a red velvet box from Isaac and opened it to reveal a diamond bracelet.
When Gabriel saw it, he understood Neil considered C i na his future daughter-in-law. The bracelet was passed down from Gabriel’s mother to her daughter-in-law.
“Come, Gina. This is for you. Take it.” Neil gave the box to Gabriel, signaling him to help Gina wear it. It was time for Gabriel to make a move.
Gabriel held Gina’s wrist. “Let me put it on for you.”
Everything happened so quickly. Gina looked at the diamond bracelet on her wrist. Removing it now would seem disrespectful. She said, “Thanks, Grandpa Neil.”
“No need for niceties, Gina.” Neil chuckled.
When Olivia returned to the private room. Clinton and A b b i e had already left with Ethan.
Ella looked unpleasant. She muttered irritatedly, “How arrogant. Our family will eventually prosper too.”
Ella noticed Olivia didn’t look good. She consoled, “Honey, don’t take his mother’s words to heart. You’re the best!”
Olivia shook her head, pretending to be good. “Mom, I didn’t. It’s just… I ran into Mr. Neil.”
Ella and Noah were surprised.
Noah asked, “Mr. Neil is here?”
Olivia told them. “He’s in the first Phoenix room with his guest. But most importantly, Gina seems close to Mr. Neil.”
Ella couldn’t believe it. “That’s impossible.”
Olivia added, “Gina bought an pearl ring from Quaria’s collector’s series for him as a birthday present.”
Ella was stunned. “Where did she get the money?”
Noah reminded, “Mom, did you forget? She forced us to sign the severance agreement and took 600 million dollars.” He gritted his teeth.
Ella remembered. So Gina spent the money to please Neil? Did Gina want to retaliate against their family after that: their bad luck to have a daughter like her. Ella’s chest hurt from fury.
Olivia quickly comforted Ella. “Mom, relax. Maybe Gina can’t give up on Ethan. But I love Ethan…
“She’s not worthy,” Ella spat out fiercely. “Darling, don’t worry. The engagement will proceed no matter what. I’ll tell Mr. Neil that you bought the fake because Gina lied. He’ll see her true colors.” Ella was no longer concerned with keeping family matters private.
Olivia was startled. She might have overplayed her act. If Neil investigated, wouldn’t he discover that she had lied?
Olivia hurriedly stopped Ella. “Mom, let bygones be bygones. Besides, Mr. Neil is in the first Phoenix room. No one without a reservation can even get close… Furthermore, Gina won’t admit to it. If this matter escalates, I’m afraid Ethan’s parents won’t be happy…
Olivia had a point. Gina had never admitted to her mistakes. If they dragged it out, it might upset Ethan’s parents, especially with the wedding date approaching.
Ella sighed. She rubbed Olivia’s head. ‘Sorry, honey.”
“Mom, I’m fine.” Olivia pretended to be docile and understanding.
Noah’s phone rang. It was a call from Elsen. Surprised, Noah quickly answered, “Mr. Frost.”
Elsen spoke furiously, “Tell your people to stop bothering me.” Since Dale Group decided to terminal Miller Jewels, Noah had his people bombard Elsen with calls, messages, and emails.
