Chapter 406 Widowed
Josephine sobbed, and tears rolled down her cheeks.
The wind from the window kept blowing into the room, giving her goosebumps.
The two men held her down, and all her struggles were in vain.
One of the men looked at her beautiful figure and gulped. Soon, madness took over the last trace of rationality in his mind.
Even though Josephine was mentally ill, she was a heavenly beauty!
He couldn't wait any longer and quickly started taking off his clothes. However, a loud noise came from outside as he was stripping.
The two of them were so scared that they almost got turned off.
"Damn it!" one of them cursed, and the next second, another loud noise resounded.
Finally realizing something was wrong, they quickly put on their clothes, grabbed a damp blanket, and hid Josephine inside.
Then, they rushed to the door, but as soon as their hands touched the doorknob, another bang rang out. The door was forcibly broken open, sending one of the guys flying out.
"Ah!"
The man screamed in pain as he was flung far away by the impact of the door and fell unconscious on the ground.
Looking at his bloodied companion on the ground, the other man stood frozen before glancing at the people at the door.
Two people stood at the door, and they didn't look friendly.
"
"Who are ..." The man's words got cut off as Phineas stepped forward and kicked him in the face.
The man fell heavily to the ground, clutching his stomach and groaning in pain.
Phineas didn't stop there. He grabbed the man's collar and delivered two more blows to his face.
His punches were forceful, and the man's nose started bleeding after the first hit. "How dare you even lay a hand on Mrs. Alvarez? You must have a death wish!" Phineas' sent a shiver down the man's spine. He stared at Conrad fearfully.
He had no idea who Josephine was. Wasn't she just a mentally ill woman?
Phineas didn't give the man any time to regret his actions. He pushed the man down to the ground and delivered a series of punches, causing him to cry in agony. Meanwhile, Lewis had already approached the bed behind them and uncovered the blanket, revealing Josephine's scantily clad body.
She looked at Lewis with tearful eyes. Her eyes were red, her mouth gagged, and her hands were bound behind her back. She curled up like a helpless little shrimp. Lewis' expression remained stern, and he didn't say a word.
He removed the pants from Josephine's mouth and untied the ropes around her wrists, which had left deep marks due to her intense struggles.
Josephine immediately threw herself into his arms and cried aggrievedly.
His scent was pleasant as usual. It carried a refreshing fragrance that seemed to disperse the foul smell in the room.
At first, Lewis was raging with anger, but as Josephine clung to him and cried, his anger gradually dissipated. He felt somewhat helpless instead.
Lewis let her cry for a while. Sighing, he gently patted her back.
He delicately pulled Josephine away from him, helped her get dressed, and lifted her in his arms before walking out of the room.
The man on the ground looked miserable, with blood all over his face. Phineas sat above him and asked, "Chairman Alvarez, how should we deal with these two?" "Chop them into pieces and feed them to the dogs."
Lewis didn't even look back when he uttered those cruel words. Phineas shuddered upon hearing them.
Phineas' thoughts wandered to the dogs up on the hill.
As Josephine was injured, those dogs were left starving for almost half a month, and a third had died.
Now, there were only a few dogs left alive.
Yet, besides the dogs, other animals could feed on the guys.
Josephine returned to the car. Sitting quietly in the passenger seat, she became much more obedient now. She anxiously fidgeted with her fingers.
Lewis fastened his seatbelt and turned to look at her.
"Will you run away again in the future?"
Josephine shook her head vigorously.
Lewis said, "From now on, remember not to trust anyone except me. No matter what they say, don't believe them."
Josephine lifted her head and cautiously glanced at him.
Meeting his unfathomable gaze, she felt a hint of fear.
"Do you understand?" Lewis asked again.
Josephine hastily nodded and said softly, "I want to go home."
Lewis' eyes darkened slightly. He stared at Josephine for a long time but still kept silent. He drove her back to Styx Mansion.
The first thing they did upon returning was to have her take a bath.
Josephine became much more well-behaved. She must have been terrified.
She sat quietly in the bathtub and allowed Lewis to hold the showerhead and wash her.
Lips pursed, Lewis didn't look too comfortable, especially seeing her defenseless, innocent, and naive appearance.
He patiently washed her from top to bottom several times before wrapping her in a towel.
Clutching the towel tightly, Josephine followed closely behind Lewis as they went upstairs together. Lewis searched for a simple set of clothes in the wardrobe and personally helped her put them on. Josephine remained quiet throughout the process. She did not resist, nor did she say a word. However, she noticed Lewis' breath getting heavier and looked at him blankly.
Upon seeing his gloomy and solemn expression, Josephine silently lowered her head again. Leaving one piece of clothing on the bed, he casually told Josephine, "Wait here." Josephine nodded in response.
Then, she watched the man remove his wet clothes before entering the bathroom.
Sitting on the bed, Josephine observed her surroundings.
It felt both unfamiliar and familiar.
Nevertheless, it was much better than that dirty and messy place they were at before. At least there were no dreadful bugs.
Lewis took quite some time in the bathroom, and Josephine began to feel drowsy while waiting. Eventually, she fell asleep without realizing it. When she woke up, she was back at the hospital.
Just as she was about to rub her eyes, she noticed the needle on the back of her hand.
"Oh, Mrs. Alvarez, you're awake. Please don't move. You're still on the drip."
Josephine looked at her hand in confusion and then glanced at Mrs. Larson. Gradually, she put her hand back down and searched the room for Lewis. Unfortunately, he wasn't there.
She sighed and lay back down, staring at the white ceiling.
She was back again.
Meanwhile, Lewis had returned to the mountainside.
Apart from him, Quintin was there too.
Quintin had suffered a good beating. He was tied up and lying on the ground with his face covered in bruises. He was drained of energy.
He stared at a nearby open space where several dogs were eating.
His face turned pale as he saw the scene. Then, he felt his stomach churn, and he vomited several times.
He didn't want to watch, but Phineas held his head up and forced him to watch it.
Lewis sat on a chair before him and held a cigarette between his fingertips. He smiled as he watched Quintin.
"Quintin, have you thought it through?"
Quintin couldn't utter a word this time. Only now did he realize Lewis was even more twisted than he had imagined.
Lewis continued, "If you're unwilling to divorce, I'm afraid Josephine has to be widowed." Quintin's face turned pale as he said, "Aren't you afraid my father will come after you?"
Lewis casually replied, "So what if he does? He can't accuse me if he can't find your corpse.'
