Chapter CHAPTER 50
Chapter 50 Processing Procedures
I was suddenly startled and instinctively glanced at Christopher.
He appeared calm, with a gentle expression, wrapping me in his arms. We did not look like a couple about to get divorced.
With the floor in the hall dry, I gently pulled his hand apart and replied, “No, we’re here to get a divorce.”
“All right…”
The
staff looked somewhat regretful. It’s not easy for a couple to be together and I feel like your relationship is pretty good, Why are you getting divorced? Divorce is not a decision to be taken lightly. Please don’t act impulsively. Once cracks appear in emotions, it’s hard to mend them.”
I lowered my head and said helplessly, “You might have said it wrong. It’s not that our relationship will develop cracks after the divorce, but rather, it’s because cracks have appeared that we decided to get divorced.”
In most cases, couples did not choose divorce unless it was absolutely necessary.
The staff member no longer persuaded us. She sighed and said, “Go ahead; the rain is too heavy right now. No one is here to handle transactions. Just choose an empty window to go to.”
Okay, thank you.”
After thanking the staff, I found the nearest empty seat by the window and sat down. “Hello, we are here to process the divorce paperwork,” I said.
“Did you all bring your credentials?” the staff inquired.
“I brought it.”
1 handed over the divorce application and personal information form and then looked at Christopher, who was still standing. “What about yours?”
He seemed distracted, only reacting after hearing my words, his handsome face filled with complex emotions. “I brought,” he said.
His voice was unexpectedly hoarse.
“Give them to me.”
The staff member reached out his hand, but Christopher remained motionless, his hand clutching the file bag, showing veins bulging, hesitating to make a move.
I couldn’t help but urge, “Christopher?”
“Okay.” He answered softly, his eyes seeming to be mixed with pain.

But eventually, under my urging, he handed the document bag over.
The staff frowned and asked, “Did you voluntarily divorce?”
“Sure.”
I answered without hesitation while Christopher remained silent.
The staff looked at Christopher and asked, “What about you? If you haven’t thought it through, go home and discuss it
again.”
“He has also thought it through.”
I said quietly, “If we stay married, it will hurt his true love. So, he thought it through.”
At my reminder, Christopher closed his eyes and sighed.
However, only I could see his clenched fists hanging down, concealing his emotions.
But I didn’t relent.
Even though he didn’t want a divorce, he still made his decision.
So, he didn’t need to pretend to be affectionate in front of me.
The staff reviewed the documents and asked, “Do you have children? Has the property been divided clearly?”
“We don’t have any children.”
I gritted my teeth and said, “The assets have been divided, as stated in the divorce application. I just want a house.”
“Why is your signature missing on the divorce application?”
The staff handed over the agreement. “What’s written on it is different from what you said. Go discuss it on the side first, sign the document, and then come back,” they said.
“Okay.”
I took the divorce application and walked to the side.
Before handing the application to Christopher, I clearly signed it..
I furrowed my brow, glanced at Christopher with a look of confusion, and then turned to the divorce application.
Soon, I found out that the divorce petition was not the one I had drawn up and that he had changed it.
In addition to the Riverside Garden apartment, he gave me ten percent of the shares.
I bit my lip and looked at Christopher. “I said I just want the house, not the shares.”

As long as I have a place to live, the ability to support myself and my children is sufficient.
1 divorced Christopher to completely cut ties with him. If I held ten percent of the shares, we would inevitably meet frequently in the future.
Christopher’s jaw was tight, his voice firm and unquestionable. These shares were rightfully yours.”
Your mother left the shares, I think she meant to give them to your wife.”
He hesitated for a moment and asked me, “How did you know?”
Since our relationship had already been broken down, I would no longer hide the truth. I confessed. “That day, I overheard the conversation between you and Bentley in the office. At the same time, I heard you admit that you not longer have any feelings for me. In fact, this marriage may have been a mistake from the beginning.”
“No.”
He almost urgently denied it, furrowing his brow as he recalled, explaining, “You misunderstood me. I just meant to retort Grandpa.”
I didn’t rush to argue; I just watched him quietly, smiling faintly. “Have you ever loved me?”
Christopher was taken aback for a moment, finding this question perhaps too difficult. “Hope…”
“Don’t explain; your explanations will make me look pitiful.”
I pretended to laugh nonchalantly. “Have Donald send over the agreement I gave you. In the future, you will marry Evelyn, and I won’t accept those shares.”
He suddenly interrupted me solemnly and said, “I will not marry her.”
My eyelashes fluttered slightly as I continued. “Your matters are none of my concern. Anyway, I refuse to accept those
shares.”
I considered myself not that carefree.
After all, I loved Christopher for so many years. Once we got divorced, it wasn’t suitable for us to meet again.
I want time to erase all traces of the past rather than repeatedly touching my scars.
And if Evelyn knew I got the shares, she would definitely come looking for trouble.
Wanting to part ways with Christopher, I must eradicate all potential entanglements.
“Are you so afraid of having anything to do with me?”
Christopher’s face darkened as he glanced at his wristwatch, tightly pursing his lips. “I only have five minutes left. If you’re unwilling to sign, we’ll do it next time.”
“I’ll sign now.”

I made a decision and decisively signed my name in the blank space.
I
If I didn’t want to acce the shares, I would find a way to deal with them later.
The top priority was to get a divorce from Christopher.
When we returned to the window, the staff had already finished checking the other documents and had taken back the divorce application to review again.
After confirming everything was correct, she handed us a registration form.
“Sign this form, and we will notify you once the process is complete.”
The staff continued, “In fact, you both still have feelings for each other. When other couples get divorced, they fight relentlessly over property, calculating against each other, but you two didn’t.”
“You misunderstood; he didn’t have feelings for me.”
I smiled and said, quite soberly. “He’s just wealthy, that’s all.”
“I have handled procedures for many couples, so I won’t make a mistake. If you still care about each other, go back and think calmly. If you regret it, come back to withdraw the divorce procedures.”
The once–silent Christopher suddenly spoke up, “Can it be withdrawn at any time?”
“Sure, just come within thirty business days.”
Subsequently, we handed the signed registration form to the staff.
As we walked out of the courthouse’s main doors, I felt a surreal sense of daze.
It felt like the three years of emotional experiences had just been a dream.
The rain continued to pour down relentlessly. Christopher opened the umbrella at the door and hoarsely said, “I’ll escort you to the car.”
“Okay, Thanks.”
I politely and distantly spoke as he reached out to put his hand on my shoulder. I dodged slightly, trying to act like a proper ex–wife.
He didn’t insist anymore. The umbrella wasn’t very big, but not even a single strand of my hair get wet.
He walked me to the car, then suddenly called out to me. I instinctively responded, and the next moment, he tightly embraced me in his arms.
He exerted himself, pushing as if he wanted to blend me into his body.
I couldn’t help but confirm the last question he asked at the window. “Christopher, are you definitely going to get divorced? You won’t regret it halfway, will you?”
