Chapter CHAPTER 159
Chapter 159: None of Them Suit You
Avery's bold and direct words left both Elissa and me in shock. Once I recovered, fearing that Skylar might lash out at Avery, I quickly pulled her behind
1. me.
"Come at me if you have a problem," I said firmly.
"Hope!" Avery called out, but she showed no fear as she stared Skylar down. "Didn't you say you didn't want the dress? Then have Kimberly come out and stop trying it on." Skylar sneered disdainfully, "That's rich, coming from a low-level employee. Did your boss approve this? Do you even know how much this dress costs?"
"I can buy it!" Avery puffed up her cheeks and asserted with determination.
Skylar's face twisted with outrage. "Hope Royston, is that what you mean too?"
"If you don't like it, then yes, that's what it means." I replied with a faint smile, maintaining my calm demeanor.
Skylar gritted her teeth and glared at Avery, "Are you sure you can afford it? This dress costs over 2.7 million dollars!"
"Only 2.7 million dollars. You must be poor, right? Avery remarked, looking genuinely puzzled. "Why else would you keep harping on about a mere 2.7. million dollars?"
"You..." Skylar's eyes widened in rage, and she raised her hand to slap Avery hard.
I wanted to stop her, but Jerry was faster than me. He appeared from behind us and firmly grasped Skylar's wrist, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "Skylar, what did my sister do to offend you? Tell me, and I'll have my grandmother personally teach her a lesson."
I was dumbfounded, my eyes darting between ferry and Avery.
The brother Avery had mentioned was Jerry!
Skylar's expression froze, her face strained. "She... she's your sister? Don't talk nonsense, I've never seen her with the Hammer family."
Jerry didn't respond verbally. Instead, he pulled out his phone and initiated a video call. The call was answered almost immediately, revealing Grace's
face
Grace's eyes lit up as she said, "You finally have time to video call me?"
Jerry raised an eyebrow nonchalantly, "It's not me, Grace. Avery had a conflict with Mrs. Harris, and t
Harris was about to......
"Mrs. Hammer!" Skylar instantly deflated, and she rushed over to grasp Jerry's phone, explaining softly to Grace. "It's all a misunderstanding, don't listen to Jerry... While gesturing frantically, she walked to the side, trying to smooth things over.
Avery looked at Jerry. "Why are you here?"
Jerry replied, clearly exasperated, "What do you think? You insisted on getting a ride, and I've been waiting for you downstairs forever."
The resemblance was undeniable. They really were siblings.
I suddenly realized that the person Jerry had asked me to pick up from Jacquar University was Avery. And those ladies slippers at Jerry's place must naturally belong to Avery.
I looked at Jerry, puzzled. "Why haven't I seen your sister at (acquar One?"
"She used to come back less often." Jerry glanced at Avery and answered calmly.
Avery grinned. "I've moved back now. Hope, you'll see me around all the time!"
The commotion outside had clearly reached Kimberly inside the fitting room, and she had remained silent for a long time. Elissa stepped forward and knocked on the door. "Ms. Harris, do you need any help?"

"No need!" Kimberly snapped angrily and then pushed the door open. Surprisingly, the beauty wasn't just in Kimberly, but in the dress itself. When worn, it looked even more dazzling. Mindful of Jerry's presence, Kimberly seemed reluctant to provoke me further, but she looked at Jerry with defiance. "What is your relationship with her, why do you always defend her!"
"Enough! Kimberly! Skylar, having finished her call, came over and grudgingly pulled Kimberly away. "Go change the dress, we're leaving."
Kimberly protested, "Mommy, why? I'm the customer
Skylar's tone was firm. "Listen to me!!
Skylar returned the phone to ferry and forced a strained smile toward me. "Ms. Royston, you are the designer of the dress. Please make sure to attend next week's engagement party. If there's any problem with the dress, you can fix it immediately."
I made a gesture of seeing them off, "Goodbye. Please transfer the remaining balance to the account used last time, thank you"
The farce concluded, and it was already nearing seven o'clock. I decided to invite the people left for dinner.
Just as we reached the underground parking lot, Elissa received a call about a party and decided to abandon me, leaving just ferry, Avery, and me.
Jerry nodded toward me. "Take my car. I'll drop you and Avery off at work tomorrow."
I agreed, "Okay."
er to open the back door, Avery pushed me into the front seat. "Hope, you sit in the front, the back is cramped
As I walked over to open
That was the downside of sports cars-they looked good but weren't very practical
I opened Yelp, contemplating dinner options. Jerry yawned, "I'm tired. Let's just go home and eat. Order delivery to the house."
It seemed like a practical plan, especially since I was feeling a bit drained myself.
Upon arriving home, we found the food delivery already hanging from the doorknob. With a sly grin, Jerry hooked the bag with one finger and swayed in nonchalantly. "Let's take this to my place. If we stay at yours, I'm afraid someone might catch us in the act.
"Catch us in what act?" I asked, momentarily taken aback.
to either of them."
Jerry strolled inside. "Given that both Christopher Valence and Cecil Lewis are around, I can't top
I feigned ignorance to his comment, but Terry pressed on, unconcerned. "Besides, neither of them is right for you. Christopher is a had fit, and Ceciliant much better."
"How do you know?" I couldn't resist retorting as I grabbed the food from Jerry and placed it on the table.
"If you don't believe me, try them out." Jerry sneered, his eyes alight with a mischievous glint, as if mocking my naivety.
Before I could reply, Jerry headed into the kitchen, efficiently fetching tableware. Soon enough, the delightful aroma of our meal filled the room.
Despite his usual chatter, Jerry was unusually silent during dinner, focusing intently on his food. It was Avery and I who kept the conversation alive with our incessant chatter.
After we'd finished eating, I began cleaning up, only for Jerry to gently slap my hand away. "Relax, women don't do chores in this house. If Grace saw, she'd twist my car off."
Since when I was the woman in his house?
Nevertheless, Jerry appeared completely unbothered, calmly tidying up the table.
Avery eagerly grasped my hand. "Hope, come on, let me show you around!"
"Sure," I replied, unable to resist her enthusiasm.

Avery's zeal guided me through the living room and her room before leading us into Jerry's study. "My brother has a lot of cool stuff, including rare paintings and antiques."
My eyes were inexorably drawn to a ceramic jar shaped like a bunny. It was hideous yet oddly familiar. Despite its appearance, I couldn't help but reach for it, finding it unexpectedly heavy. A shake of the jar revealed the jingle of coins -a money book
With a chuckle, I remarked, "I didn't expect your brother...
"Who said you could touch that!" A stem voice boomed from behind, startling me into releasing the jar. It shattered upon impact, scattering coins in all directions.
Jerry swiftly approached, his face dark with anger.
