Chapter CHAPTER 71
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 71 I Can't Bear to Divorce You
The tone was flat, yet cold.
It seemed that as long as Johnson dared to, he would be crushed.
This was the first time I felt like he actually protected me.
However, this came by a bit too late as no ripples emerged in my heart.
Johnson moved, realizing that he was almost immobile in Christopher's hands. He shivered slightly, hurriedly explaining.
"Mr. Valence, this is an accident!"
Beata looked at the situation and felt a bit scared. "Hope!"
I really wanted to teach Johnson a lesson, but Beata had already done so, so it wasn't quite appropriate.
I could only pull Christopher's arm and say, "Let him go."
When Christopher was angry, he wouldn't easily listen to people. He stared at Johnson, "If you touch her, I'll chop your hands off. Understood?"
"Understand! I wouldn't dare; you can rest assured!"
Johnson's face turned pale as he repeatedly assured.
Only then did Christopher release him with a wary look.
"I've already paid Beata's medical expenses. As for the rest, you don't need to think about it anymore."
Johnson naturally disagreed, but he couldn't speak up in front of Christopher's cold gaze.
Later on, I helped Beata into the room and asked, "Has Johnson ever hit you over the years?"
Beata sat on the sickbed, lowering her head in thought. After a while, she smiled forcefully. "It's nothing; he was just angry earlier. He doesn't usually hit me, so don't worry."
I replied, "Okay.
I couldn't ask any more questions, so lonly inquired about her condition and helped her lie down before leaving.
Only Johnson and Ethan were left in the living room.
Johnson's arrogance from before was gone. When he saw me, he immediately flattered, "Hope, can you clear things up to Mr. Valence for me? You know i wasn't trying to hit you just now. When have I ever done that all these years?"
I pursed my lips and gently reminded, "It's not okay to hit anyone."

"Okay, I won't hit her in the future, okay? Can you speak up for me to Mr. Valence?" he pleaded.
"It's all your fault! Mr. Valence looked so angry just now; how can I still get into Valence Group at this rate?" Ethan complained
Johnson exploded in anger and slapped Ethan on the head. "Ungrateful brat, who am I doing this for?!"
I didn't want to watch their bickering, so I walked straight out of the ward.
I thought Christopher had already left, but I found him standing just outside the door. Seeing me come out, he approached me quickly.
He cooed, "I'll take you back."
"No need.
I refused directly, calmly saying, "Christopher, you can tell, right? He didn't mean his words; he
leave you, he won't get any money from you."
He said, "Why didn't you mention this before?"
I replied, "Why should I? There's nothing worth mentioning."
I walked toward the elevator.

Christopher followed me slowly, his expression dark and unclear. "You never told me how difficult your childhood was." "It wasn't difficult."
The real difficulty was when my parents passed away, and Beata didn't come to pick me up.
But in many days and nights later, I also came to understand. Perhaps everyone would have dark times in their lives.
I glanced at Christopher under the setting sun, thinking I didn't care anymore. However, my heart still felt bitter. "Besides, you never give me the chance to say it."
"Hope."
He looked at me, his eyes filled with unknown emotions. "I don't want to court with you. I can't bear to divorce you." His voice was low, as if shrouded in mist.
I licked my lips, pointing to the arriving elevator. "I'll go first."
I already said what I needed to; repeating these meaningless struggles would only add to the annoyance.
"I said I'll take you..."
"Christopher!"
The elevator doors opened. To my surprise, Evelyn was inside. She looked pleasantly surprised before softly saying,

"Didn't you say you were too busy to come this afternoon? You seem to be free now, no?"

I didn't look back and stepped into the elevator. Even after pressing the floor button, I didn't even glace at Christopher to see his expression. Whether it was resignation, annoyance, or affection; it all
matter to me anymore.
What I needed to learn now was to let go. To give up on someone I'd been chasing for eight years but couldn't keep up
with.
On the way home, Cecil called.
I answered with a smile, "Cecil, what's up?"
"Has anyone seen the design you submitted for the competition?" His tone was serious and cautious.
A bad feeling rose in my heart, so I slowed down and carefully recalled, "Except for Elissa, no one else has seen it."
Except for leaving it at the company overnight, the design hadn't left the house at other times.
After some silence on the other end, I couldn't help but ask, "Is something wrong?"
"Let's talk in person. Shall I come to you?"
"No problem. I'm outside right now, so I'll go to MS Group."
I made a U-turn at the traffic light. T'll wait for you at the cafe downstairs?"
He agreed readily.
About twenty minutes later, when I arrived at the Starbucks downstairs of MS Group's building, I saw Cecil outside through the floor-to-ceiling glass. Wearing a beige shirt paired with casual khaki pants, he looked particularly clear and gentle. However, he had a distant vibe that made him hard to approach.
As I walked over, that aura dissipated as he smiled, handing me a hot drink. Have something hot."
"Okay."
I wasn't picky about what I drank, but I unexpectedly looked at him after taking a sip; this was exactly what I liked.
Cecil often made me feel like he understood me very well.
However, I didn't know when that began happening.
After two sips, I went straight to the point, "Something must have happened, right?"
"Yes."

He nodded, hesitating before speaking. "Your design has been plagiarized. But don't worry too much; it's your own thing, so no one can take it away."
I said, "How is that possible?"
I sat up straight, completely unable to believe it.
His eyes narrowed slightly, with a hint of solemnity. "The other party submitted it earlier than you. She sent it to us last night.
I asked with some confusion, "Can you tell me who it is? Or do I have to wait for your group's decision?"
Although this wasn't a formal competition, it was hosted by MS Group and still had significant impact.
If this matter wasn't handled well, someone could fall the design industry.

Cecil didn't beat around the bush and frankly said, "It's Evelyn."
"Her?!" I exclaimed.
"This is her design; take a look."
He handed me the phone as he spoke.
