Chapter 76
Chapter 76 Even More Exciting
Sophia didn't pay much attention to what was happening in the office, but that didn't mean she knew nothing.
Lewis didn't respond to her. He looked at Josephine and said, "Josephine, you can go."
Josephine nodded and left his office. When she exited, she couldn't help but look at the door closing on her. She slowly looked away when Conrad walked past and noticed how dejected she looked. He asked, "Madam, what happened?"
Josephine looked at him and pursed her lips. She gestured, "Can we talk somewhere else?"
Conrad flicked a glance at Lewis' office before nodding. He led Josephine to an empty meeting
room.
"What do you want to talk to me about, Madam?"
Josephine hesitated for a while. She scanned her surroundings and made sure that no one was going to enter before signing, "I saw Miss King just now."
Conrad responded, "Oh, do you want to ask about her?"
Josephine nodded.
Conrad said, "I'm not quite sure about it either. When I came to this company, Miss King was already working with President Alvarez. I only heard that she used to be his classmate. I'm not sure how true it is." Then, Conrad comforted Josephine, saying, "Madam, you don't have to worry. If something were to happen between them, it would have long happened. Why wait.
until now?"
Truth be told, Josephine didn't want to know about this. She wanted to ask whether Conrad thought that Sophia and Sierra looked alike. However, she couldn't find her words. If it was only her misperception, would she not be spreading false rumors?
Josephine let out a long breath and gave up. Perhaps, she was only overthinking. She signed, Thank you, Conrad. I have nothing else to ask."
Conrad got up and said, "I'll go get busy, then." He gently reminded Josephine, "Don't overthink it, Madam. You're the most important person to President Alvarez."
Josephine forced a smile. No wonder Conrad was Lewis' assistant. He had great skills at saying what people wanted to hear. It looked like he was not going to say anything about Sophia, even if he knew. When Conrad left, Josephine was alone in the meeting room for a while before she got up and planned to leave.
However, the door to the meeting room opened, and the person that entered noticed her. They
were both stunned. Josephine instinctively took a step back.
Mr. Hall squinted his eyes and closed the door behind him. He smiled and asked, "Miss Vance, why are you here?"
Josephine pursed her lips. She didn't know how to communicate with him. She could only
reach out and try to open the door, but Mr. Hall had his hand on the door, not letting her go.
Josephine looked up at him in confusion. She thought they were in the office and he wouldn't dare to cause any trouble, but she underestimated his boldness.
He went in closer to her and asked, "I hear you can't speak. Is that true?
Josephine looked away. She tried to open the door, but he grabbed her hand this time. She tried to shrug him off, but he grabbed her wrist with one hand while grabbing her butt with the other. Josephine's eyes widened in fear, and she was short of breath. Mr. Hall noticed how she tried. hard to make a sound but couldn't.
It was even more exciting.
His wandering hands grabbed Josephine's butt hard. Rage and humiliation made Josephine's face flush red.
"You're truly mute?" Mr. Hall said with excitement.
In a fit of rage, Josephine raised her hand and slapped Mr. Hall.
The slap landed squarely on his face, and his expression darkened immediately, his burning with fury.
"You dumb bitch! How dare you slap me!'
eyes
Josephine tried to push him away, but he picked her up and slammed her against the door with
a loud thud.
Josephine saw stars.
Mr. Hall grabbed both her arms from behind and lecherously kissed her neck. The more she struggled, the more excited he got. Since she could not make any noise, all her struggles seemed like flirting with him.
"Tell me, who hired you? If you tell me, I'll let you go." He was trying to test the waters. If it was someone more powerful than him, he would have to think twice. If it was someone on a lower level than him, he would do as he pleased.
However, he had forgotten that he had Josephine in his clutch. How was she going to reply to him?
He inhaled, unable to suppress the rage inside. His hands started to wander around her body,
and when his hand landed on her neck, he reached inside her clothes.
"Are you really not going to tell me?"
Josephine was helpless at that moment, and tears welled up in her eyes. Taking the opportunity when his hand was inside her clothes, she bit him on his arm as hard as she could.
Mr. Hall was in so much pain he flung her off. "Fuck!"
Josephine took this chance to open the door and ran away from the meeting room as fast as
she could.
Her messy hair and clothes, as well as her wretched look, told the passersby what had happened. She could not be bothered by their looks. She ran all the way into the washroom and locked herself up in one of the cubicles. Pressing against the door, she was trembling uncontrollably.
Mr. Hall was bitten quite badly. He rubbed his arm and started to panic. He had not managed to deal with her before letting her escape. If people were to notice what happened, his reputation would go down the drain.
Of course, those were all less important. The main thing was he still did not know who hired Josephine. At that moment, the most urgent matter was getting to the bottom of it. Only then would he know what his next step was.
He tidied himself and calmly headed out. Even if there were not many people on that floor, some still noticed Josephine running out of the meeting room in distress, then Mr. Hall coming out from the same meeting room. Everyone roughly knew what had happened.
The first thing he did once he left the meeting room was to head to the Human Resources department. He found the staff that dealt with new hires.
"Sara, let me ask you something."
The lady named Sara blinked. "What is it, Mr. Hall?"
"There's a new secretary at the President's office. That mute. Who hired her?"
Sara cocked her head and thought for a while before shaking her head. "I don't know. I wasn't the one who processed her application. It was our manager. Why don't you ask her?"
Mr. Hall instantly had cold sweat when he heard what she said. "How important is she that she needs your manager to process her onboarding?"
Sara shrugged. "Beats me."
Mr. Hall asked no other questions. He left the department in worry, not noticing Sara rolling her eyes at him behind his back.
He never had a good reputation, especially among the female staff at the Human Resources department. Almost all of them hated him. If he was handsome, they might still bear with it,
but he was fat, bald, and had a greasy look, yet he still went around flirting with pretty ladies. It was disgusting.
There was once a new hire who was just fresh out of college. She fell for Mr. Hall's advances, and he knocked her up, yet he refused to take any responsibility and even blamed her for trying to deceive him. She could no longer take it and resigned.
Josephine was in the washroom cubicle for almost half an hour before finally calming down. She opened the door and headed out, looking at her messy self in the mirror. There was still a red bump on her forehead. She hated her face.
Just when she was tidying herself up, someone entered and washed their hands next to her. Josephine looked up in the mirror, and their eyes met.
