Chapter 104
Josephine stared straight at the elevator buttons, not even bothering to glance back. Her voice was cold when she asked, "What's there to talk about?"
"It's about us, of course."
"There's nothing left for us to talk about. If you have something to say, take it up with Mr. Brown."
The mention of their divorce lawyer immediately darkened Zayn's expression. "Don't bring him up again. Him—and that driver from yesterday—if I see them again, I'll beat them up. Every. Single. Time."
Josephine shot him a sharp look. "What the hell is wrong with you? If I had your skills, I'd just punch whoever annoyed me too."
"You don't need them. Just tell me who you want to punch, and I'll do it for you."
"Oh?" Josephine's voice dripped with sarcasm as she met his gaze. "Alright then, I want to beat Nadine to a pulp."
Zayn froze.
Her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Look at you, all freaked out. Relax. I was just kidding. How could I have the nerve to punch your sweetheart? You'd probably come running to avenge her, and I'm not up for that fight."
All of a sudden, he pulled her into his arms and murmured, "You're the only one who matters to me..."
"Let go of me!" Josephine shoved him away, disgusted by his sickly sweet words.
Right then, the elevator doors opened, and she stormed out without a backward glance.
But he wasn't letting her go that easily. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, stopping her in her tracks. "Don't fight me, Josephine. I only want you to listen to me. Half a year ago, my father changed his will."
The word "will" made her stop in her tracks, and she looked at him solemnly. Josephine assumed this conversation was about Joe's health.
"He split Forbes Group into two-half to me, half to Yvan-and then he started contacting Yvan to get him back in the country. Josephine, Forbes Group is my blood, sweat, and tears! When I took over three years ago, the company was drowning-barely any cash flow-on the verge of collapse.
"If I hadn't poured my heart and soul into it, secured funding, and taken it public, the company wouldn't be where it is today!"
Josephine listened to him silently. In the past, she would've agreed-would've felt proud of his achievements. But now, she wanted to tell him that at least half of Forbes Group's success was thanks to her.
"In the past three years, you, more than anyone, know how much I had sacrificed for the company. And now that the company's thriving, he wants me to hand half of it over to Yvan? I can't accept this!"
"So, that's why Yvan suddenly came back... Joe must've felt his time was running out and called Yvan home to split the inheritance," she thought Meanwhile, Zayn's sudden change over the last six months was due to the will? FindNovel
Josephine was puzzled. "So... You were unhappy about the will. And your solution was... to cheat?"
"I didn't cheat on you! I've told you a thousand times-there's nothing between me and Nadine! Why can't you believe me? You're my wife, and after spending every day and night with you, do you really think choose her over you?"
That sounded clever, like he was complimenting her, but it didn't make sense at
all. Because it wasn't about who was better. There were plenty of guys who cheated on their gorgeous wives.
Noticing her doubt, he hastily added, "Nadine is just a tool. She's a cover- someone to help me move Forbes Group's assets under the radar!"
Josephine's blood ran cold. "Are you out of your mind, Zayn? That's illegal!"
