What Separates Me and You

Chapter 404 Will You Divorce Her?

Bewildered, Josephine lifted her head and looked at the man with teary eyes. She didn't recognize this person.

Quintin noticed her confused expression and felt a bit puzzled.

"Don't tell me you don't recognize me again." Quintin stared at her strangely. It had only been a few days, and she had forgotten him already.

Josephine's reaction confirmed his suspicion; she indeed didn't know him.

Josephine tilted her head and observed Quintin. She wiped the tears from her face and got up from the ground.

Quintin was about to say something when Lewis suddenly appeared.

"What did you do?" Lewis glared at Quintin with displeasure. He hadn't witnessed what had happened between the two and only saw Josephine crying.

Quintin hurriedly explained, "I didn't do anything. We just accidentally collided. What's wrong with her? She doesn't remember me again."

Lewis cast him a cold glare. "Why should she remember you?"

"I ..." Quintin stuttered. However, he quickly regained his composure and retorted confidently, "Because I am her husband now."

His identity as Josephine's husband was the only trump card he had to challenge Lewis.

Lewis' face turned dark at his response.

"Now that you mention it, Mr. Fowler said you were bedridden and couldn't come to sign the divorce papers. But you seem pretty lively and energetic to me now. I suppose you've recovered from your illness." Quintin hesitated for a moment, as he could probably guess what Lewis was going to say. He immediately turned to run away.

Yet seconds later, a force struck his bottom, causing him to lose balance and fly out.

He landed heavily on the ground and slid about three feet across the floor.

The commotion drew a crowd, and people gathered to witness the fight inside the mall.

Josephine was shocked too. Her eyes widened as she looked at Quintin and Lewis.

Lewis' face turned gloomy, and he emanated a menacing presence. Frightened, Josephine shivered and quietly moved behind the escalator to hide.

Quintin groaned in pain as he lay on the ground, unable to get up.

Just as he was recovering, Lewis approached him from behind, grabbed his collar, and yanked him up.

"Quintin, you keep going against me. Do you really think I wouldn't dare to touch you?"

Quintin glared at Lewis with a pained grin. "Do it then!"

Lewis sneered and threw Quintin back to the ground forcefully.

Then, he pressed one foot on Quintin's chest, preventing him from getting up.

The pressure was intense that Quintin thought his chest was about to be crushed.

Lewis bent down slightly and looked coldly at him. "Let me repeat myself. Will you divorce her or not?"

Quintin grimaced in pain but kept his determined gaze on Lewis. He managed to say through gritted teeth, "I won't."

Lewis chuckled. "Very well."

Quintin's eyes narrowed. He could clearly see the killing intent in Lewis' eyes. No doubt, he was afraid.

However, Quintin had always been rebellious by nature. Even if he were scared, he would never compromise or admit defeat.

At the same time, a group of people emerged from the other side, seemingly searching for something.

Quintin spotted them at a glance. They were none other than the men Damian sent to chase after him.

He had been trying to avoid them earlier, but never did he expect he would bump into Josephine. He felt so relieved seeing them now.

He was about to cry for help, but Lewis had also noticed the approaching group. He exerted more pressure on Quintin's chest, causing Quintin to scream in pain.

Just then, Conrad arrived. Lewis grabbed Quintin and tossed him to Conrad before instructing, "Take him away."

Conrad nodded and took hold of Quintin, pulling him out.

"Let me go!" Quintin struggled. Although he couldn't resist Lewis, he wondered if he could put up a fight with Conrad.

Conrad wasn't particularly skilled, and Quintin almost managed to break free from his grasp.

Conrad dragged Quintin into the hallway, and the two began to fight there.

Lewis paid no attention to the scuffle between the two men because Josephine was nowhere to be seen.

In just a blink of an eye, the woman had disappeared.

Meanwhile, Josephine was still searching the mall for her parents. The environment was familiar, but none of the people were.

She had checked several floors but still failed to find anyone familiar. Feeling a bit lost, she roamed aimlessly.

Lewis located her through the surveillance cameras. She was in a café on the lower floor.

The shop was crowded, and Josephine stood in line with everyone else. She waited for over ten minutes before it was her turn to order. When the cashier asked her what she wanted, she pointed to a coffee. However, she realized she had no money when it was time to pay.

The cashier looked at her dubiously and repeated, "Miss, it's 28 dollars."

Blinking, Josephine searched herself and answered, "I have no money."

The cashier was somewhat taken aback, but they still kept on a smile. "I'm sorry, but I can't take your order if you have no money."

Josephine looked around. Someone was always there to pay for her before this. Even though she didn't have money, she really wanted the coffee. So, she stood at the shop's entrance, unwilling to leave. The people in line behind her grew impatient. "If you don't have money, step aside!"

"Yeah. Don't tell me you don't even have 28 dollars."

A woman made a snide remark. "Is she trying to imitate those people on the internet and use her looks to get freebies?"

"How ridiculous! Does she think she's charming?"

People were always jealous of good-looking individuals.

Whenever an opportunity arose, some would spare no effort in belittling and mocking good-looking people to assert their superiority and achieve psychological balance.

Listening to their mockery, Josephine hung her head low and stared reluctantly at the pictures of coffee on the menu before stepping aside to make way for the others.

Suddenly, someone noticed her hospital gown and blurted out, "Could she have escaped from a mental hospital?"

The remark caught everyone's attention, and they all turned to look at her.

Faced with their probing gazes, Josephine instinctively clutched her clothes tightly and nervously stepped back.

Her reaction only strengthened their belief that she was mentally ill. Otherwise, she wouldn't have responded like this. "Quick, call the mental hospital! I heard mentally ill people can be dangerous and even kill others!"

"Seriously?"

"Yes. Haven't you seen the news? Mentally ill people would randomly attack others."

Discussions broke out in the crowd, and someone immediately took out their phone to call the hospital.

Seeing herself being rejected and disliked by so many people, Josephine was frightened and turned around to run.

Her action further convinced them that she was mentally ill. Otherwise, why would she run upon hearing someone call the hospital? While some were scared, others noticed her innocent appearance and thought otherwise. They quietly followed her from behind. When Lewis arrived, there was no sign of Josephine anywhere.

He scanned the surroundings and went directly to the cashier before asking, "Where is the woman in a padded coat and hospital gown?"

Someone behind him answered, "Are you looking for that mentally ill woman? She got scared and ran away when she heard we were calling the hospital." Hearing this, Lewis cast a sharp glance at the person who spoke.
